I’m being punished for being their customer. Yes! U heard me right.
DONOT buy a membership card no matter how much they insist u to. The perks r not that great! I am an avid reader and I read only using books ’cause I love the paper smell. I thought that I was going to use the discount a lot since I purchase their books a lot from online too. Later I discovered that I can’t use the membership perks with the third party sellers that sell through Barnes and Nobles website. Unless u r buying a load of books every single month, it’s a complete waste. I made two big purchases after that for holiday gifts and did not use my card to get the discount, so that I’ll be able to return it. The girl at the billing counter told me to call customer service, they should refund the money after deducting the discount I got while I purchased the card. Here is what happened:
If I could give NO STAR for the phone-​CUSTOMER Service I would. They hardly understood what I spoke and it was hard for me to understand them. They kept transferring me to different services. After talking to 5 people, they said that my account is ineligible for refund, since I got discount on the books I purchased while I purchased the card. IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN A MONTH SINCE I PURCHASED THE CARD! Looking at the rest of the purchases I did there, $ 25 is not so much, but I hate being cheated like this!
Seriously! Is the company that desperate in making money by forcing people into buying membership cards?! I use to love Barnes and Nobles! It’s a shame that I had to encounter this bitter experience.

This is the best Banes and Noble in the state, as it carries more stock than any other. What’s nice is that on the Barnes and Noble website, you can see if the item is available to pick-​up in store and more often than anywhere else, the item I’m looking for seems to be at this location. There are two stories with cashiers on both levels, and you can enter from outside or from the Pacific Place shopping centre. There is a café, entertainment department and no matter how busy it gets, the customer service is quick in helping you locate an item. I would give this place five stars, but in my most recent visit, I went to use the restroom and it was blocked off and there were no longer signs indicating it was the restroom, which was odd. Since I had been here before I knew that there used to be restrooms here, but I guess they closed it now? When I asked one of the sales associates where the restroom was she told me that it’s located outside in the mall. So, that’s inconvenient, especially since you don’t want to have to go in and out of the store if you’re not done browsing. I hope they reopen the restrooms.

Great selection of books that updates constantly. The staff has always been helpful and pleasant in both the store and the café. This is my favorite spot downtown to relax with a cup of coffee while perusing for a new read.

This is by far the largest and most amazing B and N I have ever been to! For that it gets 4 stars! I loved that it seemed to have everything… including escalators! I was for sure a fan! What I do not love are the prices. I was going to buy a book by Grace Helbig, but instead looked on Amazon and saw it would cost me half the price to order it online. So, not the best for that reason, but if you find a mega sale it’s not too terrible!

This Barnes & Noble is physically large and they have substantial choices on sale, and a lot of notebooks and literary gifts. I appreciate the magazine section, with local, national and global editions.
Registers are not always maintained with staff and the café seems to attract a lot of strange characters that will stalk you through the store. Go for a quick find or Pacific Northwestern treats and treasures.
The location is quite ideal, if visiting.

Th location is convenient whenever I head downtown to do a bit of shopping. The bookstore is spacious with two stories and has a decent selection of books. However, the place is a bit understaffed. It’s hard to find staff for help, and often the register has no one there. But overall, this a nice place I enjoy coming to.

Love this place! So much fun roaming around in this bookstore! Except for they charged me for membership without explaining to me the costs and how it works! They recommended it but then afterwards charged me!

Great location! Very walkable, we live in Queen Anne and walk to this location regularly. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. They are quick to smile, greet you and ask questions about your search. They are also very happy to lend a hand or show you where a certain genre is without hesitation!

I love this Barnes & Noble! It is a great big store and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. AnnaLee, the event coordinator, hosted a great Educator’s Appreciation Day today! I was lucky enough to be one of three local children’s book authors invited to participate. We had the opportunity to talk with educators as they came by to get their ‘passports’ stamped. Barnes & Noble has done a great job organizing programs to support educators nation-​wide. Thank you Barnes & Noble and AnnaLee for a wonderful day, a successful program, and the sugar cookies!

This place reminds me of Chapters. Decent selection of books, well organized, some of the titles, specifically the cooking section had some prices that were hit and miss with the CND prices, especially since it is now 80 cents on the dollar. With that said, I did skip some prospects, however, took a few discount titles home. Good customer service.

I found a book on the Barnes and Noble website listed at $ 48.67. I preferred to pick it up in the store, but when I tried to click on the «pick up in store» button, it did not work. I called the store to see if I could pick it up and the clerk said they would hold it for me. When I arrived at the store, I was surprised to find that the price was $ 69.99. The clerk said that the in store price was always higher than the web price, and that customers often came in without knowing this based on the lack of information on the website.
The clerk made no attempt to rectify the situation.
I call the manager (Joe) who told me «it is deceptive how the price is shown on the computer.» He also made no attempt to rectify the situation.
This seems to be a clear case of deceptive advertising and bait & switch. I will not be shopping at Barnes and Noble again.

This B&N location is super convienient for me as I work a few blocks away. I mainly buy books for reading on the bus or read during lunch breaks. Nice selection of books from what you see online.(But I dont think the online inventory is accurate from what they have in-​store).
Store is pretty big with upstairs being mainly for periodicals etc. Downstairs is where most of the other books are at. They have discount tables, clearance tables in the middle which is nice as you may find something interesting for cheap. Some seating areas spead among the store, not a whole lot but there are spots here & there.
The tough thing I seem to run into is finding staff to help me, seems like there aren’t enough staff on the floor, or working at the desk to help you. They are running back & forth with helping people, on the portable phone they carry running to check inventory on the shelf etc. Sometimes people line up in the check-​out line to just ask a question to the staff.

I stopped in at the café to grab a drink on my way to an event in downtown. I didn’t have time to peruse the books.
The server/​cashier was polite and fast, so I was basically in and out.
I noticed that this B&N is 2 stories and is massive, but even in my brief time there, I saw that they were selling a lot of things that weren’t books as the main eye catchers at the main entrance. They had Darth Vader toys, dog biscuit treat makers, candies and cookies.
This location is on the ground floor of Pacific Place and is near the parking garage payment booth. I’d suggest coming in to see a lot more than I had time to look at and go in deeper to find the actual books.

At their educator event and love all the prizes and sales! Found some wonderful classroom resources and two of my friends won a nook!

A relic from our distant past containing a tree graveyard and overpriced coffee. Late hours, physical browsability and the instant gratification of buying something on the spot will keep you coming back, but an ok book selection, the virtual marketplace, and just alright prices will keep you guessing how long this fatty corporation can stay afloat. I prefer local bookstores like Elliott Bay, but with B&N going extinct the way it is, I guess you can forgive it for being a part of the corporate money machine and raping us all 20 years ago when books were a thing.

This place is excellent.
It’s located in downtown Seattle, making it accessible for locals and travellers. They have a good selection of travel books on the upper floor — lots of options for Europe and the US. They’ve also got a great slew room of magazines in a range of genres. Their selection of art and design magazines is particularly impressive.
Between the travel guides and the magazines I’ve only checked out the smaller upper floor. Surely the larger bottom floor has plenty else to offer. But surely that speaks to the quality of their selection. They seem to know what to stock here for young and active people.

With the demise of Border’s (and other retailers), Seattle’s bookstore scene has shrunk. Although I don’t find the range of titles of books, music, etc. at B & N appeals to my reading tastes, I am grateful to the fact there is a bookstore at all in downtown Seattle (with the amenities of this store) – this in a city with reputedly legions of people who read.
It is comfortable inside – there seems to be plenty of space to sit down and browse, and there is, naturally, a Starbuck’s. (A little too chainstore, as well). To tell the truth, the space has become almost like that of a public library. So it is serving a common or civic good while operating under a business model.
But the difficulties of competing with amazon must be enormous (I was and am still shocked that the popular B & N in the University Village went under).
The staff, too, is friendly and helpful, in particular, Clarissa, the head of the NOOK section, who has common sense, patience, and intelligence, much like the eponymous heroine of the 18^th century British novel.
Again, having to compete against the like of other e-​book readers as well as Google and Samsung must be quite «something.»
But when you consider that that awful behemoth which goes by the name of «Comcast» thrives in this city, you’d think that Seattle could throw maybe a bone as well to Barnes & Noble, which is selling a product that compares favorably with the popular-​trash-​y 700+ (and still growing) broadcast television channels of Comcast.
One of the smartest things I ever did in my life was to cancel my Comcast cable. I don’t miss it, either. But if B & N were to go under, I know I would miss it.

This Barnes & Noble store is great that it’s set in a prime downtown location. It’s nice and clean but when I walk in there it was just sad that there were not many people in the store at all. This prompts me to think how long this store can remain open given such expensive rent in such a prime location like this. I walked out paying just $ 10 of small things I saw there.
Overall, nice, quiet and clean. Sad to see not so many people in here and reminds me of how sad and quickly brick and mortar stores are going away… particularly book stores.

A CELLAR FULL OF LITERARY ADVENTURES
The downtown Seattle Barnes & Noble is a super bookstore inside Pacific Place Mall. The hilly topography on Seventh Street contributes to a two level book store with two entrances. The upper level entrance is at Seventh and Pine where the lower entrance is at the basement of Pacific Place Mall. The upper level is much smaller than the basement level. The upper level is where the magazines, travel books, maps, and some other genres are merchandised. The majority of the books and action is on the basement level. This level includes the Barnes & Noble icon: the coffee shop featuring Starbuck’s beverages. Both levels include registers.
It is almost guaranteed that I visited Barnes & Noble during my vacation. I see books as mental adventures. My genres of choice are musician and celebrity biographies, city and state history, business history, and travelogues. Mental adventures that bring me on a tour with the Beatles to a construction site on Hoover Dam. Barnes & Nobles are the retail palaces providing these adventures. To me, getting into a mental adventure that I would like to purchase with a Starbucks coffee is an enjoyable activity.
On this visit there was no mental adventure to momentarily take me away from reality. The reality was that this super bookstore was dead at 9 PM., with the majority of the coffee shop tables empty. When I hung out in the same location a few years back, it was overflowing with life. When I see a Barnes & Noble empty like this, it is a cause for alarm. In my adopted city of Las Vegas, just in a couple of years we went from nine to three super bookstores.
The blame has been put on Ebooks. I think Ebooks is part of the problem. I feel that aanother part of the problem super bookstores, like this Barnes & Noble are having is that paperbacks are rediculously overpriced. It seemed that overnight biography paperbacks went from square books sold at $ 6.99 to fancier books sold $ 17.99. These prices are higher than DVDs. In a world where many people want to be entertained with images and audio, paperbacks are collecting dust. If the publishing industry made paperbacks volumes for reading instead of looking fancy, which brings the prices to reasonable levels, I may not have been witnessing the scene that I saw tonight.
I am a fan of Barnes & Noble. It is just disheartening that there are less of them to review.

Baby please don’t go! I feel like this sentence applies to bookstores these days. They all disappear. So glad this one is still here because there is nothing better than a nice cup of overpriced, soothing tea from Teavana and a couple trashy mags for a cold, drizzly day.
Layout: The store is located in the basement of Pacifc Place. It is pretty big with the café on that floor and the magazine or 2^nd level at street level. The magazine sections are all labeled, and they have a great selection.
Where to Hang: I noticed many other reviewers have mentioned security. I also have seen a security guard every time I have visited this location and also workers who replace the magazines. But, as long as you stay at the benches or tables, no one has said anything to me. They used to have two rows of benches by the magazines, but replaced one row with tables. They are wood so expect your butt to hurt after a little while… but maybe this is a technique so you wont stay too long? I’m actually serious. Anyway, sometimes you do end up sharing tables or bench spaces if you are there reading, but I really don’t mind.
There is nothing like catching up on your «credible» celeb gossip with a cup of tea on a yucky day. A perfect afternoon that you can’t get with your Kindle.
