Ipanema Grille

No wonder this place made it to the list of 10 best restaurants in PA!!! Everything you’ll read here on Unilocal is 100% true and then some. Having experienced brazilian steak houses in Brazil, I can definitely attest that Ipanema Grille lives up to their fame. For all you carnivores out there, rodizio is the way to go. 12 different cuts/​meats impaled on massive scewers will be coming at your table as long as the flipper’s green side is up. If you can’t keep up with their pace, flip it to the red and give yourself some time to digest. Salad bar is phenomenal, definitely try garlic mashed potatoes and brazilian cheese bread (pão de queijo). Sangria and caipirinha should be your drinks of choice. Grilled pineapple rolled in ground cinnamon, served at the very end, should not be skipped! Super nice service, very friendly owner.
The only thing I didn’t like that much is the music. One would expect this place to be bathed in warm sounds of bossa nova by Antonio Carlos Jobim or Sergio Mendes that would bring true Ipanema vibe to your gustatory experience. Instead, they play some weird concert footage of some brazilian gauchos singing folk tunes that doesn’t match the name of the place at all.

Ipanema is truly a dining experience. The food is phenomenal — you MUST do the Rodizio — and the service is usually excellent. Sangria is a wonderful addition to the meal, and the banana caramel crêpe is a truly noteworthy dessert, if you manage to save any room. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys various, flavorful meats especially, but even my vegetarian friends have had great meals here!

The price is certainly worth it! It was such afternoon n experience going here and I will go again. Sangria was excellent and my favorite meats were the peppered roast beef, bacon wrapped turkey, and the garlic sirloin. Absolutely a good place to try at least once. Go on the earlier side so you have time to try everything and make a reservation! Very friendly and helpful staff there.

The rodizio was absolutely incredible. 12 different types of juicy delicious meats brought to your table by a very friendly staff. If I could give it more stars, I absolutely would. The salad bar is great too, but don’t fill up because you have some great meats coming your way.
I’ve paid way more for way less, this is a home run.

Had such an amazing dinner at ipanema grill! Highly recommend getting the rodizio, each kind of meat they brought out was better than the last. The peppered roast beef and filet were my favorites. Save room for the banana crepes and some Brazilian coffee to end your meal.

The meats are all amazing and I’ve been to many Brazilian steakhouses, just wish the place was bigger :(the sangria was awesome I’m sure the other drinks are great to I just never get them bc of the sangria being so fresh and tasty, love to take my wife here anytime we have time for a romantic get away and it’s never a let down.

What an awesome place. My wife and I were the newbies with 5 other people. Never been to anyplace like this. The food was superb, and if you leave hungry, its your own fault. The meat just keeps coming till you tell them to stop. Some of the best beef I have ever had, and the Lamb was fantastic as well. I didn’t eat much at the buffet, but the spicy rice and the black beans were an excellent side dish. The salad bar looked nice and fresh, but for me it was all about the MEAT. The pitchers of Sangria are the perfect thing to wash down all that meat. The pineapple at the end was a pleasant surprise. Wasn’t sure how much I would like warm pineapple with cinnamon on it, but it was an excellent palate cleanser with a pleasant flavor. Service was very friendly, and you don’t feel rushed to hurry up and get out. Very attentive staff, they make you feel welcome. We will definitely be back. Not one bad thing to say

We discovered this place a few weeks ago and could not be anymore impressed! We never experienced Brazilian food and everything was explained to us perfectly. We’ve already been here 4 times and have brought friends with us twice. Service is undeniably outstanding, the food is superb and the sangria is great! I highly recommend eating here.

There’s simply nothing negative to say. Our entire meal and experience was delightful.
Wait staff was polite and attentive, and left is wanting for nothing.
We ordered the Rodizio and started at the buffet table. Honestly, they actually had menu items, but we didn’t really see the point of doing anything else.
Buffet had a reasonable selection of things, knowing the amount of meat that would be coming to our table I only nabbed a few bits and pieces. A roll, some broccoli and asparagus. All or which was delicious.
And then came the meat. We tried a bit of all of it and it was wonderful. My personal favorite was the peppered roast beef, but pretty much every other thing was on the same level.
The attentiveness of the staff ensured we had a steady supply of meat and they made sure we had a chance to sample everything and then asked if there were any particular meats we wanted to have brought back around.
I’ve done this style of dining in larger establishments, and where it’s similar, the smaller venue here ensures that you aren’t ‘lost in the shuffle’ and you’re able to get the meats you want in good time.

I read many positive reviews and so I went there.
We had Rodizio.
The salad bar is very good (and it is included in the high price).
About the meat, I was not satisfied. Some of the things they served us were ok, but about other things… seemed like they had cooked meat that was already cooked…
Maybe I should try it another time, but the time we went there we were not satisfied at all.

Delicioso. As soon as you pull into the parking lot, you can smell the divine meats cooking and your mouth instantly starts watering. Came here with some friends for the meat extravaganza and we were all put into a blissful meat coma when we left. The sides are good, pretty authentic I think, I recommend the palm hearts and fried banana. The caipirinha is really good, the wait staff is friendly and beautiful, and the place is small compared to the chain Brazilian steakhouses, which is nice. Over all, we had a great time and a great meal here, can’t wait to go back.

Amazing food and staff. The all you can eat buffet was outstanding. It’s about $ 37 but for the amount of food you get as well as the quality of every meat you are served, I believe that is an extreme fair price. The delicious pineapple that follows your meal is delicious. We will definitely be returning

Delicious. Parmesan flank steak superb, top sirloin great. Very impressive food for Scranton! Staff extremely nice. Buffet could be bigger, but good enough. The meats make this place, come hungry.

I guess I’m spoiled from big fancy chain Brazilian steakhouses, but that doesn’t mean Ipanema isn’t great. We went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar because it was that packed, I’ve never seen so many cars in that small parking lot before and I was born and raised in Scranton. A very small, but intimate, interior, it’s definitely not the hole in the wall it looks like from outside.
The meat selections were all top notch (except the chicken hearts… I’ve never seen that one before), but I have to admit I was disappointed when the lamb I waited for all night had so much rosemary I couldn’t even begin to taste anything else. The salad bar is much smaller than most other Brazilian steakhouses with less options, but instead it includes the mashed potatoes and Pao de Queijo that most steakhouses only give a little bit of. So props to you, Ipanema, those little cheesy balls are heaven.

Was here 7 years ago. Came back in 2015 and just as good. Get the rodizio if your going to go here. It’s hard to pick one meat as the best, they’re all excellent. Great service and hospitality. The chicken hearts sound bizarre but you have to try it. Make sure to make a reservation unless you don’t mind sitting at the bar.

we went for dinner there. everyone goes RODIZIO. I have very little stomach, not until 1 round, I am full. Must go with empty stomach. Love their steak/​lamp and chicken hearts. After all meat, at last a beautiful waitress will bring cinnamon pinappple on the skewer as a desert.

Only place around that can take your breath away with style, service, sangria, and RODIZIO!!! If you have only one night in area or only one chance to impress look no further.
Must order the sangria and don’t even try ask for recipe because the no you receive will disappoint. Also just do yourself a favor and order the RODIZIO and leave the tumbler on green until you can’t take any more because it is all that good!!!
This is a must try … And I must try A lot!!!

I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars. Went here with three of my closest friends during our «guys’ vacation» this week. We all loved it. A real mom and pop establishment, which is a rare treat for this type of restaurant. We’ve all been to many such places in NYC, Boston, Philadelphia and elsewhere, and we all agreed the food was as good as at any of those places. The wait-​staff were really friendly and genuine, despite what has to be a really tough job. I would highly recommend the Rodizio and the authentic Portuguese drinks. I would definitely go back.

Went here twice. Both times were EXCEPTIONAL.
I got the Rodizio on both occasions which included a nice salad and appetizer bar. I believe it was around 33 – 36 dollars but it allowed me to try a large number of different meats/​steaks (all you can eat). I highly recommend trying this if you go here.
The service was as good as it gets. It is quite difficult to leave this place without a smile on your face and a full stomach!
It isn’t exactly inviting from the outside but it takes nothing away from the wonderful ambience inside.
