I am surprised this place doesn’t get more outside business. Located in the 5th Avenue lobby of the old Bank of California building, they don’t have the exposure they need; most of their very happy clientele comes from the building itself. The atmosphere is quiet and restful, not like the Columbia Tower frenetic lunch bunch. Red Bowls has nothing on this place! My favorite is their Thursday Bibimbap, but they have wonderful deli sandwiches, Panini’s and teriyaki bowls. Give it a try!

Family run, basic deli/café place for a downtown lunch. Usual suspects of sandwiches, salad bar, soup and pan-Asian teriyaki/gyoza, etc. The food is decent, especially the Apple Jack sandwich(turkey with crisp apple slices. Yum!). The chicken teriyaki is also good, comforting and consistent. What pushes Café 5ive to four stars, however, are the super friendly staff. They are a family and work really hard on their business. They always accommodate every request and I’m consistently impressed by the speed and courtesy with which they deliver your order. Café 5ive retains my repeat business because of this commitment to quality and customer service.

The people are friendly and we actually go to this place when it’s not raining. Such a change from our old building’s café, where we only visited if it was storming out and we didn’t want to leave the office. The breakfast sandwich was delicious this morning: nice sized sausage patty, American cheese, and a little bit of a scrambled egg on a buttered, toasted English muffin. They actually cook the egg on a griddle out front and don’t just nuke it in a bowl. The chicken katsu is good, the burgers and fries are good, and everything seems made fresh to order. The french dip seemed to have the deli kind of roast beef, kind of like Arby’s — would rather have had some meat where you can actually see the grain… Love their salad bar, which has the makings for everything I need in a side salad, including bacon bits, nice croutons, cheese, nicely-sliced cucumbers, mushrooms, carrots and much more. The prepared salads look like«store-bought» but I’ll have to give them a try one time.

I sometimes grab coffee there since I work nearby. They are clean and have table/seats for breakfast and lunch seat-in. But their food is not really good and quite pricey compared to other business in Columbia Tower nearby. The teriyaki is salty — big minus for me. Salad is alright but nothing special.
