Frelard Tamales

Growing up, my best friend’s mom would make tamales every Christmas and I always got to be a part of the fun (both making and eating). It’s been years since I’ve been able to replicate those memories with any quality. Frelard tamales are AMAZING! I ordered two dozen (mixed) for a family get together and everyone was thrilled with these amazing tamales.

I would’ve submitted a photo, but they’re all gone. we ordered several dozen cooked and frozen tamales from osbaldo based on a referral from the Ballard Community group on Facebook. OH MAN did that group not fail me. We ordered jalapeño+cheese, bean+cheese, mild chicken, and pork tamales. Frelard Tamales makes it CRAZY EASY to order online and pay online and you have the option to deliver for a very tiny fee (like $ 3?) or pick up. I had my friend pick up. I would also like to add that they were so generous with their discounts. I got 10% off because I used a referral, then there was a mystery discount. Found out a day later that they had a buy a dozen, get 2 tamales free discount they email blasted about. SWEET! thanks for thinking of me!
pick up: Great communications. I got texts saying they were at the pick up site, offering help if we needed any to find them, and clear instructions via email after ordering. The cooked tamales were piping hot and the frozen ones were packed ready to chuck in the freezer. jalapeño and cheese were the crowd favorites.
buy by the dozen, not by adorable onesies and twosies here and there. This is a guaranteed way to WIN with your friends. For those who are gluten free, all tamales are. for those who are lactose intolerant or dairy free, they all are unless cheese is a named flavor (ie, no brainer Jalp/​cheese or bean/​cheese). WIN WIN WIN WINNING!

Tried one of each over the weekend. Wished I had ordered more because I was craving them all weekend. My personal favorite is the chicken with green sauce. I make tamales and I am a bit of a foodie so I do not have a easy to please palette but these tamales I can not recommend high enough. I loved each and every bite. It is hard to find good tamales now that grandma has passed but since she is gone I can say, these are even better then what I grew up with. Order some and you will be sad you did not order more. Yum!

I don’t know where else you can get home cooked tamales made-​to-​order and steamin’ hot at pick-​up. The ordering process went smoothly and the customer service was extremely attentive and flexible. Prices are reasonable, especially when compared to a restaurant. Overall, the jalapeño cheese and bean and cheese tamales are to die for!
