I’ve seen Sheila Triplett maybe 4 times and 3 out of 4 of those experiences were pretty bad. I was hesitant to do a review because it’s really hard to find black hair stylists in Seattle but people should really know what they’re in for with Sheila. She’s generally unprofessional — she takes a very, very long time, she gives you TMI about her personal life, scoffs down fast food while she’s doing your hair and juggles several clients at once. She will quickly give you ‘tude if you look slightly unhappy about any of this. Once, I was there one day for 9 hours for a service that my regular stylist does in 2 hours — no hyperbole. NINE. HOURS. Once, she just disappeared: I made an appointment, even talked to her on the phone. When I followed-up to ask whether she’d picked up the supplies for my appointment, she never responded and was a no show. She called maybe a few weeks later apologizing b/c she had«personal issues.» I was a fool and was forgiving and gave her 1 more try when my regular stylist had a conflict. BIG mistake. She not only rescheduled me for 2 hours later(when I was in my car about to head over), she was late starting and still took 9 hours. She thinks she’s working hard and getting ahead by double and triple booking but at that rate she’s making less than minimum wage. And you would think that a «good stylist takes longer.» NOTTRUE — the quality of my hair when I see my 2-hour-stylist is the same if not better than Sheila. Plus, she has some hair school which is frightening. She’s teaching other stylist(and lord knows we need more black stylists in this city) to do hair in 10 hours and give you attitude. God help us all.

I have been going to Sheila for the past year, and don’t let anyone else do my hair. The last reviews have pushed me over the edge to defend sheila’s work. Sheila is very flexible with time, and dedicated to quality work. I have had early morning appointments with her before the sun came up when I was in need of my hair being done before a job interview, all the way to having been in the salon into the late hours to once again accommodate my needs. So if you have a desire to get out of the salon early in the day, I suggest you to book an appointment earlier in the day because if you book an appointment for 8pm like the previous review talked about, and then are unhappy about getting out late at night, I just don’t see the logic here. Sheila was the hair stylist for my wedding this past June, and came on site to style my hair. Since this last summer, Sheila has been braiding my hair in singles small-medium width. Sheila’s braids have never slipped out, and I get constant complements on them. I have never gotten hair loss from Sheila’s braids, and still have all of my edges intact which would provide evidence that she doesn’t braid tighter then what is necessary for a braid to hold. Sheila will work with you on what your natural hair goals are, such as I want to promote hair growth, and Sheila has been helping me to do this. Sheila provides premium sanitary hair conditions with fresh clean combs and tools which is very important to me. I will reiterate again, Sheila is very accommodating to schedules and does her best to work with you.

I had the most horrible experience with this lady. I made a appointment and I stayed at the salon for 4 hours just so she can start on my hair, to make matters worst she has a HORRIBLEATTITUDE !!!

First of all, I’d like to say she did a good job with my braids, but had terrible service. Sheila was an hour late for my appointment. This wouldn’t be a big deal if it wasn’t followed by 11 hours in the chair, and my hair was not even completed. She also asked me to sit in a folding chair for a few hours while she sat in the salon chair. It was very uncomfortable. I decided to go somewhere else the following day to finish my braids. Sheila seems like a nice person who knows what she’s doing with hair, but showed me some very bad customer service.

Shelia is awesome! If you’re looking for someone who knows hair go to Shelia! She knows her stuff! After looking at reviews on Unilocal,I decided to go with her because of the other high reviews, she did not disappoint. She knows a lot about natural hair and tells you how to maintain it. I got lucky finding Shelia! I’ll be back!

SO glad I met shiela! I am a cosmetogist, so I have had my fair share of chemical breakage. I thought there was nothing I could do about it but let it grow; which wasn’t the case. Shiela and I spent 15 hours together trying to get the exact color. I was so happy that someone would take the time to see me 100% satisfied(she never have up!). It looks 100% natural, and being my first time with a weave– the braiding did not hurt my head. Her prices are amazing and I highly suggest this for anyone, anyone who feels hopeless about their hair. I’ve never felt so beautiful! :)

I found Sheila on Unilocal and I have to say, she was amazing. My hair is about 4 – 5 inches long and she was able to work with it. She did a flat twist for my natural hair and it looked really good. I was able to keep that style for a month and then took it out. I am going to try braids next.

I met Sheila at a grocery store in June 2013 and it was a God send. My hair was breaking off and I had been wearing wigs for a couple of months just to give it some rest. Sheila agreed to meet me at a hair supply shop so that we could come up with a style and pick out hair. Of course none of the hair met the quality that she can get for you. We decided to do a sew-in and she was able to manage braiding my uneven damaged hair and I tell you she was so quick with sewing the tracks in and it was just beautiful when it was completed. It is now September and I just made my 2nd appt. and can’t wait for her to see the growth my hair has had since June. She knows hair and I trust her advice. What’s really refreshing about Sheila is her attitude! She is very professional, and yet has a very pleasant demeanor that makes it comfortable to talk to her. She is now my stylist while she is here in Seattle!

If you want your hair done right, you need Ms Sheila to make it happen. She did a sew in Wig for me and it was amazing. I trust her with my hair and I always look amazing when she is done. I’m getting a weave next :)

I flew in from London a few days a ago for a gig singing at a wedding and disaster struck with my hair. I needed an experienced, knowledgable and creative hairdresser to redo my hair extensions and style them to a high standard. Being an opera singer, much is expected in terms of appearance and self presentation and I was in desperately needing someone. I found Sheila and what a GODSEND. We was was professional, able to respond to my needs and gave me a whole new look. I wish she was my hair stylist in London! Ladies — we need more professionals in this industry like Shelia. She has knowledge of virgin hair, extensions, styles, health for hair and general maintenance. Brilliant, an expert and a safe pair of hands — I would recommend Sheila in a heartbeat. Helen Karikari
