Nice overall. Coming from another city but being in Scotts Valley for a few months has forced me to shop here and there’s not much of a big meat selection. Wish there was more of a deli/meat counter. Good customer service. Starbucks located inside the store, but no table or chairs. Also have sushi freshly made everyday.

I’m always so disappointed when I go in this store. Customer service sucks! Most of the employees are rude, slow, and look like they don’t like their jobs. I have never seen a bunch of miserable looking people all in one place like I see at this Safeway. Prices are higher then at other stores. I stopped shopping there on a regular basis and the few times I have given them I try I have been disappointed.

Clean, well stocked, friendly workers. What more can I say?

Shame on me for not learning faster. Twice now I’ve had well over $ 100.00 in my cart and stood in line so long that the ice cream got soft. So twice now I’ve just pushed my full cart down an aisle and left the store. I know I’m not the only person to have done this or something similar. It amazes me that in this day and age a large corporation continues to make poor business decisions. If there are two check stands with over ten people in each line maybe you need more checkers. This is an every weekend and some weekdays occurrence. Pitiful management where it is obvious they are more focused on tripping over dollars to pick up dimes. You can continue your poor inventory management and customer service and keep waiting for the Town Center property to become available but it still won’t fix your fundamentally flawed management at this store. Also you may want to think about shifting the delivery hours from your Safeway truck that jacks up traffic every day for the evening commute on southbound 17.

Horrible. 15 people in line no other checkers. Understaffed as usual. I guess more employees would mean more benefits for people so they probably keep me at 25 an hour. I would literally pay more for better service.

Don’t get the doughnuts. There are regularly flies inside the doughnut case. There is regularly a whole swarm of flies in front of the bakery. So I avoid the bakery. As for their other items, selection is okay. They have most items I would want. I’ve tried their ground beef and chicken breasts and they are fine. Lines are usually long and time consuming, but that’s to be expected. I have gotten fruit there and it was fine. There are a few employees here who really make me smile when I come here. They are really friendly and funny. So that’s one good quality of this safeway. But they REALLY need to do something about their disgusting bug-infested bakery.

Ordinarily I’m OK with this Safeway. The two stars are for the friendly employees, especially clerks Buddy and George. My low review is for the substandard customer service department after my last shopping trip. I purchased a birthday card, and when I put my groceries away, I realized the card had not made it into any of my bags. I called immediately, and was told the card was at the customer service counter. The pip squeak I was talking to didn’t offer an apology, or the least amount of empathy when I said it was a bummer I would have to make a 7 mile round trip to get it. No biggie… just a lack of training, and common sense, me thinks. The following day I went it to get the card. After standing at the customer service counter for a few minutes, I turned to one of the cashiers and asked if he would page someone for me. He did, and still, no one came. Finally, the uninterested customer service woman sauntered up. I explained I had called and she said that if not picked up the same day, the item was returned to the shelf. Even though she had opened a book, and I saw the hand written notice of the card having been left there, she asked for my receipt, which I didn’t have. What a douche. I was the one inconvenienced due to one of their«courtesy» clerks screwing up, and she acted put out at having been called out to her station. No” I’m sorry”. No, «we’ll remind our employees to make sure everything purchased gets put into a bag». No common courtesy, or professionalism. The moral of the story is not to assume your courtesy clerk will do his job, and avoid needing customer service at all costs!

I was disappointed at the way this Safeway promotes plastic bag use. Their checkers do not ask customers if they prefer paper or plastic bags. They simply load up the customers with plastic bags. This is a coastal town in a Marine Sanctuary. I understand that the idiot Scotts Valley city Council refuses to go along with plastic bag bans, as the rest of Santa Cruz County does. But they can still ask their customers«paper or plastic». They are totally promoting the plastic.

Slowest checkers on the planet work the swing shift. Unless you are as stoned as they are your shopping experience may be frustrating.

Shopping here is an incredibly unpleasant experience. Every once in a while I stop in to quickly grab something and promptly wish I hadn’t. The employees look miserable and so does the food for sale. Nob Hill or SV Market are the better choice.

This Safeway is always crowded, long lines, narrow isles, no self-checkout and the selection of food is far below your average Safeway.

This location has the grumpiest staff I’ve ever seen. Today was the final straw, I’m sticking with Nob Hill from now on.

Better than the one on Felton, but not by much … They sometimes have what I wasn’t on stock but since there is another store across the street, it makes it easy to avoid here.

Excellent customer service(Blair, Jack, & Molly especially)! Usually stocked, decent produce, wide selection. Huge parking lot with private security, feels safe. They usually run out of French bread mid day and never increase the order to fix this problem, they charge for grocery bags, and the building is due for some updates.

Well I love this Safeway considering you don’t have to pay for paper bags. That’s a plus. I found it pretty funny, my husband went and picked up some already buttered French bread with supposed to be Parmesan cheese on top, I opened it and was getting ready to warm it up and there seemed to be a cheddar cheese. Really bakery? Lol

I was disappointed with their selection of gluten free products, the basically have a tiny end unit with a couple not so great options. Gluten free is already pricey and Safeway is by far the most expensive. Nob Hill as way more options, when it comes to gluten free and for a better price. Their staff has always been helpful and nice, but they always seems to be understaffed and I end up waiting in line to check out sometime 10−15mins in the express line, mind you. Perks, Starbucks and Redbox inside.

Going to this Safeway during the day is an entirely different experience than at night. The usual day shift workers are usually friendly, chatty, and seem happy to be of help… at night… the last time I made a late night run to pick up a few items, I waited an eternity at the check-out line(okay, understandable, I guess, less workers at night, I get it…)…when the cashier finally arrived it seemed as though he was totally put out by me… there was no eye contact, no stupid(yet polite and somewhat expected?) small talk, just rung me up, bagged my groceries, turned around and left… creepy. I was creeped out. Another time about a year or so ago I had the pleasure of eavesdropping on two irate stock-boys complaining about how much they despised their jobs. One of them was yelling angrily at the other about some injustice that so-and-so was responsible for… or something. In front of me, a customer. That was in the morning. That didn’t bother me so much as entertain, but to be on the job, not exactly what I’d consider good form.

Long lines, not enough checkers, shelves aren’t stocked regularly. We used to shop here every week, but we had to bag our own groceries and no help to the car. Safeway currently won’t donate to the local schools if you pay with a credit card, so we don’t do our shopping here anymore. Too bad, because we used to enjoy their bakery, floral dept and club card specials.

I braved coming here on thanksgiving eve because someone(not me) forgot a very important ingredient for our holiday dinner. The parking lot wasn’t packed. After making my way past the church group handing out fliers, I was welcome by a brightly lit and very well stocked store. I grabbed a few things I didn’t really need and after a bit of searching, gave up on what I really came for. As I was standing in line a nice employee asked if I found everything and went and grabbed what I hadn’t been able to find! I couldn’t find it, but there was a nice gluten free selection and they even had the Mac n cheese my brother likes! Quick check out, and I was headed back to the in laws. And — now my mum in law knows where to find cool stuff for me to eat!

My favorie thing about this business, by far, are the employees. Everyone from the cashiers to the produce people are super friendly and helpful. I’m a regular and have several cashiers who know me by name that my husband refers to as my «peeps.» The shelves are always well stocked. Produce is fresh and there is a good variety. Nice meat selection. The store is clean. Parking is plentiful. What more could you want in a grocery store?
