Elite Event @ Elliott’s Oyster House

Yay… Thank Michelle for setting up such a rad party… My guest and I couldn’t get enough of the shrimp-​puff pastry and smoked salmon on the rye bread!!! This was his second time eating oysters and I was so happy we could go to town.
The oyster luge was definitely a «special» touch with many suggestive pictures to live on in infamy.
However one thing…(and this is only b/​c we went to Vessel for more drinks afterwards) is oysters + other apps + cocktails + beers while waiting in line for cocktails + vessel-​ness = funny stomach… but worth it nonetheless!

First off, thanks to Michelle for planning this fun and informational event!
This event was the first time I attended by myself so I was forced to meet some fellow Unilocal elite members and it turned out to be alot of fun! What better way to pass the time in the long drink line than to chat it up with your neighbor? The drinks, all with a rum base, were great. The one that stands out in my head is the one with rum and espresso which piqued my interest as soon as I heard about it. It was great!
To quote Gourmet magazine, «In Seattle, Elliott’s is the place to go for oysters.» Well, I don’t know if this is completely true because this was the night that I had my first oyster! It was great and the execute chef was very informative on how to eat it and on helping me differentiate between them.
Can’t wait for the next event!

I’ve no idea how many of those bivalve mollusks I slurped at this event, not that I would attempt to count (boys count, men drink – or in this case, slurp). The fact that I was able to consume delicious oysters with reckless abandon is near enough reason alone to give this event five stars.
The salmon appetizers and shrimp appetizers, along with all the friendly faces – new and old – solidify the five star rating.
We didn’t even take advantage of the bar, except for one beer I snagged off a server’s tray, since we were heading out of town the next day and needed to get an early start. From what I could tell, though, by the Unilocalers nearly falling all over each other with slightly glazed, satisfied looks in their eyes, this had to be the best bar at any event yet.
I’d like to give props to the staff at this event. They sure made us feel welcome, from Elliott’s general manager greeting us personally upon our arrival, to the servers consistently approaching us with smiles and trays full of appetizers. It’s amazing what a staff that is happy to be doing their work can add to any situation. I was pleased enough that I wrote to Elliott’s the day after to express my thanks for their efforts in impressing such a boisterous and implicitly demanding group.

I am no longer a Unilocal elite event virgin. And y’alls were ever so gentle with me! Elites sure now how to treat a lady!
I never got a rum drink because I was WAY too excited to meet all of my no-​longer-​imaginary friends. Wine was just fine with me though. Whatever lubricated the mingling frenzy, right?
And who knew I liked oysters so much? I was afraid I had ocean breath though… And I’ll admit I chickened out of the luge. Maybe if there was a bacon luge… Work on that for the next party Michelle!
It was really great to meet so many freaking fantastic people. And I plan on meeting more next time. Remind me to wear more comfy shoes next time, will ya?

Most off the hook elite event so far. This was a complete winfest.
Dedicated bartenders slinging free drinks, oysters sliding around on ice, lushed out Unilocalers eating rocktastic horderves.
Also everyone turned out. It was pure awesome.
My +1 also drove me home which was further winning. A great evening. We should do this again, Unilocal!.until my liver gives out anyway: D

Wow, this was awesome! It was my first Elite event and it did not disappoint. Good food, great people, free drinks, free drinks and, oh, man, what am I forgetting? Oh, yeah: free drinks! The oysters were pretty good but the shrimp appetizers were frickin’ delicious.
One issue: There was music but it went out off and on and then stayed off. After thinking about it, I think I have an explanation: We blew the fuses’ mind with our collective hipness and coolness. We don’t even need music!
I’ll take what Charlie said a step further: Michelle for Master of the Universe! She’d totally own He-Man’s sorry ass.

Rather than running out of food or drink like some places have in the past, these guys even went late, and were nice enough to go off-​menu and let me try out the Tommy Bahama in a Rum & Coke. Quite nice! Thank you Elliott’s and Mr. Bahama!
While the event was helpless to move my opinion of raw oysters past indifferent at best, it gave me a new favorite with the scallops. Those appetizers were amazing.

My first Unilocal event, and as y’all know, you never forget your first.
Thank you Elliott’s, Tommy Bahama, and Michelle and the Unilocal staff for putting on such an awesome night for us. I can’t wait for the next event!

This was my first Unilocal event. Initially, I was a little timid about going but luckily I have some friends who Unilocal so I was able to get the courage to come to such an awesome event. I was simply amazed by the whole experience.
The drink and food catering. WOW… Really?! My girlfriend looked at me with a look exactly like a caveman discovering fire for the first time when she saw the fresh oysters being shucked constantly and rum endlessly being poured to make colorful tasty drinks.
More than the food and drinks, I was SO amazed by the people. Every single person I talk to was not only very unique and interesting, but also extremely friendly. I kept catching myself being in awe of the situation because I kept realizing a virtual world becoming a total reality at this event. It was no longer this false sense of friendship but it became real when you are able to talk to «friends» in real life. In a very weird way, that is pretty cool. Scott posed a really good question, «Who does this? What website like Unilocal does this?» as he looked around the room. I could only agree with him. Totally disproves the popular notion that the internet only isolates us from each other. Unilocal events like this shows that internet can be used to create connection and real life community with others.
I want to thank Unilocal and everybody who worked to put this together for the food, drinks and the great opportunity to connect with people. I definitely will be at the next one!

Each one seems to complete me on a new level.
Now I know an oyster luge is cool but please tell me that somebody actually used this thing for its intended purpose and poured liquor down it.

Five gigantic, ridiculous stars to Michelle and Elliott’s and Tommy Bahama!
Though those poor bartenders got WORKED, they did a fantastic job at trying to keep up with the ever increasing number of Unilocalers.
I did not try any oysters as I am not a fan, but the salmon thingies were deelish, at one point I think I practically ran one of those servers down trying to get the last treat on her tray.
Unilocalers, y’all are rockstars.

The key to the drink line was to order your drink (or two), then head back to the end of the line. Appetizers came to you and when you’re done with your drink, you’re ready to order another one. :)

Oh, oysters all night
And the drinks were a-​flowin’
You make my head hurt

I admit that it was the prospect of eating a sick amount of free oysters that got me to abandon my child, but it was the amazing people that are Seattle Unilocal that kept me there an hour longer than I intended.
Fabulous to get to spend some REAL time with Katie, Janeane, Jessica Y., Jessi M., Ian M., Carrie, Tony G., MMAD, Bernadette, and Corey among others for the first time. Also nice to know that I have the upper body strength to hold Maia up — all that weight training is really paying off, right?
Elliott’s did an amazing job of keeping a gaggle of very high maintenance people happy — when I asked when more scallops were coming, a tray came directly to me in minutes and were DELICIOUS. Loved the prawn with the fruity salsa goodness on the puff pastry too. NUM. The shuckers were all over it — I am certain that I put away at least 2 dozen of the best little pearl makers in the PNW. The slush mignonette was a nice variation on the classic condiment –yum. I have to say that I have been a bit of a snob about this place — putting Oceanaire, Chandler’s, the Brooklyn et. al in higher esteem. I am over that — chain or not, Elliott’s does oysters right.
And of course, a great big THANK YOU AND WAY TO WORK IT OUT to Michelle B. — the world’s most amazing Unilocaler.

Great night! The food and drinks were excellent. Smoked salmon with herbed cheese, curried scallops, kumamoto oysters… Great job by the bartenders to keep up with us, and by the service staff to keep more food coming out than we could eat (and for busting out the beer to wash down the glasses of rum).
I don’t know how you do it Michelle, but somehow the events get better and better. Thanks so much for all you did to put this together.

Five HUGE stars to everyone who made it out last night to party with us on a Thursday night!
It was a typical Unilocal party with people excitedly meeting one another, swapping name tags, snapping pictures, kicking back the cocktails (even if the line did get really long at one point y’all were good sports, and the folks at Elliott’s swung into action to provide beer & wine while you waited for rum cocktails, yeah, they know Unilocalers!) and partaking in the oyster luge.
A last minute addition to the oyster luge was the «Tofluge» which consisted of tofu flying down the ice luge at break neck speeds towards the awaiting vegetarians. Go Tofluge!!!
