Well, first I’ll respond to «Shelley N.» and«Danielle B.» and their rude and disparaging suggestion that Mac’s is «a dive» with«awful, greasy food.» These comments do not represent my experience as a local resident who has visited Mac’s many times. On the contrary, this diner serves good food and the service is perfectly fine. It’s a basic diner, and has a good menu. I never had any problems with the waitresses despite the rude comments from other reviewers about them supposedly taking smoke breaks«every five minutes,» which obviously is a wild exaggeration. I don’t understand how people can be so mean and nasty when writing reviews, especially clueless out-of-towners like Princess Shelly!

very good diner! The Mac sandwich is great, it’s a bacon(or sausage, or ham), egg, and cheese sandwich on a perfectly toasted roll. There must be something magic about their griddle, their bread is always perfectly toasted and the food comes out very hot. their bacon is has a good flavor and a good texture. Their scrambled eggs are good and their home fries are ok, not my favorite style though. they deep fry theirs instead of frying them on a griddle. the french toast was pretty good but i felt like there was something missing, same with the pancakes. the pancakes were also a little on the small side. their chilli dog is good too, and i really liked the burger i had from them, as well as their fries. the food usually comes out within 10 minutes depending on what you order and how busy they are. i think the most i waited for food before was 15 minutes. one of the waitresses i’ve had was really good, the other was a little slow and a little rude. the place is nice and clean on the inside. the owner seems like a nice guy, but not everyone is gunna get his hardass sense of humor, so you’ll enjoy this place more if you’re not super uptight. they take credit cards too but they have a $ 10 minimum, i felt the need to mention that because it may be helpful to some readers on here.

A dive of a place. Very cheap hot food. I had a nice egg white western omelet. This is a place from another era.

Run, don’t walk. Awful service and very greasy food. Took forever to get a table, staff were rude about what food they had run out of. Took forever to get our meals, maybe if the staff didn’t take smoke breaks outside the front(open) door every five minutes it would like have been faster. Can’t complain to a manager since the sign above the service window states«complains: take a number, it will be attached to a grenade». Never going back… What a terrible experience.

Ian’s review is spot-on. A great diner with great service and prices. I am normally working during breakfast and lunch but try to get there as often as I can. I’ve almost always ordered one of the specials, which are normally something you can find on the regular menu, just at a discounted price. They usually have quite a few specials and I always have a hard time deciding on just one thing to order. It’s a must if you’re in Schuylerville and looking for a good diner.

Mac’s Diner is a basic casual hometown diner/restaurant located in downtown Schuylerville, which serves up breakfast(all day) and lunch. The place has an L shaped lunch counter with several tables and booths in one dining area, kitchen in the back. There are lots of old framed pictures on the side wall. The natural light from outside shines through the big storefront windows. They offer the typical breakfast dishes, as well as lunch items including sandwiches, subs, burgers, chicken tenders, soups, chili, and desserts(homemade strawberry shortcake and ice cream). Machristay’s Coffee(Chris’ Coffee Service) and Pepsi fountain drinks are served here. Daily specials are posted behind the lunch counter. The prices here are very reasonable, most items $ 6.95 or less. I decided to have lunch at Mac’s Diner very recently around 1PM. I tried last month to have breakfast here, but the place was closed on the MLK holiday. It’s seat yourself, so I sat up the lunch counter for prompt service. I quickly looked over the menu and specials and I was also told I could get breakfast too, just no more omelettes. I did notice the homefries were fresh cut and deep fried. I wanted a comfort dish, so it was a toss up between the chili and the beef stew and I went with the latter. The beef stew($ 5.95) served with a toasted buttered hard roll(actually soft) was served to me in about 5 minutes, piping hot. Though not a fancy stew and not too thick, had tender beef chunks, carrots, peas, and potatoes. This stew was hearty tasting and very filling. That was enough food. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t have any room for dessert, the strawberry shortcake with homemade biscuits. I think next time I’m passing through town, I’ll come back hungry and try out the chili and some dessert. The service was attentive and prompt. That’s always a good thing.
