The employees at this ACE are great. They take their time to answer your questions. They give great advice. Highly recommend!

I just walked out of this establishment after waiting almost 15 minutes for someone to come help me. I was looking for a chain for a dog tag and no less than two employees walk by or away when I inquired for help. One informed me that someone would be with me in a few moments but after 5 I decided to walk out. I think I would rather be ignored at the big stores such as Home Depot or Lowe’s at least I can bring my dog there and wander around. I used to believe that shopping at the independently owned stores such as this was a benefit but I come to realize the more I go into this store which is just a mile from my home and convenient, the less I feel like patronizing them.

This store has good curb appeal and is reasonably well stocked and merchandised. Just expect to do it yourself and don’t hope for any service or knowledge sharing. In the end, I still go back due to convenience.

Spent $ 175 on Dunn Edwards Everest paint here. Long story short, their paint machine was calibrated improperly and the color was way off. Apparently the problem was that it did not add any yellow at all. Went back and they tried to fix it by adding color. Obviously that did not work and the color is still not right. Wasted many hours because of this, and they never once offered to compensate for their mistake. Threw everything instead of having to deal with them again. Buyer beware. Edit– Changed to 5 stars because they called to apologize and I realized this was probably an honest mistake. No hard feelings.

This place doesn’t have everything, but the customer service is excellent. I’ve been in here at least a dozen times and always get asked if I need help finding something. The staff are very knowledgeable and know their inventory.

This store is unbelievably fun to shop in! The employees are always willing to help, and if they aren’t sure where an item is located, they will ask another team member and help you find whatever you’re looking for! This is a small family owned business, and the owners are always in the store and are even working out on the floor assisting customers; that is when you know it is a true family-run business. They are always smiling and I’ve talked with the owner a few times, and he is a very down-to-earth guy. He genuinely wants to know what he can do to better the store, and he listens to suggestions and comments. I have come into this ace many many times and will continue to do so. Their paint counter associates actually know what they’re doing, and are willing to help you find the right color and sheen, no matter how long it takes. I have painted 4 rooms in my house with paint from here, and I love every single color I have purchased. They first mixed me a sample size, and once I tried it on the wall, I went back for the full-size. Their prices are very competitive and fair, and I am lucky to have found this store in North Scottsdale! Keep up the great work:)

This is my edited review. Why? because before the virtual ink dried on my post regarding my dissatisfaction with the time and cost of screen repairs, I was called by the owner who addressed my concerns and I will have my screens tomorrow. The owner was not even aware of my Unilocal review so I can only surmise that in the normal course of managing her business, she was made aware of my phone call and disappointment and acted to correct the problem. Robin — well done, you.

It so nice to have a sore that you can go and get help in a second, without having to walk aisle after aisle. I went in there with a broken rubber band for my horse exerciser and said«I need this». In no time I had the part and was out out there. This is not the first time I go to this ACE, every time I have been there it’s the same. Great job guys!

I had a piece of threaded PVC that wouldn’t come loose so I asked the helpful hardware man what to do. He sold me a $ 28 strap wrench to do the trick. I should have smelled a rat when it was non refundable. Got home and it was a worthless piece of sh! t, not holding a grip. I called the store and they held true to form by not giving a sht. That is what earns them a one star review, no «sorry», no offer of help, just a «so long sucker!» Caveat emptor!

«Exemplary service that you thought no longer existed» is one of Pinnacle Peak Ace Hardware’s standards of service. They were true to their word today. I walked in with a part for my screen door in hand, the gentleman that greeted me asked if he could help me find something, I showed him the part and he said«I have that right back here,» and then turned and retrieved the part for me. A few minutes later I was on my way back home to fix the door. It took longer to checkout(someone ahead of me with a return) and to get there and back than it did to find the part! What more could you ask for? Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man!

Super duper helpful folks! And close to the house. Who needs the depot? Not I.

The days of your local hardware store may be disappearing but this gem still remains in North Scottsdale. I’m sure they’re probably a little more expensive then HD or Lowes but the service and experience of going to a mom and pop type shop is awesome. It reminds me of my younger years before big box retailers took over.

Checkout girl not trained well. Clerks tried to help, but lacked some knowledge. Overall nice folks giving their best.

It’s great to have a local ACE hardware store much closer to where I live in Pinnacle Peak than Home Depot or Lowe’s. I’ll stop by if I just need a few items or forgot something. The sales help is friendly and usually knowledgeable… unlike the big boxes. OK… once or twice they’ve trailed me down the aisles… probably to help answer questions… but I almost felt like I should promise not to make off with any extra nuts or bolts! I’m glad to support a local, independent store and pay for the convenience… but the prices they need to charge do add up quickly (OK… reasonable but usually high if not on sale). If I need a shopping cart of items, the extra trip to Home Depot/Lowe’s more than pays for the gas(even closing in on $ 4/GAL)!

I work in the area and few times needed to get something for a pressing home need. These folks have always been friendly and very helpful and their prices aren’t bad, either. Did I mention friendly & helpful?

Imagine my surprise and horror when I learned that the pretty green lawn that I had so patiently cared for during the baking summer was going to take a winter vacation and turn brown. Dormant?! What the heck is that? Didn’t I treat you right? Didn’t I bake out in the hot sun tending to your needs? And to repay my efforts you will turn brown and icky?! Apparently here in AZ you need«winter grass». Huh? Unable to accept months of brown desolation in the back yard I headed off to Ace to see what I could do. No gardener for me! I am going to Do This Myself! This Ace location is great. Not too big, but not too small either and staffed by employees who are happy to help. Instead of being left to wander aimlessly, I was greeted at the door and escorted(not pointed to, or aimed at, but escorted!) directly to what I needed. Michael was extremely helpful in explaining the(foreign to me!) process for prepping for and planting winter grass. His recommendations were exactly what I was looking for and he didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need. He even carried everything to the register and loaded the bags of seed and compost into my car for me. Thanks! Now, let’s just cross our fingers that I will have the greener grass this winter on MY side of the fence…
