Wondering around a lonely Saturday downtown Scranton. Can’t argue with the beer that only cost about a dollar 50. There was a bunch of people at the bar rambling on about the benefits of 8 o’clock coffee. Other than that not much else to report.

I went here last year and liked the bartender, a nice woman who doubles as a school principal. I went back last weekend and the bartender was a surly, miserable man who was blatantly overcharging us a few dollars for every drink. He made no conversation and he was being marginally disrespectful. At one point it was just us and him at the bar and he sat at the other end trying to ignore us. Go here if you want to get disrespected and treated poorly.

Whiskey Dicks will always hold a special place in my heart as my friends and I came here all the time in our slightly crazier days. Since the redid the entrance it is a nicer dive bar but is still most definitely a dive bar. The drinks are always cheap and I think decently strong compared to other bars in the area. It’s a relaxing atmosphere to come and have some drinks with friends without spending a ton. There’s a jukebox and occasionally a dj and the place gets crazy during parade day. While I don’t go out as much as I used to, I’ll still drop in for a drink or two from time to time.

When you walk in the door, the smell will tell you this is a perfect dive bar. Cash only.

Now that I’ve been here a few times, I feel it’s a great time to make a review. Every Friday, $ 3 mini pitchers of PBR. All. Day. Long. How could you go wrong? Friday happy hour is 9pm — 11pm. $ 2 bombs. Unfortunately no jäger bombs. Just flavored vodka. :) Parade Day is CRAZY. Packed, loud music, tons of drunks, and alcohol. How could you go wrong!

I’ve always gone to The Bog or The Backyard Ale House, but this place pleasantly surprised me on a particular weekend night where I didn’t want to go out but was dragged out anyway. I was being a grump and hating on crowded loud atmospheres and a few old friends and I stumbled into this place. It always intrigued me for being a narrow, well designed, personal bar and we ended up having a few delicious affordable drinks and plenty of wonderful nostalgic conversations. I found a $ 100 bill on the floor under my bar stole and turned it in because I knew it was somebody’s fresh Christmas money and the bartender gave me my first drink for free. A great time overall.

The type of bar for somebody who sleeps with their cousin, has one tooth, and a peg leg. So small inside and such a weird crowd when there is one.

Since they put an actual entrance on the front, the bar has gone from two to three stars for me. Its a typical, divey corner bar. Cheap beer, cheap mixed drinks and a hit or miss crowd. They have a jukebox everyday and sometimes have a DJ on weekends. Regulars definitely get preferential treatment, so don’t expect quick service when its busy.
