Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery

As a long-​time member, I was excited when Flying Bike opened its doors. The always-​on-​tap beers originate from member recipes, and the other taps rotate with whatever the talented head brewer feels like brewing at the time. The beer servers are friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is laid-​back, and you can order food from the café next door and have it delivered right to your seat. Kids and dogs are welcome. Member happy hour is daily 4 – 7 pm. It’s a wonderful addition to the Greenwood neighborhood! If you’re not a member, please join!

Love this place! SO many beers on tap and its a co-​op so you feel great supporting them. They are also dog friendly and can get you food from the place next door, which is delicious! Lavendar IPA was a personal favorite!

Great brews in a comfortable space. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful, and the beers on tap have shown that great creativity has gone into producing these well-​balanced brews. It’s definitely not the typical, dark ‘pub vibe’…more of a neighborhood gathering place, which also welcomes (well-​behaved) children and dogs. You can bring your own food, or order a selection from Munch (next door) at the bar and the food will be delivered to you as soon as it’s ready. This is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
My favorites are the Storm Cycle CDA (Cascadia Dark Ale), Fly-​PA, and the Little Nikita Coffee Stout. Head brewer Kevin Forhan has 25+ years experience in the Seattle brewing community, and he’s always coming up with something new and interesting.
(Disclaimer: Yes, I’m a member/​owner there. My wife and I were walking back from the store one evening when we noticed the construction and a poster in the window announcing a ‘co-​op brewery’. We checked into it, and we both have memberships now, along with several friends. We even helped during the 7-​month construction phase prior to opening, so we have a little extra pride in the sweat equity we gladly contributed. We have brought a lot of other friends for a brew or three and quick brewery tour, and all have been impressed with the space and brews. Member #967)

Great beer, lively vibe, dog friendly, great addition to both Greenwood and the beer community. I like the co-​op idea as a way to involve people in the business and product. At first I was skeptical thinking that the beer quality might suffer in the co-​op format, but the beer is excellent and reasonably priced. Great selection across many styles and will have something for all beer preferences.

Wonderful beer, but the staff seemed like it was a bother to wait on me. They seemed to be too busy on their cell phones.

Great PNW beer both in taste and mission. Washington state’s first Co-​Op Brewery is a great addition to Seattle’s beer scene!
Love each new beer I have tried here, especially the Lavender IPA and the Bike Rye’d Saison!
They even did a recent collaboration beer, Brewmance, with Naked City Brewery next door that was so tasty ! Talk about good neighbors!
Great open space seating and layout, with tasty treats available from Munch Café next door.
I was sold even before I had the beer, but once I had beer from MY brewery, I was one happy member.

I have fallen madly in love with this brewery and feel like I could become a regular here!
This brewery is a cooperative which means there are a number of indviduals are involved with the brewing of the beer. Each member has their own recipe ideas which means the beer selection is going to be diverse and relatively sizeable.
I got two beers here. One was a mushroom beer which I really liked a lot. However I also REALLY liked a lot a Lavender IPA that was consumed in the second round. Both beers made by different brewers, both beers wildly different in general and from each other.
I am in this neighborhood or nearby about once a month so the added incentive of staying a bit longer there by going to this brewery will involve no painful arm twisting at all!

I’m not sure if it is standard Flying Bike practice or common to the trade, but I would like to think that only Tess has turned filling a growler into an art form. Filling a bottle with delicious beer doesn’t really seem complicated but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bartender take the time to ensure that every bottle is filled to the very top, absolutely foam free. 64 ounces of perfection.
Also, I’m kinda chubby and Tess pays attention to me all the time. No big deal.
Try the black n’ tan.
Eat munch.

Go there it’s fabulous! Beautiful space, and Tess is the best bartender! She is so welcoming and very attentive. She helps tailor your experience by asking what beers you generally gravitate towards and then offers appropriate samples. Love the fly-​pa, and I’m excited for new beers to appear on tap. Really laid back, unpretentious environment. Greenwood continues to grow and hopefully more establishments open with this type of atmosphere.
Layout is very spacious with high ceilings and that open garage door design out front. This sure seems to dissipate the need to scream in order to hear others during busy hours.
Staff has been very upbeat and patient with all the new customers. The bartenders are always wiping down and cleaning up vs preoccupation with their cell phones.
As far as the product goes, not bad at all!!! Not too many taps (less than 10 I believe), as this is a classic example of quality over quantity. You’ll find the usual Pacific NW hoppy drinks along with a very very GOOD stout (maybe it was a porter) called 7 Spokes.
I’m sure more taps are on the horizon along with some Pilsner/​Lager type drinks in the future.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the prices are some of the BEST I’ve seen in a while.

Love the beer! Love the décor! Love the place. Love the concept. I’m a member owner and the idea of having an input into the next beer we brew is so novel. Well played Flying Bike, well played.

FYI if a guy is standing at the bar with his card in his hand, he wants to pay for his drinks and leave. Apparently if you’re an unattractive fat guy you’re going to be waiting a long long long time because that cute girl behind the bar has the ability to ignore you indefinitely. Good beer, but the snobby girl ruined it for me. I bought a membership to be ignored?

Nice to finally see a brewery in this neighborhood, nice open concept and love the fact that we can bring our dog with us.

I was quite impressed with Flying Bike. The space is open and inviting with plenty of room for lots of people. The restaurant next door will deliver to your seat. And the beers are delicious! The Rye Saison is legitimately one of the best beers I have ever had. It’s hard to find something unique and different in the beer world, but the Rye Saison is unlike anything I’ve had anywhere else.
