As an interior designer, working with responsible, attentive, clean, skilled contractors is vital to my business. Cobalt Construction is one of my preferred general contractors for their value, quality of service, and their ability to create a clean and safe environment for the families living through the renovation.
Brian and his team are attentive to details to ensure the designs are executed as planned, on time, and within budget.

We hired Cobalt Construction to create a bid for us for several projects that needed to be completed for a home we just purchased. They were able to deliver a timely and competitive bid. Plan to use them for projects that we choose not to take care of ourselves.

Asked for a quote but never heard back — moving on.

Brian and his team are amazing. Not only do they do great work, but they are GREAT to work with. I have used them for two jobs: one a major bathroom remodel, tearing it down to the studs and putting in new plumbing, heated floors, and total remodel. Second job was installing a header in my attic to be able to hang some heavy glass doors in my kitchen. Brian and his team are so darn personable and nice and easy to work with. My jobs aren’t huge, but they put just as much energy and care into my jobs and I have always felt like highest priority when they are working on my house. Brian always come up with great ideas that make the job much better (like installing an electrical outlet under the vanity for hair dryer) that I hadn’t thought about and all he cares about is making sure you are happy and satisfied. I refuse to use anyone else!

We love our remodeled kitchen! This review is about a year overdue – sorry, guys. They completely demolished our ‘80s kitchen and then re-​built it with new cabinets, appliances, lighting and backsplash. Throughout the whole process, Brian was excellent at staying in touch with us and answering questions as they came up. He kept everything on a tight timeline and got things done right. Rob did much of the installation work – great guy and really nice work!

Brian and his crew suit up and show up. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them to anyone looking for a solid pro and crew to complete a major remodel.

Friends told me I was crazy to leave on vacation for a month while Cobalt replaced my cabinets, countertops and sink. But talking with Brian gave me confidence that he would do a good job, and when I returned, everything was completed as planned. I highly recommend Cobalt for their professional work and reasonable prices.

I have been lucky enough to have had Brian and his crew complete two separate projects for me one inside and one outside. Not only were his estimates accurate and his workmen friendly and professional, but the work was excellent and completed on time. I cannot recommend them highly enough. However because they are so awesome I recommended that you get on their calendar early. So far they have completed two closet remodels, replaced all of my sliding glass doors, and completely rebuilt the most amazing deck you have ever seen. Really just a great group of guys who will listen to you and complete your project to perfection.

Call was promptly returned. Cobalt was not able to work with me on my siding project, but gave a referral, which I highly appreciate.

Update: Love Cobalt Construction even more. Brian and the team helped us with a basement remodel that was quite involved and front sidewalk replacement. We were moving and readying the house to rent. We knew we would be moving out of state before the project completed, yet had every confidence that our house was in great hands. As a plus, we just really like Brian and everyone on his team. We’re going to miss seeing them, and will continue to use Cobalt for any future house repairs.

We hired Cobalt Construction to help remodel our master and guest bathrooms. Brian and his team did an AMAZING job on the project… we’re very happy with how our bathrooms turned out! Brian supervised and managed the progress of the project very thoroughly. His crew was very professional and knowledgeable… especially Rob! He worked extra hours to keep our project on track and went above and beyond to get the job done. Outstanding quality of work… we would definitely recommend Cobalt if you’re looking for a good contractor!

We just finished a project with Brian, and could not be happier. We own a 1921 craftsman with an unfinished basement. We had Brian do a full basement remodel, transforming my old and dark unfinished basement into a beautiful, well lit and new rec room, bedroom and laundry room.
Brian was great from the beginning. He gave me a written bid with all details spec out, and always discussed any possible add-​ons before they happened.
Cobalt was not inexpensive, but why would you want a cheap contractor? I like to say the price was fair and I definitely got the basement I wanted.
Brian made good suggestions along the way, and now we get a lot more useful space out of our home. It doesn’t even feel like a basement anymore, it feels like part of the house.
Brian only uses subcontractors that he knows– all of his crew and subs were outstanding and very polite and knowledgeable.
I would not waste your time calling someone else, and I will definitely use Brian and Cobalt in the future again.

It’s hard to find a good contractor on Unilocal.We found Cobalt Construction on Angie’s List and swore we’d post here if they were as great as they sounded. They are! Or I guess I should say «He is!» because the company is owned by a guy named Brian and he handles every project personally. It was such a relief to find a contractor who is so up front, so clear and professional, and incredibly capable. We basically had him remove the entire back porch of our 1910 craftsman and rebuild it from the ground up to include a full bathroom and laundry nook. The project just wrapped last week and it is exactly what we hoped for! Brian totally got my vision. It flows seamlessly from the rest of the house and people have commented that you can’t tell it’s an addition. Mission accomplished!
I should also mention that I am a SAHM with two young children, and was so pleased with the crew and subcontractors Brian sent to my home. These people had to work while we were there, and every single worker that came through was extremely polite and professional. My son idolizes Rob, Brian’s right hand man, and I’m pretty sure we’re going to have to create projects just to get him back over for a visit.
Oh right, and the money. Cobalt Construction wasn’t the lowest bid we got, but we went with them because of the quality of work we saw on their website and the glowing reviews we read on Angie’s list. We are extremely satisfied with the work done and are very thankful we chose Brian. Happy customer!

Engaged Cobalt for the first time on a small project in our 1929 home involving framing out and installing a door in our utility room /​bathroom (no privacy in a bathroom isn’t a great thing) as well as replacing the door to the garage. Brian responded to my email quickly, came out and asked the right questions and had a few helpful suggestions (e.g., widen doors and increase height, to allow for easier appliance moves). Brian had another employee do most of the actual work, but was very involved, visiting several times and do some work himself. I’m quite satisfied with the end product.
Can’t provide any insight on how competitive their prices are, but to do all the work to cut the existing walls down, frame the doors, drywall, and install the doors including priming /​painting, plus all parts /​materials (minus doorknobs, which I provided) was to be $ 2,337.82.

Finding a great contractor is hard, and once I realized I needed professional help I started procrastinating my project (getting load bearing walls removed around my horrible galley kitchen). I asked everyone I knew and only heard horror stories about their contractors… I had already removed the drywall, but I got frustrated in not being able to find anyone I liked to do the real work. So I gave up and lived with exposed electrical and 2x4s surrounding my kitchen for 11 months. No joke!
Finally, I found Brian and Cobalt Construction through Unilocal.All the great reviews made me suspicious at first (I’m just a skeptic). Too good to be true? I know now that it’s not! Brian and his team are fantastic, they’re great at what they do, professional, and really good guys. Everything was always explained to me in detail, so I knew what to expect when they were working. And Brian was full of good suggestions, things I wouldn’t have thought of, like adding 2x4s to the wall horizontally where my cabinets attach.
I didn’t do much in the way of price comparisons, so they may not be the cheapest solution. But I doubt they’re the most expensive either. If you’re looking for someone who does the job right that you’ll enjoy working with, Cobalt Construction is definitely the way to go. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them again for another project, and in fact I’ve got a few other things on my list :)

Brian and the Cobalt team are just wonderful. My husband and I have had a string of really bad contractors, plumbers and landscapers fix up our starter home. This January a plumber came in and undermined our foundation and our fence died the same week. Luckily we found Brian! Cobalt was great, Brian answered all my questions, gave me great advice and had a super detailed proposal. He didn’t treat us like a lesser priority because our job was on the smaller side and was willing to address the smaller projects around the house in addition to the fence and foundation. I am attached to my garden and Brian didn’t even get irritated with me as I worried about my plants’ well being. Most importantly, he didn’t go a penny over budget and the work is quality craftsmanship. His team is great too, really friendly and helpful. In short, I can’t stop raving and will always hire Cobalt Construction from now on.

I wouldn’t waste a second recommending any other contractor than Brian with Cobalt Construction. On top of being an incredible professional himself, he works with a great group of guys and the rapport that they share make them an awesome team.
Brian is reliable, trustworthy, and a super nice guy. He’s respectful of your space, and leaves the site as clean as he found it. I’d have him back to our place in a second.

In building or remodeling it’s the details that count. Cobalt construction does the details right. I’m in homes all the time were I’m having to straighten walls and put on cover plates for plumbing. When I’m on a Cobalt Construction job I notice that cover plates are notched out (by the way no one does that. that’s like crazy detailed) so there are no lumps in a new wall that just went up. WOW!
Brian is a clear communicator and keeps on schedule. That is the most important thing to sub contractors like me. Thanks Cobalt.
