Worst service ever! Our waitress was visibly drunk, she couldn’t even walk straight. She took our order and then came back 20 minutes later to ask us again if we were ready to order. We asked to speak to the manager, but he was not there so we spoke to the man in charge. He too noticed she was under the influence. She caught wind of us knowing and FAKED a medical emergency!!! The paramedics arrived and we overheard them say that she«just had a bit too much to drink». I seriously thought we were on some kind of hidden camera show. We were there for over 2 hours! Our food came out cold because of all the commotion of this«medical emergency“The worst part is that they didn’t even comp our meal. It was the most ridiculous experience in a restaurant I have ever had. I’m not exaggerating.

Evidently there is a new owner. The Bad. I met the new owner and he could learn to smile and be warm and inviting to his patrons if he is going to survive in the Restaurant biz. The beer(mannys on tap) was too warm. I find the menu to be pretty limiting too. Summary: beer too warm, owner too cold and food options too limited. The Good: great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Really clean bathrooms. This is a neighborhood place and I’m non-plussed. They have competition opening across the street and I’ll be giving them a try before I become a regular at the brickyard.

The food is pretty mediocre and I wouldn’t even call it bbq… more like boiled/baked meat with bbq sauce…, but if you’re in the area and have a bbq craving, you don’t have a lot of options. Service is inconsistent and parking can be tough to find on weekends.

Food OK. Service BAD. Glad this place has a new owner! I look forward to what this place could be in the future…

This is my first ever Unilocal posting. I don’t generally care to do this, but just this once… Please help me to stop these people from selling their food as barbecue. it is food, sure, but barbecue?, no! I have lived in Austin and NC, and sampled the fineries from KC, Memphis and Chicago. All of them, and more. In fact, wherever I go I try the Q. Here’s the deal: I wanted so bad to like these guys, cuz they’re in my hood! That’s right, they are a few blocks away. But alas, it was so so so disappointing. the ribs: dry and overcooked. The rub was less than lip smacking and there was no drippy fatty moisture that you want in baby backs. Jeez, these should be moist and tender, not hard and card board like. the pulled pork: don’t be fooled. They said it was Carolina style on the phone, but it had no trace of vinegar in it at all. Just bland, over lean, dry tasteless shreds of pork. It had even congealed into a pork paste like substance, rather than moist, fatty chunks of true«pulled pork.». the brisket: dry dry dry. dead. the hot links: I’ll give them a few points here, because they are spicy and these, out of everything, actually had some moisture and tenderness. Nothing artisanal here, but decent links. the sauce: I’ll also give them some cred here, although nothing outta the park – just good decent sweet and spicy balanced cue sauce the slaw: I give this an 8, actually, because it tasted homemade. But it needed more sass, vinegar or lemon. It was well dressed but the dressing was a bit too neutral. Beans: average. Not spicy at all. not canned but not great. When I picked up my to-go order, they were far from friendly. I miss the warmheartedness of the carolinas. Shouldn’t a q joint have warmth emanating form every nook and cranny? Please don’t go here. I want someone else to take over this property and sell some real food. Sorry, guys, but this is exactly what Unilocal is for

It was enticed to try this place with friend by the sheer fact that its one of the only few places that serves BBQ on a Sunday after 8. We ordered a combo plate to-go of brisket, ribs, jalapeño cornbread, and coleslaw to share. Pretty hard to f*ck up all of those things but I guess there’s always a time for firsts. The order seemed like it took forever. I think we waited like 25 mins for a to-go plate but on top of that when they went to charge my card, something went wrong with the receipt machine and nobody said anything about it until 10 mins later. I felt like I spent a lot more time there than I intended to for a to-go order. The sauce had a strange herby-oregano taste about it. Almost like it was pizza sauce at one point and someone added stuff to it trying to pass it off as BBQ sauce. Way too tomatoey and herby, but not the right herbs. I realized there’s no such thing as greaseless BBQ but the meat itself was way too greasy for my palate. The brisket was sopped in orange oily fat and it didn’t come with sauce. And it wasn’t that hot, so I had to wonder how you get super greasy lukewarm brisket. The cornbread didn’t have a slice nor even a speck of jalapeño in it. I looked at the menu again when I got home thinking maybe I ordered regular instead of jalapeño cornbread. Nope, there’s no regular cornbread on the menu, just jalapeño cornbread with no jalapeño flavor apparently. For a to-go order they didn’t pack in any utensils, so our plans to eat at a nearby park were nixed and we came home instead. Overall if I came here again it would be for the bar, not the bbq. They serve Rainier and have a decent selection of bottles on hand but otherwise for bbq I think I’d rather find somewhere else.

Large 16 plate order to go and it was quick in the service and ready to go when we arrived. Other then that this place really didn’t provide anything to get excited about. I think it could have been better if we sat and tried to enjoy ourselves at the restaurant. I want to go back and actually try the place inside the layout of the restaurant b/c it looks pretty cool walking in. Food — the cornbread was very good. The salad’s were pretty much what you would expect from a BBQ place and I personally prefer more sauce on my sandwiches, but again I would have made that request if I was at the restaurant. Do not order the brisket, a lot more fat than meat. Decently priced and seems more like a happy hour and have a beer type restaurant.

LOL, I rarely write a scathing review, but… really??? The waitress made out with her boyfriend while we waited for service, tried to save the counter seats for her non-paying(?) friends, and asked us three times if we were ready for a box while we still had forks in our hands. We have been here before and liked the food. Where is the owner lately?

Would give zero stars if possible. Uninterested servers, out of the majority of their food at 8pm on a Saturday night. What was left consisted of 80−90% fat that they called pork(it was also cold!); raw cabbage without any sauce for coleslaw; bean soup with a couple bites that they called BBQ beans. Truly awful and such a bummer since it’s such a cool space. Could be great if they read their reviews and actually did something about their food and customer service… but bottom line is they just don’t care

I really like to support local business, and it’s rare that I wouldn’t give a place a second chance, but sadly I will not go back to Brickyard. After being seated and watching the people who came in after us get their order in, we were served by a nice guy who wondered out loud why our order hadn’t been taken yet. We then waited 45 minutes for our food, which gave us plenty of time to take a look around. We had no silverware, and were sitting at a very poorly cleaned table with a view of a dented brown door that had been propped open against our booth. The space was chilly, and the bathrooms were unheated and downright cold. We saw the waiter eating while taking another order. The food was unfortunate. A french dip swimming in mayo, with über-salty au jus and cold fries that were literally coated with salt, clearly the dregs from the bottom of the pan. We also got a BBQ pork sandwich, which was barely warm. They did comp us our drinks(2 beers and an iced tea, and I had to borrow sugar from another table because there was none on the table and I couldn’t get their attention), but other than that it seems like they got just about everything wrong. Some of the other patrons were clearly unhappy as well. This is a place that I will make a point of telling my friends to avoid. There is much better BBQ with better service and a better atmosphere elsewhere.

Cool atmosphere, if only the food tasted as good as it smelled. BBQ is ok, have had better mac and cheese out of the box, and the sweet potato fries were way over-salted. Great place to hang out and have a beer though!

Large outdoor seating, good for nice days. Looks a little beat up(like all bbq places should) I got: Combo — Brisket, hot link, beans, mac&cheese, jalap cornbread. Brisket: Better than I expected. Sauce was good too. Hot link: My friends told me this was hot. They are liars. It was OK. Mac&cheese: Probably on the same level as Kraft, take that as you will. Beans: They looked good, and were decent, yet there was too much of… something… Jalap CB: Dry, forgettable. Service: Uninterested, but friendly. Can’t complain too much though, as she split our check with a smile after sweet talking her. And(hadn’t realized until after I asked) no computer system and she had to do that by hand. Really though? If you are doing POS, get some software. Its 2011, iphones and robots should have replaced servers by now…

Probably more like a 3.5 … I will preface by saying that coming from NC, my goal has been to find decent BBQ and once again, this place was not it. But I may have too high expectations. I got a Groupon to try this place out … the food was okay. We got the brisket and pulled pork. Some of it was dry if there was no sauce, and the sauce was okay. We asked for spicy but it wasn’t spicy at all. I actually really liked the pea salad, mac & cheese, and cornbread that we ordered with it. The sides were good, and the bbq was so-so. The service was incredibly slow. There didn’t seem to be enough servers, and we had to flag them down quite a few times. The saving grace(s) — a glass of wine is huge, the drink selection is fine, and the night we went, there was a Raffle going on, so there was quite a crowd and it seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves. Also, I really liked the ambiance of the place, it felt like you were in someone’s backyard which was pretty cool. The reason I drop it closer to 3 is just that if BBQ is in your name, then you gotta at least do the BBQ right. But otherwise, if I just want to get drinks and some sides, this is a great place to go esp on a warm summer night as there’s some nice outdoor seating here.

On a beautiful spring day in Seattle, WA a good time was had by all at the Brickyard BBQ. The courtyards and outside seating are a treat in and of themselves. I found the service friendly and responsive. And though the menu ain’t huge, it has a great mix of BBQ basics and a few clever and delicious touches. They had a nice selection of beer, and the spicy BBQ sauce was tangy and wicked. The mix of tangy sauce and coleslaw in my sandwich brought a jolt to my tastebuds and smile to my lips. Now I’ve been to BBQ places where they serve white bread for napkins, and that’s my standard against which I judge all barbecue. So to be fair to Brickyard, this wasn’t that. But the food was tasty, and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. This place is for good eating, and it’s for hanging out.

This was the second time I went and was yet again not impressed by service. But at least this time I was able to eat the food. Handsome had a pulled pork sandwich and it got the pass, but it wasn’t spectacular. I had a salad with chicken. Skimpy on the veggies but the chicken was delicious. Overall the food was a 3. No beer on tap so I paid a lot for just a little old Modelo Negro. Last time we waited outside for what seemed like close to an hour before we ordered and just walked out. Not going here again cause it ain’t really worth it.

So to review this place one has to think of the availability of good BBQ in Seattle, and rate according to the local standard. Yes, you will get better BBQ in the southwest, and the south — and if your rating it down becasue it doesn’t taste like BBQ from the South, you don’t know about BBQ, except from the South. For S/W style, this is a solid BBQ joint(3 star), even in Texas. It is not exceptional by S/W standards, but since were in the PNW, it certainly is certainly a star up. This is mostly Texas/New Mexico style BBQ, and overall they do a good job. That being said, the wait staff is friendly but not very good, and often make mistakes. The sides are mediocre, which is disappointing. They used to serve really good biscuits, I don’t know why they only give corn bread now, that really sucks, but biscuits can be time consuming to make. The meat is normally really good. I only have had one time I got sub-normal meat, and I have eaten here a score of times over the last year. I will say, that when I encountered the«bad» meat it was overly dry and not well seasoned. I wonder if they have a stand in cook, as this is not their normal quality, which is really quite good! Price wise, if you don’t want ribs or a combo, go with the sandwich, it is priced correctly for the volume. The sauce is good, the spicy is better than the mild. However they do USEWAYTOMUCH! I always ask for it on the side, becasue they tend to over-use the sauce. They are relying on the S/W bottle beer in ice for beer. Really though since were in the PNW and don’t need super-cooled beer, and the beer here being some of the finest beer in the world, more taps from local breweries would be much better! A place to hang to drink beer that is not all baseball hats and sports on TV would help draw in more local beer drinkers. So overall this is a 3⁄5 for nation-wise BBQ, but a 4⁄5 for the PNW.

Luckily we had a Groupon for this, otherwise it would have been an even larger waste of money! Food: not too great, it tasted like something that could easily be made at home. My mac and cheese was luke warm and pasty and the cornbread was dry. All the food was well below a servable hot level. Service: Not at all welcoming! We stood around for about 15 minutes waiting for a table before even being acknowledged. Our server came by for the obligatory drink and order taking, but not much else. To her credit, it was pretty busy, but the whole place was rather unwelcoming. Atmosphere: This was their area of excitement. Its really fun that it is all outdoors and really looks like a neighborhood BBQ! Overall: Im glad we went, but really glad it was with a Groupon! Not a place we will go back to.

Not my kind of place… and not much to rave about. A lot of drunk people(or at least the way the look) hanging around and I don’t even know who is employee or not. There’s also a woman singing(live) and I don’t even understand any word(is that English?) The girl who took our order is not even courteous at all. She is always on the rush — you are even talking and she already ready to turn her body around. The food is just mediocre. My barbeque is kind a cold. My corn bread is not moist and stale. I’m giving 3 stars because I usually have high expectations and this is a barbeque place so it should be fun and goofy which is really is. The owner(seems like it) is very corteous. He asked how we are doing with a welcoming smile. I guess he caught our attention because are in our office attire and the rest of the crowd are in jeans, tees and rubber shoes. If you are bunch of college students or a group of goofies who loves to drink, get rowdy and have fun without minding other people even you shout or laugh so loud, this is the place. Imagine you are in your family’s backyard during parties…

I went here to attend the West Seattle tweet-up last night and only tried the pulled-pork tacos. They were great – the sauce looks kind of gross but it was very nummy. The atmosphere is fun for a sunny Seattle day… very casual with kids drawing with chalk on the pathways and a horseshoe pit in the back. The only way this place could improve for me would be to have a better wine list… bbq and wine go GREAT together. Currently you only have a choice between white and red(what ever they have on hand) and the waitress couldn’t even tell me what they were. I opted for white(I think white is a safer bet w/mystery wine) and it was fine. Parking with any restaurant in this neighborhood(North Admiral) can be a royal pain in the butt.

The food here is great, the service is fantastic(it was raining a slight bit, and the owner/manager suggested we move our table under an awning so we could keep the baby with us out of the rain) and we noticed no opening weeks jitters. The jalapeño cornbread was great, the brisket was very well done, and the spicy sauce was better than the sweet, imo. The place has a nice vibe. The only thing I’d suggest is that people be allowed to bring in their own to-go wares and save the $ 1 fee, which I assume is for the to-go containers. But what do I know. I’ll be back. It was good.
