Had a spoke break and needed to get in and out after work — Craig had the right size materials on hand and had me on the road within a half hour. He noticed a few other things that were slightly off with my bike as well, and explained them in detail to me as he worked on them. Due to this experience I’m considering taking some of the one on one bike maintenance lessons they offer. Even better, my bike is in perfect working condition again

I finally gave in and signed my son up for private bike riding lessons(just two)…as we were eager to get him to learn in time for Summer but had such limited time after school and on the weekends for consistent training. I searched the Web for bike riding lessons and Cycle U came up. I hadn’t heard of them before and knew nothing about them. They have a location in West Seattle and Sandpoint and can meet you either in West Seattle or Magnuson Park for lessons. I called and spoke in depth with Lizzy to inquire about the lessons, the format, etc; she reassured me that with their private lessons(just two), my son would learn how to ride a bike. I decided to go for it and sign my son up. And to my amazement, he learned how to ride a bike on the second day. The way it worked was Lizzy had her first lesson with my son on a Tuesday(just a 30 min lesson). Then I took my son out on Wed/Thurs/Fri for 20 – 30 minutes to reinforce what he had learned from Lizzy.(Lizzy just requests that you take your child out one time in between her lessons; but we wanted to practice every day.) Then on Saturday, my son reconnected with Lizzy and had his second private lesson, this time 1 hour. About 35 or 40 minutes into his second lesson, he started riding his bike confidently! It was a very exciting and proud moment. Through the whole process, Lizzy was a very pleasant to work with and she is great with kids. My son really enjoyed his lessons, felt no pressure at all and was ecstatic about his quick accomplishment. So in total, we paid $ 120 to learn to ride a bike. Now we just need to practice our braking and riding in a straight line before we hit the trails as a family, soon! I highly recommend Lizzy at Cycle U if you are looking for lessons with fast results!

Great staff who are willing to take the time to help. Had a flat, so I walked in and they fixed me up and provided some tips on how to repair a flat.

I should actually give them no stars. I’m a bicycle advocate and I drive past this place every day. I walked in today just to look around to see what they have to offer and very cool and unique shop but I just could not believe the attitude I got from the employees. All I asked was do you do tune ups and how much do they cost? Not a peep from either one of them and they are staring right at me so I know they can hear me. I asked again and in a very tired and mopey attitude«its 85 and hour» I could not stop laughing at these people. Sure they probably get regular members in there but change your attitude CYCLEUNIVERSITY! I would not recommend this place for a tune up!

I’ve literally never ridden a road bike before last week(cruisers/kids’ bikes only) and signed up for the 8-week ICE course as part of rehab after knee surgery. Jessica, who taught the 6:30 pm Tuesday class, was great! She had to explain everything to me in terms that a bonafide newb would understand and it totally made sense. Jessica also kept motivation high during class! Loved it.

I went for a simple bike tune up. My bike was ready 3-weeks later, which felt a little long. Limited business hours, boo. Nice staff, thumbs up.

These guys are awesome. I’ve been a happy customer for a little more than a year. Prior to that I had no bicycling experience. Let me share my story. My girlfriend has always been an avid cyclist. She bought her GT carbon bike at REI but it wasn’t fitted correctly. She heard about Cycle U – attended a hill climbing boot-camp series, where the instructor notices that her bike wasn’t properly fitted. After she went through the fitting session, the bike had been wonderful. To her, Cycle U is part of a business/personal relationship. Last February(2011) I was in the market for a bike. After checking out some local area dealers, she told me that I must check out Cycle U. And the rest was history. I promptly bought a 2010 Specialized Roubaix(on discount since it was the 2010 model) and it had been one of the better athletic investments I’ve made. Since then(1+ year so far) I’ve gone back for some tune ups and in-cycle sessions. Also recently registered for the hill climbing boot-camp. These guys have been awesome and very friendly. I’m writing this review for both of their locations, since I’ve obtained services at both locations. I did my bike fitting with Craig at the Sandpoint location and in-cycle session at both locations.

I had heard good things about this place and decided to get a recommendation from the folks there about a bike purchase. They not only found me the right bike, they sized it, custom fitted it and had it ready the same day. I can’t say enough about how easy the whole process was and how nice the staff was. I hope to use the facility more as I get into riding this new bike.

CycleU is amazing! Craig(owner) in just two short sessions taught our seven year old son to ride a bike with a ton of confidence! Something that my husband and I had not had much success with. We couldn’t have been happier and the smile on our son’s face was priceless! Thank you, thank you!

Cycle U is fantastic! Last summer I rented a bike from them for a local sprint triathlon. They hooked me up with a great bike and I shaved almost 10 minutes off my bike time from the year before. The staff is super friendly and always eager to help. I’m so glad Cycle U is in my backyard. If you are looking for a new bike or just need some lessons, this is the place to go!

Nifty little bike shop/gym! Got a groupon, so went out to explore and see if I could snag a new bike seat. Went in and was surprised with how small the equipment shop was. However, I was really impressed with the training gym and services they provide. Once I found my new seat the mechanic installed it for me, and then helped me make sure it was fit properly to me. I head him talk with another customer who needed some consultation work with his bike’s fit, and it sounded like they could help with a lot of different services. Wasn’t super impressed with the variety of stuff, but I am really excited to go back and maybe train or get my bike serviced there!

These folks are fantastic. They lent me, free of charge, a pair of pedals when I realized that my clips and pedals did not match for Bike to Work day. They were friendly, courteous, installed the replacement pedals for me, and gave me a couple of days to return them. This type of customer service is outstanding. I highly recommend them… they are neighbors that we should support.
