I am glad my hair grow fast, because I’m wearing a hat now, after my visit to this place. No sense of style, no good technique either. Totally disappointed.

A stunningly beautiful woman steps away from the stylist’s chair. Her sexy, silky blonde hair is perfect and every head turns as she walks by. From the waiting area, a frumpy patron whose own unruly hair resembles a frightened hedgehog points and announces to the hairdresser, «Make mine look just like hers!» Everyone laughs. Obviously some of us need more help than others, but it’s always nice to look in the mirror and witness a small miracle – or at least a flattering new look. If you want your own best image to shine, give Lynn Olsen a visit at her salon on 3rd Avenue West just across the loop from Seattle Pacific University. Lynn is a third generation stylist occupying the same cozy wood-frame shop that was started by her grandfather in 1953. She and her dad, Lyle, who is also an excellent barber/stylist, share the space(his half is called Styling, Etc.) and both have a mile-long list of regular customers like me who would never, ever think of going anywhere else for a haircut or styling. It’s remarkable that a small, family-owned business like this can continue to successfully compete with the large, glittery salons, but once you visit Best Image Salon you will understand why – that is, if you appreciate a warm, friendly atmosphere, excellent service, and extremely reasonable prices. Lynn listens carefully to each customer and never goes overboard with anything too radical or extreme. If you want purple and orange spikes or an eight-inch Mohawk, you’d best go somewhere else since she does not do coloring or dye jobs. But Lynn does have a superb eye for suggesting the most complimentary cut or style for each customer, male or female. And the best part is that when she picks up the shears, her work is careful and the results consistent time after time. Friends and colleagues who patronize this unassuming little shop never seem to have a complaint. That’s a darn good record, and Lynn and her dad have earned their solid reputation after more than 50 years in the business! It is hard to believe that no one has reviewed this shop, but after all, it’s one of the best kept secrets in the Queen Anne area. You’ll definitely need an appointment since Lynn is generally booked several days to a week in advance. The shop is closed on Mondays, but if you leave a message your call will be returned in a timely fashion. Give her a try and when you glance in the mirror, you may decide you’ve never looked so good.
