This place got surprisingly busy during our visit. The oyster pancake was so ugly(not much for presentation) but tasted good. The waitress dropped off a dish that wasn’t ours at our table, we told her it wasn’t ours and she dropped it off at the right table — I would hate it if I knew my food was sitting at some other group’s table while they talked over it for 5 minutes. Yuck. Left the place feeling like I just ate an entire bulb of garlic and ate a pound of salt. I prefer Rocking Wok and Din Tai Fung for Taiwanese cuisine in this area.

The host is very friendly. The foods are good even though I’m not a Chinese. The hostess keep on speaking Chinese, even though she noticed that we can’t speak Chinese. It was a weird experience but the foods are good!

Today was the second time they didn’t serve the meal I ordered! I ordered grass jelly for dinner because I had no stomach for a full size meal, but it never came to our table! The waitress told me they were too busy to make it. AREYOUKIDDINGME?! What was it difficult about putting the toppings that were supposed to be ready in a bowl? They didn’t even ask me whether I would like to change to SOMETHINGTHEYCANMAKE, SOMETHINGCOSTSMORETHAN A DESSERTMAYBE? I will not come back to this place.

The food is way too salty and the service is terrible. We waited there with our water glasses empty for the entire meal. I wouldn’t recommend this to any of my friends. It sucks !

I actually stumbled into this place on accident. My boyfriend and I were simply walking by and I saw that they have Taiwanese breakfast so we stepped in for a quick bite. You can tell that the place is authentic based on the clientele. All asians in there at the time, including myself lol. We ordered some Chinese fried donuts and Soybean milk. Small portions, but tasty. Will definitely be coming back. Oh, don’t expect high quality service, it isn’t one of those places. It’s a bare bones, Chinese run restaurant that provides good food.

Soooooo BAD service!!! Today, I went there with my friend, the waiter refused to let us sit on the empty table but arrange us to share one table with others. I asked for table for twice and they said that is for 3+ people. What? First time knowing beside bar has age require, there is number of people requires for table. Ridiculous! Also, the restaurant seems so dirty. Never come again

Doesn’t quite measure up to the Henry’s in ID. To start, the restaurant is very, very small. There isn’t a comfortable space to wait and chances are you will be seated so close to another party it’ll feel like a communal table. So you’re packed like sardines and the service doesn’t help the case. They only had one guy serving all the tables and we had to flag him down several times for our orders. I really enjoyed the Train Bento(火車便當) back when this Henry’s first opened and recommended it to my boyfriend. We were a little dumbfounded by the large amount of rice under all the goods, so deceiving! My Fried Chicken Steak Meal(雞排套餐) wasn’t much better. For $ 5 more, I got a small pile of cold pickled veggies, a tea egg(茶葉蛋), and and a crazy amount of rice as well. The chicken was definitely a let down, it was like an under seasoned pile of popcorn chicken. We left wishing we ordered shared plates instead of individual meals.

If you are not afraid of garlic breath, this is a fantastic place. It’s full of flavor and is very very authentic. Love this place.

One of the best Taiwanese places I’ve been to so far. Almost everything was very authentic and prices are great! I was really craving beef noodle soup and ordered a large and the bowl was huge! The soup was on point and the flavor was just what I wanted. We also ordered the seasonal veggies, a bean crud and meat dish and the stinky tofu. The tofu had a sweet sauce and was not very authentic but still a good attempt. The other dishes were great and authentic. Didn’t get to order the lunchbox but saw a lot of people order it and will definitely try it next time I’m there. All dishes were less than 10 dollars and generous portions. Will definitely be coming back again and try other things!

Maybe I had too high of expectations after reading the comments when I came in, or maybe I was too homesick. The food is good, however, the fact that the food is sweet rather than salty really throws it off the Taiwanese food it is trying to replicate. The only thing I got that tasted pretty close was the hot and sour soup. I’ve seen quite some good reviews on here for the shop– I don’t know, maybe the longer I stay away from home the more it’ll taste like Taiwanese food after awhile? But as someone who was home about 2 months ago I’d say my taste buds are still pretty sensitive to the authenticity of what legitimate Taiwanese food tastes like.

I felt very much at home here. An actual Taiwanese restaurant with beef noodle soup?! Yes please! This was only my second stop on vacation and it definitely hit the spot for lunch. Service is excellent and so is the food. We ordered steamed dumplings to go with our meal and my friend didn’t want his egg so I took that. So good all the way around. Happy camper I was! I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in town. Try the dishes, you won’t be disappointed. You won’t find General Tso’s chicken or sweet and sour chicken from here. You’ll find all the cuisine that you would get if you flew into Taipei and found a café. This is that place!

1. Garlic pork belly. Obviously this is not the classic Szechuan one. But actually the flavor is okay. 2. Three cup chicken. Worst ever! I cooked this by myself before and this is not authentic at all! 3. Broccoli with oyster sauce. Again, follow the recipe online and you can do better than that!

Food is yummy, portions are huuuuge. Service a bit lacking(the waiter sitting by the door was looking at his phone or something and didn’t see me come in, so I stood there awkwardly for a few seconds looking for a hostess). Overall, a solid addition to UDist food options, especially for those wanting a more restaurant feel over café feel(i.e. Mee Sum)

Came here for lunch with Kyla H. I ordered the supreme Taiwanese lunchbox and she ordered the hand shaven noodles with pork. My food came out in an actual metal lunch box with no lid containing pork, mushrooms, veggies, and an egg over rice. At first glance I was skeptical that I would be full afterwards, but they proceeded to bring out two pork chops to round out the meal. This is lunch in Taiwan? Those cats know how to party. The pork chops were salty and seasoned with a lot of spices that I don’t usually associate with pork chops(was that cinnamon? Turmeric? Who knows). The veggies in my dish included baby bok choi, mushrooms, and some little pickled buggers that I couldn’t identify. I’m sure at this point I have lost any foodie credibility I may have had. I was happy with my choice though, and I wasn’t quite able to polish everything off. Kyla’s noodles were thick and satisfying. They came with a light gravy sauce and plenty of pork and bean sprouts. My biggest bone to pick was the service. I’m usually the last to care about service as long as I get my order taken promptly and my food gets to me in a reasonable time, but our server was legitimately gruff. Anyways not a huge deal for me but I thought it was worth including. We paid about $ 9 each before tax and tip.

MANGWHODISWITEGUYSPEAKINGASIANTOME??? seriously, there’s this dude who speaks chinese to me and my frand, and every time, i reply back to him in English. happened three times, and he comes back speaking Chinese every time, and we English the hell out of him. #1 rule of customer service: know your customer… lulz We get seated next right next to another couple, like heyyyyy… spontaneous double date? Oh wait, you know Chinese wayy better than I do. Can I just sit under the TV? There’s a perfectly good two-seater under the TV… We order the beef tendon with chili oil sauce to start off with, and then we get a couple of taiwanese lunchboxes. The beef tendon appetizer becomes forgotten, we get our lunchboxes first, and things get awkward. We reorder the beef tendon, gets to us after we’re halfway through our entrée, and things get weird. See, the thing is, I love beef tendon in chili oil sauce. dey just done fuxed up here, and the sauce is so strong and SONOTCHILIOIL-ESQUE that it just becomes inedible. graceless. Taiwanese lunchboxes are quite tasty though. Especially the super taiwanese lunchbox which gives you bok choy and an additional pork chop for only $ 1 more! For 6.95(or 7.95 if you get the super), it’s a pretty good value. It’ll fill yer up, and taste is perfectly good if not great. The taiwanese lunchbox comes with rice, pickled vegetables, meat bits, and a pork chop on the side. There’s also a hard boiled egg, still in its shell, so you get to burn yr hands peeling it off. It’s an undesirable ritual. Strong 2 to a Light 3

This place is just okay. Definitely not bad but I would rather go to another Taiwanese restaurant if I lived closer to some others. I’ve gotten the seafood hotpot before and the mapo tofu. They were both decent and the price wasn’t too bad but they weren’t good enough to have me want to actively come back for more.

Delicious! We ordered a bunch of dishes: stinky tofu with preserved egg, wontons in chili sauce, hot and sour soup, hand shaven noodles with pork, and beef noodle soup. Everything was delicious! The stinky tofu was great. I made my(non-Chinese) friend try it and she was a good sport, even though she didn’t really enjoy it. I personally love stinky tofu, and it was perfectly stinky and yummy. The wontons were surprisingly good; I really liked the sauce. The hot and sour soup was pretty typical, but they did a great job. The hand shaven noodles were really good, and that was my BF’s favorite out of all the dishes. The beef noodle soup was also pretty good. I wasn’t a fan of the noodles, but the broth and the beef were delicious. Definitely a great place for great Taiwanese food!

Maybe I’m not really a fan of Taiwanese food, or maybe I’m just too white and this place is too authentic for me or maybe I just made poor menu choices, but I wasn’t overly impressed with Henry’s Taiwan. Take my opinion with a grain of salt, though, because your mileage may vary. Came here for lunch with a friend. Space itself is standard, nothing to write home about, and the service was fine. We ordered the chili wontons, stinky tofu with kimchi and pork and pickled vegetables noodle soup. The wontons were by far my favorite, juicy and flavorful, although somewhat too small. I’d eat an entire order by myself! The noodle soup was good, although the broth was rather bland — I would have liked some more spices or salt or chili oil or something to deepen the flavor. And the stinky tofu… well, I surmise that it’s one of those polarizing dishes that you either love or hate, and we both hated it. Whoops. We each ate a piece or two and sent the rest back — I would have appreciated if they’d take it off the bill, but it wasn’t their mistake or fault that we didn’t end up having the palate for it, so I don’t blame them. Overall, didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. I’d stop by and grab some chili wontons to go, or try the 3-cup chicken next time.

I liked Henry’s. Stopped in here for dinner and we ordered way too much food. One thing about this place, the portions are NOT Taiwanese sized… they’re definitely American sized. We got the rice roll which was almost the size of a Pringles can. We also had the meatball(ba wan) which was soft and fresh. The tripe in chili oil was super flavorful, although next time I may order either the tendon or 2 spice(tendon and tripe) instead as a whole plate of tripe was quite a bit. We also had a large beef noodle soup which was gigantic and plenty for sharing. The popcorn chicken came out hot and flavorful. Price wise, cheaper for some things, for example the rice roll was around $ 4 and the beef noodle soup was $ 7 something for the large. The popcorn chicken was around $ 10, but the portion was definitely larger than other places. Will be back.
