Divine Spine Chiropractic Studio

I am so grateful to have found Dr. Derek Strachan and his Divine Spine team! I came in 9 months ago with constant headaches, fatigue, neck, and back pain. Before I knew it, I was feeling like my old self again! I am now pregnant and get chiropractic care to keep me strong and healthy through all the changes that are happening to my body– he even helps relieve my round ligament pain! Recently I was in an accident and the first caregiver I thought to see was Dr. Strachan. His high tech testing equipment, thorough assessment, and warm and caring demeanor all helped me feel I was safe and in good hands. I am also a massage therapist and refer my clients to him all the time– I love my clients and would only refer them to someone I completely trust; I know they will have a great experience. If you’ve been looking for a great chiropractor, look no further.

I highly recommend Jacob Caldwell for massage. I’ve seen him off and on over the past many years at Divine Spine. I’ve recently seen him more regularly due to an injury from a car accident. He’s helped me a lot with my pain. He’s also knowledgable about the body and gives me helpful tips about things I can do in between treatments to help myself. I appreciate his calming energy. He’s kind and very professional. I always feel comfortable around him. I’d go out of my way to get a massage from Jacob and you should too.

They are thieves here! Dr. Derek will charge you for physical therapy for using his wobble chair for 3 minutes. It’s ridiculous. They really try to get the most pay out of your insurance and when I called 5 TIMES regarding a charge they shouldn’t have charged, they never called me back. THIEVES!!!
The only great person out of this place is Jacob the massage therapist. He’s awesome but unfortunately I will not be going back to Jacob because I don’t want to step foot in this place.

I have worked with Dr Derek on and off for a couple of years now. I have extensive experience as a consumer of chiropractic care. I like the way that Derek adjusts. His neck adjustments are slow, methodical, and calm. Even though I have have many chiropractic sessions over the years, I can still tense up for the neck adjustments, but Dr Derek’s calm technique helps me relax into it.

I saw Dr. Derek for about four years, before moving out of Seattle. I had been dealing with significant issues and was glad my insurance covered the full program. Over several months all of the issues I’d been dealing with melted away and I became increasingly more flexible and fluid. After that, I saw him as-​needed. At times it would be months. During ski season, when I can get myself pretty bashed up, I saw him more frequently. Even when I was in Seattle it was an inconvenient drive to get to him, but well worth it. Dr. Derek and his staff (I don’t know Grace) have always been incredibly professional and caring.

I want to affirm all the negative reviews, to date. I got a statement 6 months after I stopped treating. Seems they got a new (or first) billing person and decided to go back through all the files and dig up whatever money they could. I was even CONFIRMED, not quoted, a final balance and payed it at the time i stopped treatment. When I called/​emailed about this, they wouldn’t answer any of my questions, but kept telling me charges are still being processed. The next month, I got another bill with more charges. This was in October. The charges were from May. And, I was on a «payment plan.»
I EVEN payed any extra monies to make up for early termination of the payment agreement (back in April). I never once received a billing statement when treating and got my first one 6 months later? Does Dr. Derek even know this is happening?
I understand that what patients pay and what insurance companies pay are usually adjusted (different). But, this is not the case at Divine. I complained several times. Sent all the emails CONFIRMING, not quoting, as they liked to tell me, my final balance paid in full. I asked questions. Pointed out obvious deficiencies in the accounting, (did i mention I spend my work days analyzing medical bills?), and asked my emails be forwarded to the Dr. I have never seen such blatant fraud. I brought 4 people to this practice. They don’t go anymore. Fool me once???
P. s. Grace is awesome but doesn’t work there anymore.

Today was my 4-​month anniversary re-​evaluation and I can’t believe the difference in my flexibility, reduction in the pain in my mid-​back and neck, and how much I’ve been able to improve my posture because of those two aforementioned things. I have never been to a chiropractor before, not that I was skeptical (OK, YES I WAS), but had always sought other means for treatment (who doesn’t like vicodin?). Then I got fed up with how my extended desk work just took way too big of a toll on my body with awful posture, hours on end in a crappy chair, etc. etc. I’ve had traumatic injuries (the kind that happen suddenly, like car crashes and getting hit by a car on my bike) but none of them ever resulted in as nagging a pain as what years of un-​ergonomic desk work has created. Anyway, I’m not a touchy-​feely new-​age healing type of person, I’m a mathematician for crying out loud, but I have to say I’m very pleasantly surprised by my progress, and enthusiastic about further improvement.
As for PAYMENTS, they called my insurance, worked up how much the suggested treatment plan would cost if I used my insurance (which entails a $ 1500 deductible plus a 15 visit per year max), and also calculated using their cash prices. Not surprisingly, based on my past experience with my insurance, their cash prices come out to be about half what I would pay out of pocket if I used my insurance.

FRAUD!!! BEWARE!!! NEVER EVER GO HERE. Go to a real chiropractor that cares about his patients more than his pocket book. He wiped out my fiances entire HRA account in less than three weeks for services that hadn’t even been rendered yet. Now today, after having not gone there since APRIL, I received a bill for nearly $ 1600 which encompassed a month worth of adjustments I NEVER attended as well as services they’re claiming my insurance didn’t cover, and yet I didn’t hear a word of this until four months after the fact? I’ll be filling several fraud claims against Derek and his shady practice. I’ve met several of his ex customers in the Ballard area who are claiming the very same things happened to them.
DON’T GO HERE. I stopped going because I was furious about what he had done to my fiancé, and I was sick of being pressured into buying into his seminars and extra classes at every adjustment, I wasn’t looking for a life coach, I was just looking for a chiropractor with morals, Derek isn’t one of them.

Met them today in the streets for seafood festival of Ballard! Nice crowd and signed the bf up for spinal checks, X-​rays and whatever else came along with the package for $ 20. We are excited for the future results of Devine spine chiropractic!

Dr. Derek is great, providing great chiropractic and general wellness care. He has been great about helping Me stay healthy over the last year. Jacob, one of the massage therapist is amazing. He has been giving me great advice as I have been battling a knee injury, and he is helping me avoid unnecessary surgery. Thank you for everything.

I went to see Dr. Derek when my back was acting up after some workouts and came away totally impressed. My previous experience with a different chiropractor was poor, but Dr. Derek and his staff made everything easy and pleasant. I would highly recommend Dr. Derek and his team for any chiropractic or wellness work that you need done!

My almost 4 year old son and I go here for our chiropractic needs. Dr. Derek and his staff are so caring and I always feel sooooo much better after I leave his incredibly comfortable studio. My son looks forward to his visits there as well. You won’t be disappointed by Dr. Derek — I feel that he gives comprehensive treatment, not just a run-​of-​the-​mill quick adjustment. He really does care about you and your family.

Dr. Derek totally rocks. His space is gorgeous and his staff are very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. My previous experience with chiropractic was not that awesome. I had a hard time relaxing for the adjustments in the past… but Dr. Derek was very calming, super gentle yet super effective. After just one adjustment I feel great and I will definitely be back!

Dr. Derek is one of a kind he is very attentive to all his patient and is very concern with all of your overall health than just your spine. He is a person that you want on your health team. I am fairly picky about my chiropractic treatment. I just went in today for my first appointment. It is a fabulous space, very calm and relaxing. Grace is wonderful and extremely helpful.
Dr Strachan is great. He explains everything, asks lots of questions in order to know how to best treat you to fit your lifestyle, and makes you feel at ease. I will be back, for sure. My pain has already decreased after one visit, so I know how great I will be feeling after the next few visits.

TOTALLY worth checking out. Dr. Derek is down to earth, extremely warm and friendly and knows a great deal about the body. I have seen an overall improvement in how my nervous system functions and have noticed an immediate difference in how the alignment of my body felt after my treatments. The studio, itself, is an amazing and healing environment. I have also heard a number of testimonials from his other clients and sounds like there have been a few miracles in the office!

Dr. Derek Strachan of Divine Spine Chiropractic is divine. Yes, sounds a little cheesy but there is nothing cheesy about him or his studio. His chiropractic studio is located on the third floor of the Old Ballard Firehouse. It is warm and inviting. Dr. Derek is very passionate about his practice and clients and helps them understand their bodies and how to capitalize on their innate healing capacities. If you are interested in staying healthy or improving your health, Dr. Derek will be a great choice.

I have been treated by Dr. Derek on and off for three years now. His work has made a remarkable impact on my physical health. I have so much more mobility in my spine and neck. I also have come to understand my body better. So now I can feel when I’m out of alignment. Dr. Derek and his staff are very attentive and thorough.
