Quaint atmosphere in old Opera House. Decorations include a bar that has tea cup lights and broken china mosaic. Old doors add ambiance as well, but the old building itself sets the stage for small town steaks and prime rib satisfaction.

If you ever find yourself going through Scribner at suppertime, make sure you stop at the Scribner Steakhouse. Hopefully, you will arrive on Friday or Saturday evening(prime rib nights, duh!) and hopefully you have an hour or so to spare. There was an article in the Fremont Tribune highlighting the Scribner Steakhouse this morning, and I mentally filed it away for a future date night. But when I found myself on an impromptu road trip with my guy near Scribner this afternoon, it was suppertime, and it was fate. Oh baby, it was fate. There’s no signage on the building itself but don’t hold it against them. The décor is fresh and crisp. Perfectly white linen tableclothes, napkins, and tons of natural light(if you get there before dark, that is). White paper is set on top of the tablecloths; I noticed children drawing on the paper on a nearby table. The old brick walls are exposed and the doors appear to be originals. The building itself used to be an opera house. The owner is cheerful and energetic; she really made us feel welcome and I could have hung out all night, just taking in the beauty of this place. Our server was very nice and worked hard for her tip; she had 2 very large parties of people, plus several small parties. I was very impressed with her ability to juggle all of those tables on her own. The prices were INCREDIBLY reasonable and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I ordered the standard cut of prime rib(10 ounces) and my boyfriend ordered the king cut(14 ounces) and it did not disappoint! The meat was extremely tender; the au jus was extremely flavorful. I *hate* salty au jus but this was PERFECT. Sides include: salad, potato, veg, and roll. The sides were nothing special(bagged salad, bagged frozen mixed veg) but I am not very picky about restaurants in the«middle of nowhere.» I also happen to LIKE those things so picky foodies may be a bit more critical than me. I ordered hash browns for my potato and they had a great crispy crust on top with softer potatoes underneath. PERFECT hashbrowns, in my opinion.
