I can’t believe how horrible the«service» was! I was assigned Hi-Tech by Kitchenaid for warranty service on my new refrigerator that wasn’t cooling. I called and spoke to Peter, he seems to be a one man show as he came to do the analysis. He told me the part would be in within 5 – 10 working days. However, three weeks and no call from him. I followed up with 5 phone messages to him along with a call from Kitchenaid. I received one voicemail from Peter with no information and no response to my next voicemail. After one month, I was assigned a new repair company by Kitchenaid, but the process has to start all over again. I have no idea how this company stays in business!

My dryer stopped heating up and likely needed a new heating element. I called Hi-Tech and spoke with Peter. This was on a weekend. He told me the repair would be no problem and that he’d call me on Monday to let me know when the necessary part would be available. He called on Tuesday at around 8:30 p.m. Hey, at least he got back to me, right? When we spoke, he let me know the part would be arriving soon and that he’d call in a few days to schedule a house call. He never called. I’ll be attempting to repair the dryer myself, given how unreliable this company obviously is; Peter’s behavior definitely doesn’t inspire trust or confidence. I’m not really clear on how a company can stay in business when it doesn’t even bother to follow up with people who will happily give it money to have dry clothing. Perhaps the lack of competition? Whatever the case, I can’t attest to Hi-Tech’s repair capabilities, but I can tell you they don’t follow through on what they say they’ll do.

TERRIBLESERVICE. DONOTALLOWTHISCOMPANYTOMAKEANAPPOINTMENTORCOMETOYOURHOME. I don’t usually write Unilocal reviews, but I have to save everyone else from going through this ridiculous company for service. The(Russian?) repair man was rude, dismissive, unprepared, uninformed, didn’t make any promises about being able to help(which he didn’t), and didn’t check to see if what he did helped fix the problem(which it didn’t) He treated the females in my home(including me) with disdain and argued with us, and dismissed what we told him had gone wrong with the oven. During the service appointment, I stopped worrying so much that my oven didn’t work, and instead worried about how long this individual was going to remain in my home. He didn’t bring repair tools(«I don’t need them»), didn’t consult the manufacturer’s tech service line when he didn’t know what was wrong(«They’re not going to have any idea what to do anyway»), didn’t make any promises about when he would return to make the repair(«I’ll order a part»), didn’t contact us for 3 weeks to let us know if and when he was coming back, and simply wasted our time. I genuinely would never let this person walk through my front door again, for fear of a repeat performance. Please don’t make this mistake. When I compared notes with a few other people who had heard of this company, they let me know they had the same experience with multiple appointments. Please avoid them at all costs. They’ll charge you for service, and do exactly the opposite.

Two stars supposedly means, «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» For the purposes of this review, I think I’ve had worse. It seems as though all appliance repair persons enter my home with larceny in their hearts. I don’t mind paying a reasonable rate, but when someone comes in to my house to determine what work needs to be done(after I called and said what work needed to be done already), that they are not going to charge me $ 100 for a 5 minute«look» and a «we’ll order parts». Unlike other appliance repair places I’ve used, they fixed the broken item the first time they tried and the part was not marked up far beyond what I’d pay for it at retail. The service charge to install the part was also quite reasonable, just the initial $ 100(okay, $ 85 + tax) which puts the repairman’s rate at $ 17PERMINUTE for the initial look. No offer to credit me a part of that, either. Anyway, I am happy that my stove now is fixed. I won’t use these guys again though, not unless I have the new part on hand and ready for them to install on their first visit.
