Tara Brodkin, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Brodkin’s for quite some time and just had her deliver my first baby. Dr. Brodkin is an amazing ob-​gyn and I would definitely recommend her to ANYBODY looking for an ob-​gyn. Dr. Brodkin makes you feel like an individual person instead of just another patient in a busy office. I can be a very difficult person with a million questions and concerns about every little detail. Dr. Brodkin always took the time to answer every little question I had and every concern. She thoroughly explains everything in terms I can understand and she always listens to my concerns (no matter how silly). She is such a kind and compassionate person and it shows in the way she handles her patients. She is a very skilled Doctor. I am so grateful that she was my doctor throughout my pregnancy and that she delivered my first child. She was willing to work with what I wanted and was very comforting to me when I had complications during childbirth. She delivered my baby and he is healthy, I have Dr. Brodkin to thank for my healthy baby boy. I often hear other people’s stories about difficulties with their doctors throughout pregnancy and people feeling like they aren’t heard or their doctors don’t really care about them or they are confused about something during their pregnancy; that is never the case with Dr. Brodkin. If you’re looking for a doctor on your ‘team’ throughout pregnancy or you need just basic ob-​gyn care, Dr. Brodkin is the best there is.

I love Tara Brodkin. She is kind and personable and makes you feel very comfortable. Tara is thorough and makes you feel like you are a real priority. I highly recommend Dr. Brodkin to anyone is search of a GREAT OBGYN!

I had a great experience here this week. Christina at the desk is wonderful and efficient! The MA (I forgot her name) was also nice. I saw Wendy the NP for the first time and she was great! (Being a nurse myself, I’m picky!). :) She was thorough and pleasant, answered all of my questions and didn’t make me feel rushed. She was positive and I would go back to her anytime. I like the thoroughness of the office too… they refer you for your yearly mammogram and also will schedule for a pelvic ultrasound to be sure no signs of ovarian or uterine cancer. Great preventative care. I look forward to seeing Dr. Brodkin for my (hopeful) pregnancy, as she was one of my docs when she was new back in 2002 and was wonderful. The office is lovely as well. No complaints!

I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Brodkin. She is the best! You immediately feel her care and concern for you as her patient. She walked me through everything and took great care when delivering each of my children. After poor experiences with other doctors I now have girlfriends that see her and love her as well!

I am obsessed with Dr. Brodkin. OBSESSED. I found her through my provider directory, and she’s about a 35 minute drive from my house. So I was rolling the dice, and hoping I picked someone good… She’s better than good!
She has a wonderful personality, and a great sense of humor, but still professional. So if you’re kind of a stick in the mud, you might not be a good fit.
She is extremely knowledgable, doesn’t beat around the bush, and will give you all of the facts, no matter what your situation might be. I didn’t have the easiest pregnancy, and she always kept my mind at ease.
The front office girls are equally as wonderful, as well as the ultra sound tech, and Wendy the nurse practitioner. I was always excited for my appointments, even the follow ups.
The delivery of my son was a wonderful experience, I healed so nicely. She knows what she is doing. I will recommend her to everyone for any lady/​baby needs. I’ll drive the distance to see her. Definitely my OBGYN for life.

I did a lot of research before I decided to see Dr. Brodkin for the birth of our first child and she really is the best! I had some scary moments and concerns with my pregnancy and she was always there and would listen as well as ease my fears. It was important for me to have a doctor that would take the time and listen and be there for me. Its very uncommon to find that these days and I was very happy that I found that with Dr. Brodkin. We love that we have a doctor we trust and love to see when it comes to expanding our family more in the future and I have now decided to switch there for all my Obgyn needs. In addition the front office staff was really great and friendly as well as the nurse Anna and we loved the ultrasound tech she is the best too. Everyone was always very welcoming and got to know me!

Please note that I never had the opportunity to meet Dr. Brodkin, as her Scottsdale office staff and nurse practitioner, Wendy, ruined the experience. I went in for my first prenatal appointment, for my very first pregnancy, hoping to have a joyful experience with this exciting new chapter. The front desk staff was very rude and short with me, only concerned about how quickly they could get my insurance information. The ultrasound tech took me back, told me to undress, sit down and then immediately began the transvaginal ultrasound without speaking to me. She had the screen pointed to her the whole time, I asked if I could see the screen and she said «when I am done.» She finally turned the screen to me, let me see my baby for maybe 15 seconds, printed four pictures, handed them to me, said get dressed and wait in the hallway. I then had to wait about 15 minutes to see the nurse practitioner, Wendy, who didn’t ask me a single prenatal question, about how I was feeling or ask me if I had any questions. All she wanted to know is when my last pap smear was done, then told me I had to come back in two weeks for a pap since it had been 14 months since my last one. Wendy never offered for me to ask a question, but I asked her a couple anyways. My first one was about my weight, as I know I am overweight. I asked what a healthy weight gain is with my current weight, and she said, without any exaggeration, «You probably shouldn’t gain a pound. In fact, you might want to diet. And make sure to eliminate all carbs.» I then asked her what is a safe heart rate for me when working out, in which she told me that everyone has a different opinion, yet wouldn’t give me an answer/​number. My experience was horrible and I felt like a payment to this office. They wanted to get me in and out as quickly as possible and they had zero bedside manner. When I went to the front desk to inform them that I was not happy and would not be returning, the receptionist didn’t even ask why or apologize for my poor experience, she instead said, «well have whoever you go to contact us for your paperwork.» Please do not go to this office. I really hope that Dr. Brodkin finds a new staff because she is losing patients because of this rude staff. I would never recommend this place and will be sure to tell every woman I know to avoid this place at all costs.

Don’t waste your time going here. I called to make an appointment with Dr. Brodkin and her next appointment for a new patient wasn’t for two weeks, I took it and was willing to wait. They call you a few days before your appointment and tell you to fill out their online paperwork prior so that you will not be delayed, the receptionist stresses that if you don’t fill it out, you will be delayed. I took the time and filled it out right away, and submitted it online 2 days before my appointment. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment. The receptionist wasn’t very inviting or friendly. When I was taken back to the room, I was left waiting for over an hour. This was after I had disrobed. After an hour and 15 minutes, I was finally so frustrated that I got dressed and told the receptionist I couldn’t wait any longer. She didn’t apologize, but just said «oh, and what did you need to be seen for?». She asked this in front of other patients looking at me, and I felt like my privacy was not being respected as I had to tell her why I was there in front of other patients. The medical assistant came over and said she was sorry and said I could see a Nurse Practitioner instead of the doctor. My whole intent was to see the doctor, not a Nurse Practitioner, as I was a new patient and my appointment was with the doctor. I advised the medical assistant I couldn’t wait any longer, and the whole reason for my appointment was to talk to the doctor. At this time, the doctor came out and said I would be seen next if I could wait in the room. At this point I was already too frustrated and upset to continue with any service from this doctor. It was obvious they are used to being way behind with their patients by how they handled my situation. I requested a refund of my co-​pay, and I left feeling very upset that I wasted my time. I had to find child care so I could come to this appointment. Also I have to find a new doctor now, after waiting two weeks to see Dr. Brodkin. This was a horrible experience, and no patient should have to be put through this.

I am so grateful that I gave this place a shot! I reviewed the location before making my first appointment and couldn’t agree more with every one of the satisfied women. I would NOT recommend to visit the phoenix location as the atmosphere is uninviting and the staff is very unprofessional, however the Scottsdale girls ROCK! They are patient, very kind and extremely efficient. They have a really nice office too. Erin is great, Wendy is amazing and there is another nurse who I can’t remember her name but she has only been there for a few weeks and she is phenomenal. I am so lucky I found this place and will never go anywhere else!

Dr Brodkin is amazing and made my pregnancy and delivery a wonderful experience. She is kind and personable and thorough. Her office is a pleasure to work with.

This was the first time I’ve been to a gyno so I was a little nervous but Tara Brodkin made me feel so comfortable & she was so nice & caring! She answered all my questions and I felt good and educated about everything after I left. The front desk was so nice too. The wait was 20 minutes so not too bad & the waiting room and inside was cute! I would definitely recommend her.

It might seem that a 72 year old woman might not STILL be troubled with hot flashes. However, it was this major complaint that brought me to Dr. Tara Brodkin’s office for my initial visit. Dr. Brodkin never minimized my symptoms but rather had empathy and compassion for my discomfort and frustration. I felt valued as a person not a symptom. Her personal sense of well being made conversation free and often humorous. I felt relaxed enough to tell her all my concerns. Physical exam done tenderly with history and documentation thorough and comprehensive. Direct script to pharmacies an added convenience. Staff were attentive and friendly. I highly recommend her!

I am been seeing Dr. Tara Brodkin for 12+ years, since my OB/​GYN Dr. retired! She was recommended to me by a friend of mine who spoke volumes of her incredible personal skills both as a professional and personally. Dr. Brodin takes the time to ask about me, my family and extended family along with asking if there are any questions I may have about the ever changing woman’s body. She listens, we laugh, she advises and cares! She is totally honest with you and listens to you!
I am referring her to my daughter who due to OBAMACare needs to find another OB/​GYN and I have total faith in Dr. Brodkin and her awesome interpersonal skills, ability to understand where you are in life and care for all of it while being so professional.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Brodkin for about 11 years! She is Amazing, I’ve had many problems. I’ve tried so many OB’s in the arrowhead area and no one could figure what was wrong with me. I co-​worker told me about her, her daughter had been seeing Dr. B for a few years. I took the chance and had the best experience ever. Dr. B was the only one who can figure out what was wrong with me! She is amazing and I recommend her to anyone. I am now pregnant but have moved from phx, I so wish I could take Dr. B with me! I’m so sad she won’t be able to deliver my first baby! Yes the wait to see her lid long but worth it. I would drive 40min just to see her, I would drive two hours! She knows her stuff!
Office isn’t that clean (my opinion) the seating smells-​they need to all be replaced! The front desk Christina is amazing everyone else I don’t care so much for! The girl who makes the appointments has a bit of an attitude, she miss leads you-​for exp: I asked can I just see Dr. B, not Wendy, she tells me yes I will only see Dr. B… well she never made my appointment to just see Dr. B. She did it to me THREE times, by the third time I was upset and she decided it was ok to yell at me and give me an attitude, she a little trashy! I would see Wendy for my OB check ups, not crazy about her, I feel she is a little stuck up and rude at times.
Dr. Brodkin is a great caring doctor!

Dr Brodkin is VERY friendly and caring but expect a wait at the office. For every one of my appointment I have waited 45 minutes to well over an hour. The office apologizes each time but have continued to disrespect my time because I still have to wait. I understand being busy but maybe the office should reevaluate their scheduling procedures. Makes me wonder if Dr Brodkin will be late when I am in labor. It may be time to find a more prompt office. If I could take Dr. Brodkin with me I would! 5 stars for Dr. Brodkin but 1 star for the office scheduling department.

I don’t want to speculate that the other ladies in here are either friends or family of dr brodkin but that would be my only explanation for these reviews. Let me tell you my horror history in this office. I went to doctor brodkin because I saw these reviews and expected t he best. This is my first pregnancy and Dr brodkin and her staff have been the least caring or competent. I’ve had 3 appointments at this office and only saw the doctor ONCE. She will send you her PA to see you and perform the Pap smear and pelvic exams. Also make sure you have pleeeeenty of time for their HOUR long wait. They will bring you in and have you wait an HOUR to see you. The last appointment I had was for a colposcopy where I finally met dr brodkin. She took an hour to see us (no surprise) and came in the room with a horrible attitude, again this is the first time I ever saw the doctor, because my husband asked twice when were we going to be helped. She made the colposcopy so painful and was extremely mean about me moving and not letting her finish her job. I wanted to cry the whole time! I did end up fainting at the end of the procedure and she LEFT THE ROOM to bring her nurses in. She didn’t say anything about my baby or listened to baby’s heartbeat or nothing!!! I trusted this office with my first pregnancy but haven’t seen or heard my baby in over a month!!! She’s mean disrespectful of your time and careless about you or your baby. I’m gonna give her the benefit of the doubt and think she may be better as a gyno only, don’t trust her with your pregnancy I’ve had a horrifying experience with this people and I wouldn’t even recommend «doctor» brodkin to my worst enemy. I’m desperate to hear my baby and will find a different doctor ASAP. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Waited for over three hours past my appointment, then 45 min in the Dr. office. I came to see Dr. Brodkin because of the reviews, however she could not examine me because she was too busy. The front desk person was nice. But the nurse practitioner who did my exam was quite catty. She was short with me and was really annoyed with my questions. Oh well, there are many more baby doc in the valley!

If I could give zero stars, that would be my choice. After waiting for over an hour past my appointment time, and not seeing a health care professional, nor being notified that they were running this late, I left the office, apparently unnoticed.
This is rude, unconscionable (non) service, to which no one should be subjected.

Wow! I have been to several OB practices here in Scottsdale and sad to say, have not been very impressed with any of them (usually over worked doctors and poorly runned or staff issues). What I usually experince is grumpy front office staff. Could never figure that out! Seems like it would be a great job to have, beats digging ditches or working at Walmart! This place is wonderful! The front desk staff was nice, friendly and professional (front desk person Christina was a real stand out) She was really professional on top of things and bonus? Really nice! Dr. B’s medical assistant was great too.
The doctor, Tara Brodkin, MD was amazing. Professional and had a WONDERFUL bed side manner. So happy to have found this practice. Wish I had known of this practice when I delivered my son five years ago! Best part, my insurance is covered by them! Highly recommended! Keep up the good quality service and good, friendly attitudes at your practice! Being a good doctor is one thing, but keeping your staff professional and with nice attitudes towards patients can be the real challenge! This practice is run very well from what I experienced!

Dr. Brodkin is the BEST… and don’t you deserve the BEST!!!
She is concerned for your well being as a patient and willing to find the answers to your questions.
