so sad this place closed … I’ll miss homemade potato chips and fried pickles.

Very disappointing. Stopped by when I was way hungry on a weekday afternoon. I’m easy to please when I’m really hungry. No pleasing me this time. First, they had to turn on the lights so I could see the menu. Then, the guy at the register seemed like he didn’t know the register or the menu. Then, even though there’s lots of credit card stickers on the register, there was a handwritten«cash only» sign. Fortunately(or maybe not in hindsight), I had some cash. Then, I had to walk back to the register to ask for a cup after walking to the soda fountain(interrupting the next guy to order that didn’t have cash). I was handed a small cup most places give you for water. Then, I was asked what type of bread I wanted after I sat down. So, after making my selection at the dimly lit condiment table, I’m not sure what came out of the«pub mustard/spicy» bottle onto my polish, but it was really runny and sweet. After I consumed my polish and a somewhat sticky bun, I hightailed it outa there promising myself never to return.

CLOSED. Never been here so the one star rating means nothing. Driving by the other day I noticed a for sale sign in the window. Seems they have given up.

Great service and good food, glad there is a place in Scotts Valley like this.

First & last time here. I was seriously underwhelmed. Not really any flavor to my «classic» dog. I ordered 2 hot dogs, 2 drinks & got one bag of chips(thick and chewy, I like crispy) total $ 18& change. That’s too pricey for my budget, I felt ripped off.

I’ve only gone here once, about a month ago. I was excited about it, but was disappointed to find that they did not have chili fries. I just assumed they would have some. I hesitantly ordered the chili cheese chips. They were pretty dang good; granted, I had low expectations. I still enjoyed them a lot. I ordered a simple hot dog and put ketchup and mustard on it. It was pretty good. I loved the sesame bun. My boyfriend ordered some weird hot dog with a bunch of stuff on it. He liked it. I don’t think he was as satisfied as me, but we both enjoyed the food and I look forward to going there again. I want to try the chili cheese chips again! Yummmm.

I’d like to see this place take off, but it just doesn’t seem to have acquired critical mass. Our second visit there yesterday was a lackluster experience: * Ownership appears to have changed. They’re still learning the ropes. The debit/credit card reader has ‘em stumped. * Luckily the place wasn’t busy, because space is CRAMPED. * I ordered the same thing I had during our last trip here — kobe dog + Chi dog. All the same ingredients were there, but they were served LUKEWARM. Pleh! If you’re a complete hot dog aficionado you might see something in the $ 5+ hot dogs here that I didn’t. But frankly(no pun intended) I find the Costco hot dog experience to be a much better value.

The smoked vegan dog is by far the best veggie dog I have ever had, and I have tried a lot since I became a vegetarian a year ago. I recommend it Mediterranean style. The service was friendly too.

Awesome vegan dogs. A little pricey. They could use some better help at the front counter since the change in ownership.

Ok. Huge drop. Why? Came all the way over from San Jose for a coastal hike and a Chi Dog, and the guy at the counter didn’t even know how to use the debit card reader at the register. After trying 4 times, and straining to figure it out, he asks if I have any cash. Mind you, the machine worked. He even said«I don’t know how to use this thing». Gee thanks. I left, and two other customers in line did too. I will try again eventually, but this really made me mad when I was looking forward to this all day long.

I work down the street and eat here often. There is always good food and friendly service. The prices are fair and the house made chips are amazing! I recommend to customers frequently and no one is disappointed!

Sitting in the room, the place is absolutely dead. Which was good, since I didn’t wait too long for my dogs. I ordered the TJ, which I thought would be comparable to an LA street dog. It had bacon which sounded awesome, but it was bacon bits instead. would have liked it wrapped in bacon. Over all it was tasty, and has a lot of toppings. I usually am a two dog kinda person so I added a small bite, which seems affordable. Threw on some yellow mustard, and that was good in its simplicity. Over all, its a so-so experience with hot dogs, but I’ve had better at other places. Recently went to Pauleys franks and fries in San Jose, if I worked there id eat at that spot on the regular! Service is top notch, I guess you would need to if you are a small business. Good to come here once in a while if you’re tired of the same ol places in Scotts Valley, with all the fast food choices, this is a great alternative to burgers and pizza places as well as the Chinese Restaurants locally.

I went back a second time to give a more thorough review. The owner is super friendly. Customer service remains very high. Docked one star for the worn décor, but don’t let this stop you from enjoying a good ol’ fashioned dog.

Pretty good dogs here(I like the smoked Brat), and a friendly staff. They are nice to your dog friends too since there is some outdoor seating and if you are lucky you might get some extra meat for your pooch. They also have ice tea with lemon for a drink option, I like that :)

EXCELLENT place to eat! As a longtime patron of Capitol Dawg in Sacramento, I will go to any lengths necessary to find myself a good veggie dog. Even if that means taking a day trip to Santa Cruz! I did some research on finding a good place to eat while we were in the area. Besides the«smoked hickory vegan dog» on their menu, there was one specific food item that jumped out at me. That item was the jack & bleu cheese sticks. I mean I like cheese, a lot. Especially bleu cheese. And really now, how often do you find fried cheese that isn’t mozzarella? These things were amazing, different, and most importantly delicious! They are savory and hearty as you would expect from bleu cheese, but also very soft and easy to gulf down several of these in one sitting. I went with a standard smoked hickory veggie dog, and opted to add cheese on it. Besides that I wanted to take advantage of the many different free condiments, which is a nice touch. The dog was great! It had a good snap, was a nice, good big size, and definitely had that smoked flavor. Probably the best veggie dog I have ever had(I have had three different ones in my life). My lady went with a classic brat, also with cheese. She really enjoyed it and specifically said their sauerkraut was spot on. We ordered the appetizer sampler plate, which was three of the cheese sticks, three fried pickle spears, and a good sized helping on their homemade chips, in ranch flavor of course. The pickles were good, nice and hot. The chips were a really nice touch and I am glad they are doing these fresh. The ranch flavoring was subtle enough to not be overwhelming, but we could still get the taste from it. The lady working at the time was super friendly, helped answer our questions about the menu, and was just overall very nice. That is a GREAT touch, as hospitality is a huge factor in a successful business. She got us signed up for their frequent visitor’s card(I will take any excuse I can to go back!), and just generally seemed to be happy to promote this business. OHANDTHEYSELLBEER!!!

Walked over while getting my bike worked on at Ted’s Beemershop to find two very friendly ladies behind the counter of a nice casual hot dog shop. I had the smoked brat and it was pretty good. The standard toppings were fresh and it was a satisfying lunch. I only take issue with the price. For a simple brat in a bun, $ 5.50 is what I’d expect to pay at AT&T Park, not at a restaurant. Even Five Guys, a chain fast food type place that serves dogs, still only charges $ 3.79. For $ 5.50 I’d expect something more exquisite than just a brat in a bun. The potato chips on the other hand were well worth the cost. I’m not a fan of potato chips in general and you’ll never find me eating them out of a bag. I decided to give these fresh ones a shot and they were fantastic. Still soft on the inside, yet crisp enough to remember they’re still chips, plus a nice light coating of seasoning that doesn’t overpower the taste. I had the ranch flavor. Overall the experience was good and if I’m in Scott’s Valley again(and not broke) I’d stop there again.

Look for the red building in front of Paws to Play, we missed it the 1st time. Not a typical fast food place, gourmet selection! Big dogs and generous, tasty toppings. You’ve got to try the fried pickles. Owner and employees are friendly and focused on their customers. A great new addition for Scotts Valley We love the dancing hot dog on the corner!

OK for what and where it is. Don’t stay too long or your clothes will smell like food. I thought it was a dog-grooming place every time I drove by. Then they put a guy dressed up in a hot dog costume outside and that made me aware. My co-worker went and tried it out first – he said it was alright and I trust his judgement. My lunch today was the Kobe beef dog meal deal. The hot dog itself was very good and filled up most of the bun. I’m more of a boring hot dog eater – I like it with just the basics of ketchup and mustard because I want to taste the dog itself. I didn’t feel like I got a «deal» with the meal(although I saved $ 0.30) because they charged $ 2.25 for my $ 1.25 side of potato salad and a small fountain drink.
