BevMo!

I tried to buy a pop here. Not a barley pop, a SODA pop. They asked for my ID. They said it was «required by law». I didn’t have my wallet and only had the cash to buy the soda pop. So the person checking me out refused to sell it to me. I though to myself, «well my wife is in the car and she has her ID», so I went back to the car and sent her in. Guess what? They refused to sell it to her as well. They said «we can’t sell this to you because we know the guy without the ID is with you». We thought we were having a weird/​bad dream or something. How could this be state law?
Luckily a much better liquor/​wine store called Total Wine is less than 2 blocks away and they were happy to sell me a soda pop while laughing at the story I just had the pleasure of telling them regarding their competitor.

This place isn’t as big as other Bevmo stores I’ve been to but sometimes bigger isn’t always better. Went there to get some stuff for a pink elephant party and to my surprise, they had a deal of buy 2 for the price of 1 on select wines, and there were tons to select from. I was going to make mulled wine so found myself some good reds for 2 bottles for $ 16. Score! Also got some sparkling wine because its also 2 for the price of 1. They always have deals on alcohol and this place is pretty good if you don’t want to go to Costco

BevMo! has certainly earned the exclamation point in its name.
I could spend all day here, just admiring the packaging, comparing the different products offered, imagining the recipes I could create… even just the variety of sodas is overwhelming. If only I had the time and tolerance to try them all!

I really can’t believe how disappointed I am by this store. In the good old days when BevMo was not in WA I would patronize other locations especially in CA and find amazing interesting liquors and wine. It seems now that they are here in WA their selection is crap. The «service» is crap and the whole experience was simply bad. The employee that I interacted with was not knowledgeable about liquor or wine. I went in looking for a few different liquors which they didn’t have and wine that they didn’t have. Yes, they do have a fairly large selection of sparkling wine/​champagne but the selection is missing so many things and they didn’t have any of the kinds I wanted. Also, the prices were higher here than at QFC. Oh Bevmo, what happened? I never thought I would miss state controlled liquor stores but I do.

So Bevmo being from California I didn’t realize they had Bevmo here in Washington Seattle area. Having a discount card helps (get one) and they have a great selection for a good price, you can find wines on sale buy 1 get the 2^nd free, they have a cold wine selection and beers also. This one they have the sample bottles up at the front of the store which i was looking for. They have mixers and help you with what you like.

Before grabbing your favorite bottled beer, ask about what they have on tap in the growler section!
I’m from California so I don’t know if this is common but there’s a fridge in the back that has taps and the growlers are only $ 5!
Also, the prices were lower than most places around.
Keep in mind they card everyone in your party even if you walked in with someone and they walked out when you go to pay. Keep your I. D’s handy!
Btw, excellent staff! Management should be proud.

I love going to the magical boozy wonderland that is BevMo when visiting friends in California, so I was excited when we finally got one here. What the Northgate store lacks in convenient location, it makes up for with a wide selection and friendly staff.
It’s in the same space that the old state liquor store was, but they’ve expanded so it’s quite large now. As you walk in, the beer and cider are immediately in front of you, with spirits off to the right and wine in the large back area to the left. They have a pretty good selection of mini bottles up front near the registers, and a small food section with nonperishable chips and crackers plus a cold case for cheeses, veggie trays, and the like. They also have mixers next to the spirits, and party supplies like plastic cups, napkins, wine openers, etc.
The prices seem pretty good (for Washington), and they often have sales on their wine and beer that encourage me to try stuff I might not have otherwise. They have some locally made alcohol, but it’s kind of spread out throughout the store and you have to seek it out — it would be nice if they emphasized it more in their displays.
If you sign up for their free rewards program, you’ll get coupons in the mail and other benefits, plus in-​store member discounts. The employees are friendly and will actually ask how you’re doing and if they can help you find anything. If you’re planning a party or restocking your home bar, it’s worth making the trip here and doing all your shopping at once to save some $$$.

I absolutely freaking love this store.
I was a little skeptical at first when I heard BevMo was going to be coming in when liquor sale was privatized in Washington, but it is so worth going in to.
No, the prices won’t be much better than the average grocery store, at least not on beer. What they blow the competition away with, however, is selection. It is essentially a small grocery store in and of itself dedicated entirely to alcohol. There are routinely things my friends and I hear about or find at BevMo that we can’t find anywhere else.
Staff is always friendly and attentive — one night my significant other and I were in the store and a clerk actually sought us out and asked us if we wanted to try a sample of what turned out to be a really lovely wine, despite it not being one of their regular sample days. We ended up coming back and buying a bottle for Valentine’s day. The clerks always seem to be in good spirits (hah, get it?), always willing to share a story or an opinion related to any item you ask about.
I go in here just to wander and revel, without necessarily wanting to buy anything when I first walk in. It’s fun, try it sometime.

I may look good for my age, which is 52, but not that good. I have been popping into BevMo at least once a week since the Northgate location opened near my home. I don’t drive, and therefore, I don’t pay much attention to my state-​issued ID card because the only time I’m ever called upon to use it is on the off chance I get carded. Which is rarely. So one Friday on my way home from work after a really long week, I stop at BevMo for a bottle of wine. I was carded at the counter, and the cashier said «Oh, your ID expired, I can’t sell to you.» I thought maybe she was joking, and said «Are you kidding me?» Yes my ID expired two months earlier, but for once a week for the past two months, no one at BevMo seemed to care. Even if it had expired, I did had not, and I am still 52 years old and still of legal age to buy liquor.
I hadn’t even made a fuss yet, when she asked if I wanted to speak to the manager, so I say sure. Out he comes, and confirms that they cannot sell to me because even though I’m 52 years old, and have been legally able to purchase alcohol for the past 31 years, he can’t sell it to me because my ID is expired. I get that there are laws to prevent selling alcohol to minors, or maybe even there are some drivers who are not allowed to purchase alcohol because of DUIs, but I have never had a driver’s license, and there’s no reason I could think of why someone can’t purchase wine even with a two-​month expired ID.
Also, preventing a 52 year old woman from getting her Friday night merlot on is so not cool.
I’m not sure if I’m angry with BevMo for selectively enforcing this particular law or because the corporate higher-​ups don’t let their managers have the power of independent thinking or being able to make decisions on a case-​by-​case basis.
If that was my first time in the store, then okay, maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal but like I said, even though I wasn’t in there daily, I have been there weekly since they opened.
So, even though this store has a great selection of wine, beers, mixers, sodas and spirits, the prices aren’t any better than QFC or Safeway, where they still let me buy wine.
I updated my ID but I won’t be shopping at BevMo again.
UPDATED: I got over my snit and shop there again and am adding more stars because I realize they are just doing their job and when I wrote this review I was like, all, like, old cranky lady and shit. I just don’t cash out with a noob and try to get in a register line being operated by someone who recognizes me. They have GREAT wine and often run two for one sales and snacks! Yes, great snacks — cheeses, crackers, nuts, candy, chips … one stop shop for your next party.

Yeah… so this is a liquor store…
It has lots of shelves and stuff… and the shelves are full of liquor…
In that respect, BevMo deserves four stars…

I placed an order online and stopped in to pick it up on NYE. I expected grouchy help and surly customers. I found neither.
My cashier offered to help me with my bottles and I politely refused. I thought I could manage but it turned out that four bottles of Prosecco make for a heavier load than I anticipated. The couple who I allowed to cut in front of me, ended up helping me with the bag when the husband returned his cart to the front of the store. Don’t you love holiday niceness?
I try my best to shop local but it’s far too enticing to place an order online then collect it an hour later, bagged and ready to go. Costs were also competitive so my decisions will be a little harder to make.
Parking was a little tight but it is about to be NYE so I expected that. If I returned, I might write a follow up to see if folks/​staff still as pleasant.

The people that work here are helpful and attentive. The selection is what you’d expect from a BevMo (I’m from California), and the prices are pretty reasonable.
Plenty of parking in the lot, and they’ve got more than enough to choose from to get your party started. Just press one of the help buttons on the locked cases and someone comes running! I was impressed. I know that the location is new, so I hope that service is always that great. The BevMo placards that tell you which bottles have won awards and such are so much nicer than choosing «something new» blindly at Safeway.

Really impressed with this store. I don’t often get excited about wine and liquor stores… more about what is inside of them.
BevMo has a really great selection and insane deals. While I visited many wine bottles were 2 for 1. My friend also had a coupon for $ 10 off $ 50, and you build points by using your card. We probably walked out with 8 bottles or so for about $ 45, ranging between $ 10-​$ 20 per bottle originally.
Also, one of the employees, Michael, was really helpful. He spent a lot of time with us suggesting wines and then local beers. We’ve liked everything we’ve tasted so far.

I felt like a kid in a candy store. Everyone (ESP the manager) was extremely helpful at making me spend as much of my money as possible. And I had no problem doing that.
I now have a little mini bar starting! The prices are generally more reasonable than the grocery store. All of my brands were at least 4 bucks cheaper than anywhere else I’ve seen.
Luckily it is a pain for me to drive over here, or I would be at Bev Mo at least 3x a week.

Yeah, so what’s the big deal about this place… BevMo! my good friend was yelling at me, You been to BevMo, Susan? You gotta go to BevMo!!! Now!!!
BevMo! turned out to be a somewhat overpriced wine/​liquor/​beer/​beer nut/​snacks store that might satisfy the last-​minute needs of a NFL playoff party, but I was under whelmed. Really. Underwhelmed. The wine selection — Total Wines has way more wines and usually more reasonable prices. Liquor — well stocked in the basics, but otherwise, the regular prices are horrendous. Beers — don’t know, since I don’t drink beer. But if you know your wines or liquors, you’ll know where you can get them cheaper at other places.
However, my friend swears by the huge wine deals this place has. Maybe I’ll check it out sometime, but from what I’ve seen, this place is probably best if you’re needing a bottle or two of something and are short on time (but definitely not cash).

I’ve been to BevMo in California and was jealous that we didn’t have one! Until recently I heard we were finally getting one in WA state! Yeyy!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! It’s like a candy store for grown ups! They have a huge selection of any kind of booze you could want! They have a variety of beers from around the world. They also fill growlers and sell kegs to go!
They have 3 – 4 rounders of airplane bottles of liquor (which I haven’t seen anywhere since we passed our new law.) They have tons of wine too!
They have a club card (think Safeway) which you can sign up for at check out and get the savings right away!
They have wine tastings and beer tastings on Fridays and Saturdays and I believe they’re free if you’re a BevMo member!
The gift section is very cool too, great place to pick up a last minute gift for the booze enthusiast in your life!

BevMo! really deserves that exclamation point in their name. The store is very exciting. They have a great beer selection — not as good as a beer only store but the next best thing — with a good variety of domestic and international beers. The wine department is large and sorted by varietal, I didn’t have a chance to peruse the labels. They have a pretty good hard liquor section with all of the reliable brands, as well as some exotic and unusual choices.
They also sell mixers, sodas, snacks, glasses, and bar accessories. We found some pretty kickin’ ghost pepper salsa and a fun set of swizzle sticks. I really like this store, and the location is great! The «Club Bev» also offers some good customer loyalty discounts, which I’m sure to benefit from.

If so, please report to BevMo this instant. Although smaller than CA stores I’ve frequented (their Rewards program is transferable from state to state!!) this BevMo packs a punch. You can find ANYTHING here that will make you happy. Are you a peanut and lager kinda guy? Stuffed olives and Goose kinda girl? Interesting in finding a single of brew you thought you could only find in a restaurant? All here.
From gift baskets to the entire collection of Riedel, to growlers to airplane shots, BevMo got you covered. I can’t compare whether it’s pricier than state run or grocery store liquor prices, but I’m guessing price is less important when you finally found that ancient bottle of tawny port or the ever so elusive Patron Burdeos (gag me with a silver cuchara).

**Update** Just want to say again how much I love this place. But, I also like supporting local businesses so if you live closer to Wine World, please go there. But if you live within a stones’s throw, it’s pretty cool.
BevMo! BevMo!
When I lived in California, I loved shopping at BevMo! to stock up for parties. I was really happy to see that a new BevMo! was opening up nearby. This place is not as big as some of the BevMo! locations I’ve been to in Calif, but it’s big enough with great inventory. Pricing is competitive and it’s nice to have (almost) everything you need for a cocktail party in one place. With the holidays, it’s nice to be able to get in/​out easily, too.

I felt like a kid in a candy store when I stepped foot inside BevMo. They have a great selection of alcohol and the people working were very helpful of finding what I needed. BevMo also has a two-​for-​one deal for selected bottles of wine, although I didn’t see anything that stood out to me at the time.
Aside from the alcohol they also have a decent selection of snacks, non-​alcoholic beverages, cigars and accessories that’s perfect to give away as gifts.
I’m pretty happy BevMo finally opened in Seattle, just in time for the holidays.
