Dreamstrands Comics & Such

I was very impressed with Dreamstrands Comics! They had a huge inventory of comics, both current titles and old ones that are easy to get to. They also have an impressive action figure collection which I pay more attention to nowadays than comic books. They have games and all kinds of lovely items for your inner and outer geek. The staff is very friendly and informative and will assist you happily with your questions!

Highly recomended. Great service good time every time I pick up my box. Good selection and sugestions from Gabe and the other staff. Sundays they have heroclix, with a decent sized crowd.

Very good shop. Has a good amount of back issues, nice selection of trades.
They also have a punch card system where you can get discounts — very cool.

Love this place! Employees are always super friendly, and it’s fun to search through their 5 cent mtg bin. Their comic book selection is huge as well!

I have been a comic book and fantasy fan all my life. Any lady who has had the privileged of dating me will know that my brain is packed full of random sci-​fi trivia answers. This little nugget on 85^th reminds me of a better time. When my days were filled with the latest X-​Men, Punisher, and Batman releases.
The establishment is small and jammed with all things nerd! However, it’s is well organized and easy to move around in. On this day there were at least 4 pvp games going on. Energy in the air almost made me sit down and be all fanboy on the players.
I like these smaller establishments because it makes me feel like i’m supporting both the residential community and the nerd community.

I love this place:) Everyone is super friendly and have a lot of comic and gaming knowledge. Gabe took nearly an hour to teach my son and I how to play magic. They have an eclectic selection of comics from the big two (dc & marvel) as well as indie comics as well:)

Oh man, I love Dreamstrands. I went in almost a year ago feeling nervous because I was curious about Deadpool. I’d been to some comic shops in the past and felt totally looked down on or judged because I had questions and hadn’t been reading comics my whole life. I was so relived by my experience there. My questions were answered and I left with a Deadpool book. Eventually I opened up a subscription thingy there and am a total regular.
Gabe is awesome. He is super knowledgeable about all things comics and won’t make you feel like he’s judging you based on what you like to read.
I love that it’s so close to where I live and it’s kid friendly. As a mom it’s great to find places in Seattle where they welcome kids. Not just tolerate them. The bottom rows on one wall have tons of kid friendly comics which means my kiddo can be entertained while I’m browsing around or chatting.
If you ever feel like hitting up a comic shop Dreamstrands is the place to go!

They fit a fantastic amount of fun stuff into this little store from card and board games to comics and collectibles. At this ripe old age, my interests lie mostly with the multitude of ridiculous card games that keep showing up and their wall has tons of them. The staff is also super friendly and they walked my friend through the process of setting up a good christmas gift for her young cousin. All in all it’s a good place, and it brings back a lot of fond memories of when I didn’t know what bills were and I paid for sh*t with mana…

I was new to Seattle and was looking for a place to play Magic: The Gathering so I decided to check this place out. I was warmly welcomed and treated very kindly. That was years ago and I am now a regular.
It’s four years later and I still love this place!

I grew up a comic geek and then when I was 18, paying bills for the first time, I couldn’t afford my storage space anymore and I lost hundreds and hundreds of silver age books that I see on the walls of comic shops for huge amounts of money… so comics and I have a precarious relationship.
Since it’s been nearly 20 years since I’ve been a serious collector and I constantly feel the need to have to prove that I’m still a comic geek at heart even though I have no idea what’s going on anymore and I exude more of a corporate douchebag thing now than my old rebel without a cause persona, I tend to feel defensive in comic stores with their «Holier than thou– you don’t know about Red Hulk??? Pfffft!» attitudes.
You don’t get that at Dreamstrands– the owner (at least I’m guessing he’s the owner), Gabe, is a really nice guy– he’s really helpful, he wants you to read what you want to read– he understands the weekend comic readers like me, even though the store is full of kids playing fantasy card games that I’ve never even heard of.
They have some great specials and perk programs, there’s always cool stuff on sale and if he doesn’t have it, he’ll get it for you– every time I walk in this place I think to myself that I have to go in more often– so I started a couple of subscriptions and that’s what I’m going to do… who knows, maybe I’ll be judging your taste in comics next time I stop in…

Dreamstrands is a nice little shop in Greenwood. The store’s a little crowded as they carry a lot of merchandise. (And it’s even more crowed when there’s gaming happening on the weekends.) But it’s well organized, and the staff is very friendly.
They offer a wider range of comic books by different publishers than most of the other stores in Seattle. They also have a kid’s section and a manga section. They have an excellent backstock which is easily accessible for browsing. They offer some nice in-​store discounts when they have sales. They also have a punch-​card for tradepaperbacks so you get a discount after buying so many.
My only disappointment is that their subscription service/​deal is not as generous to those customers that don’t subscribe to a lot of books. I understand they have to meet a bottom-​line, but it would be nice to see those with a smaller pull-​list encouraged to sign up. Also their website is terrible.

I have been a bad comics consumer and I haven’t been in for months and months. I’m on a forced austerity plan and there is too much temptation here, ok? The totally rad punchcard deals only make it worse!
I never had a «home» comic shop before I moved to the neighborhood, but by the second or third time I stopped in, Gabriel had my name, my books and my tastes totally down. Every time I come in they’ve got something awesome set aside for me. They probably have some lonely neglected issues sitting in sleeves with my name on them right now… I’m sorry Dreamstrands, I still love you! I’ll be back!

Came here based on the positive reviews on Unilocal.Like all the previous reviews say, the owner is friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Ended up spending $ 80 on a few books.

It’s a small store, but they don’t jack up the prices on back issues like some other places (I’m lookin’ at you, Golden Age).At any rate, they run sales pretty often. Also, the owner, Gabe is just about the best guy there is. He pays attention to what you read, and is always ready to give a suggestion. He’s also very patient with kids, which is a plus.
I actually got out of comics some months ago, but I just wanted to give this place it’s due.

I’ve been going to Dreamstrands for almost 5 years. The owner Gabe is incredibly patient & nice. His knowledge is fantastic. And not just for mainstream titles. But for an indy fan like myself, he reads it all. This is the perfect little neighborhood shop that everyone should experience.
It doesn’t matter if you spend $ 2 or $ 102 you get treated with the same respect. And They Have Awesome Toys!!!
Please, seek it out & experience great prices, good service, & fun times.

i like dreamstrands a lot. i dont know a lot about comics but they are a new fascination. i also have come in here to buy for a five year old i nanny and a nowformerboyfriend.
so i say assumably dumb things, i ask for «cool issues with jean grey», or kid comics with wolverine and without a lot of violence; requests that may be alltogether laughable in the graphic novel world. but the owner is always super nice and helpful, even if im just spending a few dollars and there is a kid running around his store with grubby fingers. and he always has awesome suggestions without being pushy about buying.
its a small store and easy to miss, but i would definitely recommend coming in and checking it all out.

Each time I’ve been in, I’m greeted with a warm greeting and it is made known if I need anything, just to ask. They have some great stuff in stock, for example the Mighty Muggs Scout Trooper figure (which is even the one pictured in my very avatar), while no other shops carrying these awesome figures had.
The staff also has no problems ordering you an issue or TPB (like Atomic Robo, which you need to read BTW). I’ll keep coming back here for sure. I’m glad it’s in the neighborhood.

This is my «home shop», I have a pull box there and I am quite happy with it. The owner, Gabriel, is super nice and as far as I can tell he pretty much reads everything so if you have a question you can always ask about something. He pays attention to your reading habits, favorite writers, artists, etc and will include books into your pull box that you may want to read as suggestions (but aren’t obligated to buy) and I appreciate that. It’s good upselling on his part of course… but for me, I really do appreciate that I may not always be aware of something that is out.
The rest of the staff is pretty small, I only ever really see 1 girl and 1 other guy who I haven’t seen in awhile, but they are also just as helpful. They don’t tend to bother you too much other than a friendly hello while you are browsing, but when you are ready to go or have that «I have a question» face, they are ready to assist.
The only negative thing that I could say is that if you really are going to be a regular customer, you better get that pull box set up because they do sell out of issues. I understand and sympathize with this in this economy, though, as it wouldn’t be the best business sense to order a ton of books and get stuck with them.
It does benefit you, though, as you get a discount for having a pull box based on how much you buy a month.

Not bad, but not out of this world as far as service or selection. They carry new books and have a good selection of back issues (that’s why they get four stars, they have back issues…)
The drawbacks are: If you are not a regular, you might get an ‘evil eye’
I did find a book or two that I have been looking for, so that was nice…
