**CASHONLY** Scoops is an okay ice cream spot on Route 22. My parents used to take me here all the time as a kid(living in Union), and I loved it. Growing up, and expanding my ice cream palette, I started to realize the taste and texture weren’t the best. Their milkshakes aren’t too bad… Scoops DOES, however, give you a lot of unique flavor options to choose from(Chocolate Marshmallow, Smurf Berry, etc.). If you’re up that way, and have a hankering for some ice cream, sure — swing by. I wouldn’t recommend going out of my way for Scoops, as there are definitely better options for a better experience nearby.

This place is a hit or miss depending on what you are getting. I love the chocolate marshmallow ice cream. However a few times I have gotten a coffee shake & it was soooo milky & thin. So the next time I went back I ordered it again & asked the attendant to please dont mix it so much cause the last time it was like soup. They started laughing. Another time I decided to try a blend & that to was soooo thin it was ridiculous. Those kids need to take a lesson or two about making blends & shakes from Dairy Queen. Zita’s in New Providence also makes great blends& shakes.

ice cream is great, options are endless!!! wish it was a little cleaner but what do you expect, as soon as you wipe a table, it gets sticky. They have indoor seating, window/awning seating and a back patio, with a bathroom. Wish they took credit cards though… who carries cash any more???

The experience my husband and I received on Sunday was horrible none of the employees acknowledged us standing there, there was only one other family in the establishment with 4 employees. They then allowed us to leave and when I called the manager to discuss the situation she only said that she told the employees to do what they were doing, never did she say she would look into the situation. She seemed to have an attitude while speaking to me. I told her I see where her employees get their nasty attitudes from. As we were in our car about to leave another couple walked in and the employees immediately assisted them. I will never go to Scoops again. The only reason they got a star was it wouldn’t let me post without one THEYDON’T DESERVEANYSTAR’S!

Good variety of ice cream flavors: caramel cone explosion, chocolate milkyway, coffee heath bar, etc. The coffee tastes slightly artificial with a weird aftertaste though. They will let you taste multiple flavors which is nice. The woman who served us said I could get multiple flavors in a small, but when I ordered a small with two flavors she gave me a giant cup and said that I had ordered a «two-scoop.» The«two-scoop» was the size of a large for some reason. Overall decent atmosphere and several interesting flavors, but some of them were too icy and not as creamy or flavorful as I would have liked.

Went here to pickup a cake for my daughter’s first birthday. The lady behind the counter was very polite and helpful. Everyone at my party loved the cake. Carvels ice cream cakes can’t compete with this place. There’s only one request that I have… need more crunchies in the cakes! BTW their ice cream selections are awesome as well.

We love Scoops! We live within walking distance, and usually make a family trip each weekend for our ice cream fix. The homemade ice cream is delicious and wholesome. I haven’t met a flavor I didn’t like, and there are so many to choose from. The staff is friendly and attentive to each guest.

I was looking for a nice ice cream joint to stop into on my birthday last month and this was definitely what I was looking for. They have an extensive selection of hard ice cream and they have all the classics. It’s locally-owned and open all year, which is pretty great and rare for a creamery. I got a simple vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles when I stopped here and the ice cream was super creamy and tasted great. I now have a go-to spot for some nice ice cream! Heads up, it’s Cash Only!

I’m sorry but this place has gone downhill. I’ve tried to give it a few chances… but the past few times the ice cream has tasted freezer burned and yesterday my stomach didn’t feel good after eating it.

This independent, local creamery has been around for so many years! When I was a kid in school, I would always see a lot of ads in regards to this place, including the words«Come Here For Ice Cream!». Up to now, I’ve never been here before. But now, thanks to my friend(not a Unilocaler) who convinced me to get a certain unique flavor here, I can finally say that I experienced this place for the first time. This place is located right off of US-22. You could also utilize the back roads to come here, which was what I did. The parking lot isn’t that big, and on days when it’s not crowded(like today), you shouldn’t have a problem finding a spot. Inside, there was a decent amount of tables and chairs for you to sit on and enjoy your treat. There were two sections of ice cream. Each section had two rows of flavors that were available for your desire. You could also sample a flavor to taste. Speaking of tasting, I sampled the«Smurf Berry» flavor, which was what my friend recommended me to try. I tried it, and I liked it. With that, I got a one-scoop sundae of that, and my friend got the two-scoop version. They had a huge range of toppings for you to choose from, and one topping was included with the one-scoop sundae. Now you’re probably wondering how the Smurf Berry flavor tasted. Well, one thing for sure, was that it didn’t taste like blueberries. There was a little bit of a fruity, tangy taste in it, but I couldn’t picture an actual fruit inside my head as a result from the taste. I also tasted the vanilla in this flavor as well, which was good. There were also some marshmallow pieces mixed in, probably just to give off a unique texture. The color of the ice cream itself was blue, but again, this flavor didn’t taste like blueberries. But one thing’s for sure, is that your lips and teeth may turn blue when you’re done eating your sundae. In regards to the topping, I chose Nestle Crunch pieces. Whipped cream and a cherry on top was included at no additional charge. Overall, the sundae was quite tasty. The staff overall was just okay. But just a heads-up that this place ONLYACCEPTSCASH. They also have seating outside during nice days(not during a Nor’Easter like today). If you want to get fresh ice cream from a local, «non-chained place», then this place is it. My overall experience makes me a fan! :D

Chocolate Almond! … Best I have ever had anywhere. All flavors are made at the store. There are no franchises, This is the one and only! Lucky me I live within a few miles. If your on Rt 22 in Scotch Plains New Jersey make it a point to stop in and have a scoop of Scoops! You will be happy you did.

Their ice cream always taste great. They seem to rotate flavors oftent. MYONLYCOMPLAINT is the layout is terrible. They ask you what you want before you even get past the first case of ice cream. I like to look at all the flavors before I decide ;)

I am glad I tried this place again because it was a much better experience than the first time I went. The place was pretty busy with people sitting inside and TONS of ice cream to choose from! I was so excited when I saw all the flavors, I don’t remember there being that many but it was so hard to decide. The barista told me that it is all homemade ice cream, score. I ordered 2 scoops: mint Oreo and vanilla fudge brownie, in a sprinkled cone. Delicious. It was huge though, I would not recommend getting 2 scoops unless you really want two flavors or you can finish it. I, of course, finished it because I absolutely love ice cream. The people working were of a younger age and were really friendly and helpful. They made the experience much better and I can’t wait to go back when I am in the area. Tons of seating inside and on nice days, there are benches outside.

Considering this ice cream shop is 20 minutes from where I live and located on a busy highway… I still really like the ice cream. I also like the area where you can sit. There is another ice cream place we like but there is no place to sit and eat it. I got the peanut butter swirl. It was very good. My kids both got soft chocolate and were very happy with the choice. I sampled some of the chocolate and I liked it. It was creamy and not too rich. I really really wish that it was not located on RT22.
