Was a great place to grab a gyro. It’s been sold and is currently closed. Rumor is yet another Phở place will be opening in this location. It’s a shame.

Oh my goodness, this was like walking into«Kitchen Nightmares» with chef Ramsey… kinda wanna sign them up for that show. I should have turned around as soon as I walked in the door and smell that old, unclean, slightly moldy, old people smell. I ordered a simple hamburger, and the entire time I was waiting, the only thing I heard was the microwave. The Burger came and was tough,(its really difficult to overcook a hamburger) The feta cheese seemed old, and my friend got a pair of rotten tomato pieces! The service was terrible, the old lady just kinda walked around and didn’t seem to have any priorities. This place needs a makeover as well as a steam cleaning and a new owner. The ugly outside cover is just as bad as whats on the inside.

Very good food at an excellent price. The gyro burger was tasty. A great selection of Greek and American dishes

Great breakfasts! Lunch is pretty good too. ;-) The service can be a little slow but always kind. I wish they would offer eggs benedict on their menu, and the reuben. The customers can be interesting to say the least…

Dive bar on the outside, Greek diner on the inside complete with old stools and booths, and Greek murals on the wall. Breakfast fare is pretty standard greasy post-hangover food with the addition of some Greek items. I had never had loukaniko before(Greek sausage) but it hit the spot. Service isn’t exactly friendly but it is quick.

Unpretentious, home style tasty food and coffee and friendly service. No back cramp inducing café chairs, just comfy booths and bar stools. Whenever I visit the US I look for places like this, particularly for breakfast because they always fill a corner in your belly and make you feel welcome. I had a simple bacon and eggs with hash browns… The bacon was done extra crispy and the eggs perfectly cooked over easy. Look forward to trying the Belgian waffles next time(you need to be here before 11am or after 2pm for those).

3.5 if I could. The place feels kind of sad when you walk in. I don’t really know any better way to describe it. Service has been fine, nothing over the top. They get your order fairly quickly, diner style. Breakfast was pretty good, with a huge portion of properly cooked eggs. An appetizer combo was clearly bought frozen and fried on site and it was lacking all around. I have yet to try the happy hour, since I have also yet to make it to the back bar area. It runs from 4 – 8 daily, and seems like a good deal.

I’ve been coming to the FHB&G for years. When we first moved back to Seattle in the late 90’s, we started coming here pretty regularly. Not sure why this place, per se, but it just happened. Once we figured out that the bar was back there, then it made so much more sense! The breakfasts are greasy/good, with tons of food. The regular stuff on the menu is alright but I have to give props to the chicken skewers in the souvlaki– they have the best flavor EVER. So fresh tasting, so delicious! If you want a little hideaway where the drinks ain’t fancy but they’re strong and good, slide in past the counter, turn left just by the bathrooms and then go to the end, there’s the bar, where you’ll likely find me if I’m there.

So, I have gone there 4 – 5 times. I try to go on Thursdays as the special is gyros with real beef/lamb. The rest of the week it is chicken. I ask for Tzatsiki sauce as opposed to the red sauce they normally use. The special comes with an awesome navy bean soup that I really enjoy. For $ 10 or less you can get a great meal, great service and tasty meal options

Storytime… Post move I was getting dizzy. Feeling faint. More than likely this was due to the fact I had been living off of coffee and a total of 3 doughnuts in a 24 hour time span while I was moving 2 apartments into one. My body was exhausted and sore and was demanding I feed it something with a bit more nutritional value. A quick drive down the street with the last pair of friends to help us move and we walk into a diner that is screaming the 60’s like nothing else. It was too early and I was far to physically wrecked for a drink, but the back bar area looked like a fun place to hang out and imbibe on a low key evening. First off — the appetizer. Basically a giant piece of fried cheese that they bring to the table, dump a shot of alcohol on, and then set on fire right in front of your eyes. Entertaining and delicious. I mean. It is cheese. That was fried and then went all flambé… I could have eaten the entire thing myself. SOYUMMY. Next up – my meal. I went for the patty melt sans onions — and oh deary. It was just what my dizzy-to-fainting body needed. The rye was flavorful and toasted just right, the swiss cheese melted all gooey and perfect, and the burger inside juicy and filling. Throw on a side of perfectly cooked fries and I think I have found my new First Hill comfort meal go-to. A nibble of spanikopita was stolen as well and it was savory and delicious. Get it with a side of Greek salad and you have an awesome meal there was well. Prices are decent considering the portion sizes(aka huge). I left the First Hill bar & Grill full, happy, and feeling like I could take on the task of unpacking my new apartment again. So… you have Greek diner fare with friendly service, big portions, and a giant FLAMING piece of fried cheese! Hells yes, I like it here.

Don’t be deterred by the exterior, and interior, décor. I stumbled in here one Sunday, exhausted and looking for breakfast at 2 in the afternoon. In fact, I almost didn’t stop– it was only on a whim that I peeked at the menu on the door and realized that I’d found what I’ve been looking for since I moved to Seattle: a Greek diner that serves breakfast all day and has baklava to go. And it was less than a block from my door! The food is standard diner fare, a little pricier than I would normally expect– but Seattle’s expensive in general. The waitress was very sweet, she kept my coffee cup full and didn’t seem to mind that I sat and read while I slowly eating my huge plate of eggs. The cook did the bacon just right, perfectly crunchy without getting burned. I told my sister about this place(we’ve both been lamenting the lack of Greek diners here, compared to Detroit where we grew up) and we both can’t wait to go for a lazy mid-morning breakfast.

I’m starting to lose faith in any of the gyro places around downtown. Being a diner with a Greek twist, you would think they had some pretty good Greek food. I’m really only giving them 3 stars because they provided decent service. In short: the gyro was OK but very undersized. Just a few pieces of meat, seemed to have been lacking certain key ingredients, and was overpriced by at least two dollars in my opinion. At least throw the fries in if you want to charge this much. Fries were an additional two bucks. I can’t create an opinion for the rest of the menu, just don’t come here for the gyros.

We decided to come here based on a Unilocal review… As everyone said, the staff is friendly and the place is cozy. I ordered the spinach and feta omelet. and wow it was greasy! So greasy that I really couldn’t eat it… I mainly took the filling out of it and mixed it with my hashbrowns… My boyfriend got the beef gyro meat omelet… He agreed about the greasyness as well… although the meat was really, really tasty! I don’t think I would return here for breakfast, based on that, but maybe again for lunch or dinner because the flavor combinations were definitely on point! Oh… and the coffee was great and constantly flowing too! …hopefully my updated review after I try lunch or dinner here will warrant more stars… i really want to love this place!

Such a nice little diner! This is a great little diner sort of tucked away on First Hill. It’s a family owned joint with a home cooking sort of vibe to it. There’s something about good breakfast food that always makes my heart flutter a little bit… either that or that fat kid that lives inside me to smile from ear to ear. The service is very friendly and the food is actually really good. I would recommend this place to anyone and I have recommended this place to many a friend. 4 get-the-hamburger-steak-breakfast-platter stars out of 5

Don’t let the exterior shy you away from this little family owned diner. I had read the other reviews about this place and it tempted me to try this place out. I highly suggest coming here for breakfast/brunch! The food is amazing but the people that own this place make it a fun experience. I seriously felt like I was at that Greek family owned restaurant from«My Big Fat Greek Wedding!» The family members are super friendly and really funny, and their patron friends are a hoot! If you are looking for a «greasy spoon breakfast,» as they say, then I suggest you give this place a try. It’s like The Olive Garden’s slogan, «When you’re here, you’re family!»

I really just wanted a greasy spoon breakfast and I will say I wasn’t disapointed here. The ambiance is your typical greasy spoon meets greek restaurant and the server was an older lady who looked like she’d been doing this for years. The food was ok, my greek sausage and eggs was tasty and greasy just how i wanted and my partners omelett was pretty much what you would expect. The hash browns could have been a little more crispy but other then that its a good place to go soak up the alcohol remnants of a morning after hangover.

Per many a reviewer’s observation, despite what this place looks like on the outside, this is a greek diner. Ended up here for lunch the other day. The waitress was very nice and was helpful with the menu. I had the spanakopita(spinach pie) which wasn’t the best I’ve had. Kind of microwaved warmed up. The lentil soup however was very good. I wish they had a few more lamb options(do have lamb chops) for a greek establishment but oh well.

How have I lived in Seattle since 1990, and on Capitol Hill for over a decade and never eaten here before. Maybe because they bill themselves as a bar and grill as opposed to a diner… This place is pure Greek diner east coast style. The light up statue of Aphrodite, don’t call her Venus or you will get schooled by the waitress/owner. The last booth that is for family and friends only, the Ben Bridge clock on the wall and the $ 0.25 cologne dispenser in the Men’s bathroom all combine to make this place a JEM. Food is decent Greek diner food and they have a Monte Cristo! For some reason they don’t seem to salt the fries which makes no sense to me but cest la vie. I have eaten here twice in two days and can only imagine I will be back next week as well.

This place honestly scared me for a long time… the exterior made of that material that is like little man made pebbles all glued together, swarthy, neon sign says ‘cocktails.’ …Then one drunken night we found ourselves in dire need of breakfast… I recall a delicious omelet with peppers and spicy sausage with a cold beer. Turns out this little cave of a place is run by a lovely Greek family who is always there to cure even my worst hang overs. Try the loukaniko omelette with feta and tomato. Portions are large enough for two for sure. I prefer to eat on my meal for the whole day long as the ultimate battle against what I refer to as «Jameson stomach.» It works. I swear.
