I was craving phở and wanted to try someplace new, so we ordered Boom Noodle and had it delivered. My tofu phở was the least underwhelming phở I’ve ever eaten. I wish I had gotten a photo. Picture this… little pile of noodles, 3 small pieces of broccoli, 3 small pieces of tofu, 2 green beans, and a couple slivers of carrots. Hmmm. No sliced onions, no bean sprouts(which they mentioned on the menu), and certainly not enough vegetables. Most of the phở you can get around town has onions, mushrooms, bok choy, and definitely more than 6 veggies total. The phở was disappointing to say the least, and felt like a complete after thought on their end. Definitely not something I wanted to pay $ 10 for. My girlfriend ordered the vegetable ramen and also was underwhelmed and said it was completely bland. Never again will I order from boom noodle. There’s PLENTY of good food and good phở in this city. Don’t waste it on this place.

I took an out-of-town friend here last night. First time to Boom since its reopening. While we were promptly seated, drink service was fairly slow. However, food service was a bit quicker. I went with the spicy garlic beef rice dish. It was delicious and not too salty. Quite flavorful. As appetizer, I went with gyoza which were less than spectacular. They weren’t bad. …but they weren’t great either. I’ll come back again.

I keep hoping their quality problems will go away but they don’t. Tonight I watched the server walk by us three times before stopping to take our order.(We were one of two tables in the section.). Our appetizer plates were not cleared.(The broiled rice cakes are delicious). My dish(a tasty Mongolian beef) arrived cold. When boom first opened(the first time) it was my favorite place. Please do something!

The phad Thai is really awesome here. The chicken wing sauce for the«Angry Chicken Wings» is gross and didn’t seem edible haha. Won’t be getting that again. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls is awesome. The service was wonderful. Really dark in there but was still a nice ambience.

I really love this place! Their binto boxes are awesome with more than enough food. I’m also stoked I found a good place my husband can get phở at that has a ton of different options since I’m not a fan of phở(yeah yeah I know I’m weird). Also they have some of the best Pad Thai I have ever had! Eat here! Do it!

I like boom. But for their non Japanese dishes. Their spring rolls are super good with mint, esp. But don’t go there for ramen. I just had it and it was nasty. Go to kukai if you are craving ramen. They make much better ramen. I really do wish boom made better ramen. Their HH ramen is less than $ 7 and it is super close to my condo, but alas… it is no Bueno. #edit: to explain why their ramen is no good, here are some: their broth has no depth. They don’t know how to make proper onsen egg. And their noodle tastes like they bought it from samurai noodle. Yeah it was not good at all.

Food is pretty good. A lot of flavor and great décor/environment. What I cant get over is the service. I have been here a couple times and each time there is a waitress/bar girl that is so obnoxiously loud, yet never cares to check on you. She has(really badly done) stars tattooed behind her right ear, so if you get her, ask for another server.

Tuna tacos on happy hour, that’s the way to go. Drinks are hit and miss though, I had the cucumber cooler(wanted something light to go with my tacos) and I wasn’t sure if there was any booze in there. I wouldn’t order it again, but be sure to check the rotating daily happy hour cocktail on their website. Happy hour all night on Thursday’s and from 3 – 6:30 seven days a week. Remember, order the tuna tacos, at $ 5 they’re a total steal!

I love that Boom has all day happy hour on Thursdays particularly because that’s one of my days off. I ordered a cucumber cooler and honestly, hated it. It was a little too sweet and I couldn’t even taste the alcohol. I like my drinks to have some bite. Fortunately, my friend offered to take my drink and I ordered a house wine. It wasn’t the best either, but with wine, I will drink it no matter what! While I wasn’t thrilled with my drinks(a fluke, I’m sure), the food, on the other hand more than made up for it. Definitely order the edamame purée. I’m one of the only people on the planet who doesn’t really care for edamame… but I care very much about this purée. It paired well with my tokyo ramen that was richly flavored. The edamame purée was fresh tasting and cleansed my palette in between salty spoonfuls of ramen. My friend ordered the chicken lettuce wraps and while I didn’t taste it, I caught a whiff of the chicken and almost regretted not ordering it. Oh! Something went amiss with our edamame purée order so it took awhile to arrive so it was on the house. I appreciated that. Looking forward to coming back again — I’m sure I’ll have better luck with drinks next time! :)

I came here on a Sunday for happy hour in the afternoon. The place was pretty relax with the football game on the all the TVs around the bar. Let me say the tuna tacos are absolutely delicious. I’m not 100% sure what they put in there but damn were they tasty. $ 5 got me 3 or 4 small fusion style tuna sashimi tacos in what seemed like a rice cake taco shell. I also had the $ 8 bowl or ramen which is HUGE. Great value and the pork was super tender and delicious. The flavoring of the broth was very different from a standard tonkatsu broth so be aware. I still haven’t decided whether or not I’m a fan of the broth or not. Last but not least I ordered the $ 5 «Asian» bbq ribs. They would of been the best ribs I’ve ever had if the sauce wasn’t too sweet. I loved how tender the meat was, it melted off the bone. It took us a while to get some bottles of water for the table but once we had those we were good to go. I would definitely come back here again for happy hour. Those tacos are so so so so good!

First time here since they’d relocated from the U-district. Great service. I usually rave about their ramen but something is different about their broth. Flavorful but suspect less meaty flavor. Ribs were meaty with yummy sauce. Downside: parking is now a hassle so will reconsider going out of my way to come here. Too bad because I loved their old location. Coming here will need to be an outing instead of a quick dinner.

They weren’t ready for the Saturday afternoon crowd; service was spotty, and I ended up walking to the bar to close out after waiting 15 minutes or so in the booth for a check. As for the food, well: I’ve never before had gyoza that I thought would be improved by peanut sauce, nor had gyoza with peanut sauce, so there’s that. The ramen, well, the noodles were overcooked and mealy, the broth was kind of one-note, the shiitake mushrooms would have been better blanched, but there was an abundance of toppings. It felt like a rushed American take on ramen. Also the house sake is super super sweet. Super sweet.

I recently came here with a girlfriend who suggested it for happy hour(everyday from 3 – 6:30) & I could not have been more impressed! There is a huge selection on their happy hour menu and extremely cheap prices! Our server Bill was so sweet and attentive! He was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed. Even the guy who bused for our table(Richard) was awesome! They have different craft cocktails for just $ 4 every day of the week. We had the ginger lemon martini and it was amazing! She ordered the ramen($ 8) it was so delicious and perfectly hearty. I ordered the chicken fried rice($ 4) & the gyoza($ 4) both were great and we had left over food to take home! I will definitely be coming back to try more on their happy hour menu, but their full menu has a few jems I’d love to try as well.(Um.hello BACONRAMEN&RAMENBURGER) Come try this place for happy hour!!! You won’t regret it!

I came in on Thursday, which is when they have Happy Hour all day. Tried some of their happy hour menu items, the sticky ribs were not bad, and the miso rice balls are interesting. Drinks(well drinks, beer, some cocktails) are well priced during happy hour. I don’t remember the prices exactly, but I would say $ 2.50-$ 4.50 would be your price range for drinks during happy hour. My boyfriend got the ramen burger and he was pretty meh about it, and our friend got the Kushiyaki Dog which he considered pretty decent. I got the pad thai which was flavorful, but I think they used a little bit too much fish sauce. It left a fish sauce after taste which I don’t get with most pad thai(usually get more tamarind flavor). The portion of it was huge though, enough for 2 meals and they gave me plenty of chicken and tofu which made me happy. I hate it when places skimp on the tofu and give me like, 2 pieces. We also got their chocolate waffle ice cream sandwich for dessert, and let me tell you it was HUGE. Don’t let the price and the description fool you! I thought for $ 6, I’d be getting something small and pretty mediocre, but the waffle was enough to share with 4 people(each person getting a quarter) and it was pretty darn good. Waffle was made fresh and didn’t have the freezer waffle chewy texture. I can’t wait to try their japanese shaved ice next! All of their desserts are super well priced. So, we got a good amount of food and drinks during happy hour at a reasonable price(for Capitol Hill). The total was about 4 drinks, 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 1 dessert for ~$ 70? I’m also having leftover pad thai for lunch, a gift that keeps on giving. I’d definitely hit up Boom again and their prices for desserts has definitely won me over.

I got the Yakisoba noodles and added chicken with a bit of habanero. Really filling meal! It was pretty tasty though I don’t eat Yakisoba often and dont know how to describe it well. It was pretty sweet and you couldn’t taste the habanero much(there was enough teriyaki to tone the heat down.) the noodles were $ 10 and chicken was $ 2 extra. I also got the Bloody Mary which was okay but nothing special. It was $ 8 and had some kimchi so it sounded interesting but tasted more or less like a normal bloody in an odd jar.

Came for a drink to see the new inside. Relatively the same as the original boom noodle aside from the booths instead of long tables. Ordered a drink. Literally the weakest drink I’ve ever had at a bar in Seattle. I watched the bartender make other drinks and some were even worse than mine highly disappointing. They must really be keeping tabs on their liquor and overcharging but not pouring. Best part… The Gyoza. Otherwise no good… Again.

I dropped in for a snack during their happy hour(5 – 7) and got their tuna tacos for $ 5. It was a good deal, you get 4 small ahi tacos but they are super good. They had a few beers and a Seattle cider on tap and they were $ 3 during happy hour which is a pretty solid deal, especially on Capitol Hill. I sat at the bar, there were four people behind the bar(seemed like a lot for the size of the bar but they must have been gearing up for a busy night) and the gentleman who took care of me was a cool guy. I would definitely go back!

I have to say epic fail. I ordered the award winning Bacon Ramen Burger. I was less then happy when the small sandwich was slathered in Mayo which wasn’t listed on the menu, and the staff didn’t have a clue if it came with mayo or not. The uncaring disconnect between client and staff is be a huge downfall of this reboot of this Capitol Hill lication. Not suprised the U District location failed. Check the price on your bill cause when the bill came the pricing was not same as printed on the menu.
