My friend had referred this place as a NW in n out. hmmm… bold statement but lets investigate Pros: –this place is open late(2am) unheard of for a place in this area. –they start their employees at $ 13 wow talk about an amazing first time job –FRIES. My goodness their fries are addicting!!! One of the best fries i’ve had! –very affordable, hamburgers at $ 1.70 to deluxe at $ 3 Cons: –Anything besides a deluxe sucks. The special has too much lettuce and no cheese, hamburger is pretty dull Overall: I’m impressed! It’s no in n out but i think it’s still very good

Love this place. It’s nice to have at least one Seattle staple north of the U!

Can’t give this place anything but a 5! A Seattle institution that is simply the best when it comes to a burger and fries.(similar to Ripples in Provo UT) they have a very simple menu — a deluxe burger, the special, the cheeseburger and the plain burger. Fries and condiments of onions — ketchup or tarter. Coke, root beer or Sprite — vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream or shakes.(old fashioned) these burgers are not fancy and the fries are soggy. But they sure taste great with the tarter. My father would come here in the 50’s and they just recently celebrated their 60th anniversary in all the same locations. They must be doing something right. They even give free burgers to graduates in June if you go there with your cap and gown! Kinda cool. Great food– great service, great memories and all for under 5 $. They close around 2 am, so if you need a little grease in your stomach after a fun night out, this is your place.

I’m from California. Home of In N Out. I was told that Dicks was SO much better… that I HAD to try it now that I live here. So I tried it. It had big hype. Well I tried it, twice, and both times it was gross. Nothing is fresh. That’s why the service is so fast. Nothing is made to order, nor can you add or remove stuff from the burger you order. No fresh lettuce and tomato. No fresh grilled onions. No animal fries? Who knows how long the burgers have been sitting on the counter waiting for someone to buy it? I don’t know. Not to mention the«special sauce» looks like snot! The fries were decent and the shake was ok. Still, nothing compares to In N Out. NOTHING! :))

Excellent burgers, fries and shakes for a very reasonable price. This place is cash only, but they do have an atm if you only have plastic.

I love Dick’s! I always go to this one or the one on Broadway. I eat Dick’s every day when I visit WA state. Those burgers are addictive. Shakes are kinda pricey but very good too. Cash only is annoying(minus one star) but not a deal breaker.

Visited this place w/friends. Didn’t realize they had a special sauce on their burger(tarter sauce I guess?) Wasn’t terrible but different. I ate my food. Loved the fries, and the customer service was great but the biggest downside was my stomach was killing me after we left, I had gas all night and was nauseous. I’m not dining there again. Sorry :(I wish I had a better experience with the food because the people working there did seem nice and it didn’t taste terrible either.

The people working the cash registers are not always the most friendly, but the food never disappoints. Everything here is under $ 5.00, and it’s all good. There’s no option to customize your burger, so it’s always ready pretty quickly. They only accept cash but there is an ATM on the side of their building. They’re in a great location and are open until 2:00AM. If you want a side for your fries, ketchup or tartar sauce, I would suggest getting more than just one. The servings are pretty small when it comes to condiments.

A Northwest staple! Dick’s had been feeding the grassy neighborhoods of Seattle for decades and they do it very well. They have a limited menu that stays absolutely consistent no matter what stand you are at. Make sure you bring cash with you because they don’t accept check or plastic but it will be with your time to stop at the ATM. Hamburger, cheeseburger, Dick’s Deluxe or a special. Fries and soda or milkshake. That concludes the menu. My one and only complaint is that they make you purchase condiments and the serving size is small. I wish they would join the modern century and give a little sauce away but other than that, this joint is still as good as it was the day it opened. They treat their employees very well with great wages and benefits and they are active I their communities. Dick’s is an all around great place.

Great Burgers & Fries & Drinks — That’s It, But Great If That’s All You Want SITREP Nope. Sorry. A group of Dick’s staff are not going to swarm your car and sing you«Happy Birthday». Nor are you going to find Filet Mignon here. But you ARE going to get a great burger and fries on the cheap. THESETUP Dick’s is a pretty low-key, square structure in the middle of a parking lot. Cars park around it and on the edge of the lot under shade trees on a hot day. You walk up to the counter and order your stuff. It’s a pretty simple menu, so that cuts down on the wasted time of having to read some novel-menus that take my aunts about half an hour to do(yes, I’m looking at YOU, Cheesecake Factory with your gaddam 75 page menu). LEMENU * Sodas * Milkshakes * Fries * Hamburgers * Cheeseburgers; and, * Deluxe Burgers(ok, I admit, they’re goin! CraZy! on this one) W00t! There are also x-tra condiment charges for a nickel. For the 3 of us, getting 3 burgers, fries and sodas, a «whopping» $ 15. That was awesome! THELOWDOWN It doesn’t get much better than this for a great burger & fries experience, averaging $ 5-$ 6 per person.

Fast, fresh, efficient, and delicious. Perfect for soaking up that liquor after a night of drinking. The fries can be soggy, so two Dick’s Deluxe are the way to go.

I was visiting from Florida and my friends in Seattle told me «they must take me here» I’m glad they did! It’s a little burger joint that is cheaper than McDonald’s and so much better. Under 5 bucks I got two burgers and French fries … and that had to be the best dang burger I have had(and this was before I started drinking) the only downfall is the long line, but well worth the wait. Oh and the people that go there are a sight to see while waiting. Hahaha

I can’t say I’m a fan of this place, but I do appreciate the novelty of mid 1900 style fast food. Everything seems old fashion such as the menu, architect, employee uniforms, and small burgers. I bet if I travelled back in time, almost everything but the price would be the same. I ordered the deluxe burger. It was very simple and yet tasted different from a McDonald’s burger. In comparison, it had a bit sweeter taste with the sauce they put in. It wasn’t bad. I ate two of them because of the appetite I worked up earlier. The French fries were not so good. Portion was tiny and most fries were limp due to the amount of grease. I was warned beforehand of these fries, but I’m glad I tried. Overall I’m glad I tried this place. Our tour guide even recommended it to us because it was a «Seattle» thing to do. I guess I can see that though — there were a bunch of young higher schooler /fresh man college students there that night. Why not right? It’s cheap, super fast, and fills up your grease quota for the week. TIP: Bring cash! Cash only.

I love the fact that I don’t have to pay for someone else’s ketchup! I also love that I don’t have to wait for some idiot ordering a custom burger. Keep that line moving! The staff are well trained, hard working, fairly compensated, and speak English very well. Even the minorities. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because there’s a 50⁄50 chance I’ll get soggy French fries. They need to work harder on putting out quality fries consistently. I have noticed they’re much better about driving away the bums and hippies than they used to be.

If you are ever in Seattle you have to come and try Dicks. Not cuz it’s delicious or it’s amazing but just cuz it’s one of the thing you have to do while in Seattle :) The food is ok, I find sometimes greasy but the shakes are delicious! The prices are cheap, and the food is fresh. It’s like a lesser version of in and out, without the animal fries. This place always has huge lines late at night, it’s a place to come after night out or when you get the late night munchies for some greasy good food! Do as the Seattlites do and go to Dicks

Seattle landmark, delicious late nite bite. Dicks is a treat for me as I’m usually trying not to stuff my face with fries, but when it’s 2am and you’re feeling lonely sometimes the love you find in the orange burger wrapper is what you need. I’m a fan of the regular cheeseburger, and also the delux! I love their fries — and also love them with the tartar sauce. Milkshakes are on point. This is your greasy spoon drop in and dine kind of place. Also, a member of my family has a summer job there and they treat their employees very well! Great benefits, pay, and management. Go Dicks!

Always reliable. Always full of greasy yummy goodness. Seriously cannot go wrong if you have a late night burger craving. Simple menu and definitely a well deserved Seattle landmark. This is my preferred location. The one on 45th is way too crazy busy. The one on Broadway just attracts a lot of riffraff. This one is clean and busy but not overwhelming so. Whenever I decide to cheat on my diet, once every few months, this is a great place to do so.

Dick’s is a delicious Seattle staple, and I don’t care what Californian haters have to say. It’s cheap, yummy, and quick. Sure, you can’t customize your burger, but that’s what allows the quickness. Nothing will satisfy my burger craving like a Deluxe and some fries. This Lake City location in particular has very friendly staff and almost never has a line. Win-win in my book!

dick’s probably has one of the cheapest prices for burgers at a fast food joint. but with that said, the food is just meh. the burger patty is thin and the size is pretty tiny. and the fries aren’t good at all. it’s soggy and greasy… i couldn’t finish it. plus they charge for condiments. 10 cents for ketchup. not a big deal tho. cash only they’re open late, so it’s a great place to stop by when everywhere else is closed and you’re hungry.

Dicks is not a five star meal by any means. It is not luxury food, it is fast food. Being fast food, this earns a 5 star rating. The prices are on par with national chains but you are supporting a local company that works hard to support the community and their employees. Knowing that they provide medical, time off and educational reimbursement to their staff is huge. The Dicks Deluxe is 2 thin patties of meat with toppings and cheese. This is a filling burger that works for lunch or a snack. The milkshakes here do not disappoint and are a fairly good value. Areas that I wish Dicks would change is their soda is very overpriced. $ 1.60 or so gets you a soda that is about the size of a small at other chains with no refills. I personally do not like their fries, they are way to greasy for me, but I know several people rave about them.
