Disclosure: I grew up with a winemaking grandpa who encouraged me to support small, independent wine shops. That said, I’ve been to different wine shops in the Pacific Northwest, and my short time at this shop was exceptionally relaxed and educational. The shop has that Alaska/Junction neighborhood feel – laid-back and welcoming, but professional. I ordered a glass of wine after work and read in their seating area. In the hour and a half I was there, I learned so much just from watching the couple who own/run the shop. It was great to hear their insights into the wine industry. The owners were honest, generous, and passionate about wine. I will definitely be returning when I’m in the neighborhood.

Very knowledgable staff. Great wine bar addition along California frontage, with small plates to enhance your sipping. Nice PNW wines on offer, along with seasonally appropriate French varietals.

Excellent and expertly curated selection of wines. Creative variety of monthly wine club options. Weekly wine tastings(currently on Thursday evenings.) Almost always staffed by at least one of the owners, who are very knowledgeable about wine and love talking with customers and walking them through the selection process. Perhaps best of all: Now serving wine by the glass and small plates of food in the newly renovated front room of the shop, with a view of the bustle at the Junction just outside the front window. If you haven’t been lately, go check it out!

Had a wonderful experience talking about wine with the owners. They pointed us to the right direction and cannot wait to do tastings at their shop!!! Love a local wine spot.

Now that I’ve been to Bin 41 several times, I can say that they have consistently great service. The owner is always friendly, helpful and down to earth.

We needed a good bottle of wine to go with our Thanksgiving meal. We were looking for a French wine from the Pomerol region which is a small region in France thus rare to find in any wine shop in the states. We visited 3 wine shops in the Seattle area and no one had them. We stumbled upon this wine shop in West Seattle and they had it! We quickly looked up the year(2009) and it was supposedly a fantastic year for that wine. The woman working there was very knowledgeable about wine, friendly and even gave us a recommendation for a winery in San Francisco. Overall a lovely experience and I would go back there in a heartbeat if I’m ever in the Seattle area.

I love this place. The selection is strong and the owners are extremely helpful in making sure you have a good experience. I look forward to attending some of their tasting events in the near future!

A very nicely stocked wine shop with a lot of hard-to-find gadgets that the serious oenophile needs; I strongly recommend you check these guys out! The owners are locals who love wine, and I think they should be supported. (Yes, I did write a critical review before, but after a nice online conversation with the owner, I’m of a mind that I may have seen a situation in an unfairly negative light. If one sets that aside, the shop is actually quite good; I think you should check them out!)

The prices are pretty on par with the rest of the places I frequent and I was actually surprised to see how well it was stocked. Wish the service was a bit more friendly or warm. This is where I pick up my Basque wine when I can’t find it anywhere else.

I popped in here the other day as I was walking by. Their wine racks are cool. Their selection is OK. I think they are overpriced. They had some interesting wine gifts/tchockes. The front was kind of disorganized looking, with a few little tables/chairs & lots of boxes. There were some bottles on the counter that appeared open, but it wasn’t clear to me if they were offering any kind of tasting. I’ve been in many other wine shops that seemed a warmer & more personable. Maybe it was off day?

Picked up a couple of wines to hold at w Seattle wine, but got some wine for tonight from bin41. Good wine shops with knowledgeable staff are hard to find so when I find two in my neighborhood I try to support both.

For me the only downside to the Bin is that it’s so damn far from my house, and really it’s not so much the distance as it is the West Seattle Bridge. The owners, are fantastic, its a small family place, the kind of place you want in your neighborhood, and the kind you want to support. They know about wines, and they’re plugged into the winemaking community in Washington, as well as Oregon, and I get the impression, even California. They can make recommendations and they program the space to get a lot out of it, the prices are fair and they remember you. Lots of cool classes, tastings, etc. West Seattle, I envy you.

Went to thier tasting on the 6th of October. A pack of truffle roasted almonds and a bottle of wine were purchased, various wine was consumed, lovely green walls and(custom, maybe?) wine racks were noted! Good times. What I remember most is the truffle honey. I thought it was interesting to have so many truffle infused products in a wine shop. I think this place was made with me in mind.

Nice local wine store with very friendly, knowledgeable staff who are not snobs. A good selection, but not a lot of rare or exotic stuff. I go here just because I want to support locals.

Rather ostentatious but the funniest and most cunning excuse as to why they charge $ 5.00 for their wine tastings. Are you ready? «To manage foot traffic and provide a comfortable experience for our guests, there is a $ 5 tasting fee, refundable with any bottle purchase.» HAhahahahahah. I’ve never heard anything so stupid. Take your $ 5.00 over to the grocery store and buy a nice Californian Zinfandel from the Dry Creek Valley. Remember some of the best wine places still offer free tasting I.E. Sonoma county. Go and visit if you want real wine. Also try FREE wine tasting at West Seattle Wine Cellars each Thursday evening. Tom is incredibly knowledgeable about wine. He’s intelligent, sincere and funny. And if you do not like the wine, no worries because it was FREE!

Well, what do we have here? Why, it’s a new wine shop on California Ave! The owners lovingly opened their doors to the Unilocal hooligans for the Royale Block Party, bless their hearts. After I made my way through their samples, I just had to buy a bottle. After all, the yummy red wine was only $ 16! While they rang me up, we chit-chatted about their business and all of the tastings they do – every Wednesday night at 5:30, plus every 2nd Thursday during the art walk. I’ll be back, Bin 41! Next time with more than just a $ 20 bill.

It’s a wine shop with lots of bottles of wine from around the world made from grapes that you can buy and then at some later time you can drink said bottle of wine while perhaps eating fancy cheeses with perhaps a lady friend who might get a little tipsy which leads to you getting lucky. And you have Bin 41 to thank for said luckiness.

What an awesome addition to the ‘hood! I could break the bank if I spend too much time in Bin 41. I popped in on a sunny day to check out the digs and found myself totally in love with this cute and cozy shop. The owners were talking shop with some customers and offering tastings. They seemed so kind and approachable — even to people like me who don’t know squat about wine! In fact, their layout is great. Labels are easy to read and the selection is vast. Not only will you find wines by region and country, they have a discount selection, an organic selection, and even a selection of wines that are made by female winemakers! So cool! I don’t live in West Seattle but whenever I’m in the area, I’ll be sure to stop in and shop a bit!

Review on the run! –60% of stock is local Washington/Oregon wines. –Owners have lived in West Seattle for 10 years. –They have a value section for whites and reds 11 bucks and under, with about 10 bottles each. –They have a «green» section with either organic, or carbon-offset, or dry-grown wines from around the world. –Grand opening today and for the next 4 days and they will be hosting tastings. A different local restaurant will be providing the food at each. Jak’s Grill, Fresh, and Mashiko included. –They promise to continue the local and social aspects of the business by working with other junction businesses for tastings and local events. –Overall I loved the experience, the ownership was very friendly and knowledgeable and the husband and wife team was completely endearing. Great addition to the ‘hood!
