I came to CS Finnegans for a «free pour» from Guinness. Two free pints and a free pint glass? Cha-ching! The event was a promotion from Guinness and my friends and I enjoyed this opportunity to check out Belltown’s new Irish pub. The joint was comfortable though a bit loud(especially after the Sounders game started). They’ve got food service and their menu seems to be a combination of American and Irish pub food. I’d certainly come back here, especially if I lived or worked in the neighborhood.

It’s Celtic Swell but without the ambiance of Alki. Its overpriced beer and food, nothing special. It’s a fairly fake Irish Pub. I’m sure its bumpin at night in belltown, but definitely without me! I don’t hate it, just not a fan.

I headed out to meet some friends for happy hour at Finnegans. It was my first time here, and i’m pleased to say I had a great time. It’s the same owner as the Celtic Swell on Alki(My favorite Seattle beach hangout:)). Comfortable bar, great conversation with the bartender, and good food. I will return.

Stopped in with a friend to check this new place out. Bartender was enthusiastic without being spaztic. The Harp was cold and the Jameson’s kept a-comin’. A great addition to the neighborhood, though the atmosphere is a tad sterile. I will return to check out the food.

We ducked in here while waiting for a table to open up next door at Black Bottle. Nice space… high ceilings, open atmosphere. There were a few tables open, so we grabbed one in the front. We just wanted drinks to hold us over for dinner. But, looking at the menu we saw a lot of great food options. We decided to share an order of fried pickles… and they were really good. Great tempura batter on the outside, spicy kick on the inside. They came with a spicy mayo dipping sauce that was also very good. Nice selection of local beers and wines. My girlfriend and I had a Snoqualmie Vineyards Riesling… excellent wine! Very friendly waitress. We will definitely be back to try more from their food menu.

Wow, sorry to hear about the previous review about the bad doormen… That’s certainly not indicative how how the other Celtic Swell in Seattle is run. Hopefully it was just 1st night issues? Anyhow, I was pretty excited to stumble across this place today, next door to what was one of my other favorite Belltown establishments, Black Bottle(favorite, that is, before they stopped serving lunch…). I’m a big fan of the Alki location and had been missing it terribly whenever the cold, cold winds would be blowing and I fancied a Guinness and some hot Irish stew. As I stepped into the establishment today, I noticed that they’d put quite a bit of work into the place and it really was looking pretty nice, though a bit airy for an Irish style pub. The faint smell of freshly sanded wood still permeated the place as we sat down and ordered the drink special(hot toddy) and I got the Irish Stew. The waitstaff were all friendly and seemed genuinely interested about whether we were being taken care of. The drink was great but the stew was only so-so. I’m used to really grand Irish fare from other places I’ve gone so I was hoping the stew would be thick with chunks of meat and veg but, alas, it was not to be. While it was thick, it was due to the highly flour-thickened«broth»(gravy?) and the meat and veg were rather sparse in attendance. I think I counted maybe 4 or 5 pieces of lamb, 2 – 3 pieces of potato, and a carrot all in a bowl the size of a standard dinner plate. The taste was good, but it definitely left me wanting more. …Especially at $ 13 a plate. Again, chalking this up to opening week issues but I’ll visit again and hope to see things settle in. Good luck CS Finnegan’s!

Awesome addition to the neighborhood. They have a few small kinks to work out, but they’ve only been open 4 days! It’s nice to see friendly people with businesses worth supporting coming back to Belltown.

This is a copy of the bar in West Seattle. Sadly neither the original nor this place are either bit good. Both the service and food here are lacking. I ordered a Guinness upon entering. The bartender took forever to give it to me. I reminded him and he looked and saw it was poured. He blamed he as he «couldn’t find me», but then I had never moved from my perch at the bar. $ 8 Guinness on their grand opening? Seriously? It didn’t even come in a glass pint. The food looked pathetic. An irish bar? Sure, it featured such Irish favorites as natchos, curry, bacon mushroom swiss burger, spicy salmon burger and baked halibut. I guess next week they’ll feature shots of amaretto as Irish. Sorry excuse for either a pub or a restaurant. The owners really don’t care. They weren’t there. Pathetic excuse for an establishment. Yet another example of a business just opening in Belltown and expecting success purely based on location. There are plenty of great places to buy food/drinks in Belltown. This isn’t one of them.
