Dillon Nugent

Dillon is a miracle worker, plain and simple.
If you’re reading this after summer 2008, understand that this is a time when no houses or other properties are selling. My wife and I joke that only ‘biological or legally necessary’ houses are being sold these days, meaning that no one is listing unless they’re either dying, foreclosing, divorcing, or something similar, specifically because NOTHING is selling. That said, Dillon pulled a rabbit out of a hat for me, and, now after the transaction is closed, I’m still pinching myself to figure out whether my life is this good.
I hired Dillon Nugent to list a vacant lot I was selling, based on a recommendation from one of his colleagues. Things started rough, we went a month or two without a single good lead and I’ll admit I put a lot of pressure on him to start making things happen. I was pleasantly astonished when he reported that he had an interested party he was courting, and the ‘pinch me’ moment started when the buyer submitted an offer over our asking price.
In the end, everything was handled smoothly and professionally. Until now, I can say without wincing that I’ve never been happy with an agent. All my other transactions were either effortlessly simple to manage or sloppy, and I’ve paid exorbitant amounts of money on commissions regardless of my satisfaction with the service. Dillon shepherded my sale with my interests, both financial and legal, as the highest priority. To be honest, I was hoping to just make a sale and didn’t care whether I made or lost money. Thanks to Dillon, I sold the property at a profit and I’m totally free and clear of any debt or liability on the property.
When I was talking to agents before I found Dillon, the tendency was to price my property as low as possible. I bought high, I’ll admit, and the 10% I owed in fees put me in a bad spot. A few of the agents I talked to had a dozen or more listings in their hoppers, and their aggressive coercion to list below my break-​even point was evident. Low price == easy money for agents, since they get your 3% whether or not you sell at a personal loss and whether your property takes 2 days or 2 years to move. Some of the agents I spoke with were the highest recommendation from the corporate hq of their respective agencies, and none would have given me the attention I got from Dillon.
More than the aforementioned magic, it’s safe to say that Dillon rose to the occasion and put the work in to secure a buyer and drive the transaction to close. He’s not the sleep-​until-​10 agent. When he exhausted a source, like when he targeted Seattle’s community of builders or architects, he came up with novel ideas like lurking in a dream-​home-​building seminar and making contacts in the Q&A portion of the meeting. Genius! And when he found the buyer and secured the offer, he carefully balanced an aggressive protection of my interests with business etiquette suitable to not ‘scare off’ the prospective client. He refused to succumb to the ‘buyer-​driven market’ and made me a profit in this terrible climate.
Bottom line: In a city where any slacker or dim bulb can make a 6-​figure salary as a real estate agent, Dillon is head and shoulders above the cohort. If you want someone to list your house and have some blockhead show it, ignore my advice. If you want someone to sell your house in the non-​passive sense, talk to Dillon. I hope I never have to sell again, but, if I do, it’ll be through him.
