Al & Andy’s is a five-star greasy spoon, but the food’s not greasy! First of all, Brenda is the absolute BEST waitress in the entire Chicagoland area! Hands down!!! She not only knows what our large group orders BYHEART, she has it going before we even sit down! She is awesome to the kids and knows what you need before you even know you need it! The food is delicious. It is the only steak and eggs in the area that my husband will eat. The skillet with mushrooms, ham, onions, etc. is delicious! The kids’ pancakes are substantial and delicious. The coffee is as expected. I would LOVE if they upgraded the coffee here, but it is what it is. The eggs are always cooked exactly as you order them, which is saying something because lots of places seem to have an issue with cooking eggs as ordered. All in all, we love eating at Al & Andy’s. Brenda always makes us smile and serves with a smile. Go there. You’ll like it.

Typical neighborhood diner. Pros: The food was good for a local diner and arrived fairly quick. Feta omelette was a bit on the small side but hash browns were decent. Toast was buttered and toasted just right. Cons: We all sensed the smell of sewer from our booth. This place is probably due for some refreshing and clean up. Waitress was not very friendly and was very forgetful of our requests for our sides as well as additional coffee refills. The consensus among us was that we would probably not come back again. Not a bad place, but nothing exceptional and was not overly impressed. Considering the variety of breakfast joints that are available within a 5 mile radius, I’d probably skip this and go somewhere else.

No frills old school diner. I’ve been coming to this place since I was a kid. The food and service is good. They keep my coffee cup full without asking and that’s about all I can ask for.

Typical neighborhood diner, a 60’s throwback. They have the expected big menu. Server was friendly and on the ball. Ambience was a throwback in need of updating. Food was good but not outstanding. I’d go back for the good soups and rolls. Greek salad was good. I’d call it steady but not outstanding.

Great family cozy feel– with old school diner traits. Friendly and hospitable staff. The ambiance needs a bit if a facelift, and it could be cleaner. I had scrambled eggs hashed browns, toast and a pancake. Very fast and hot– I was please with my meal! Great spot!

With no food in the house after being away for a week, we decided to stop for dinner somewhere by the airport on our way home. This was definitely a good choice for our family of big eaters. Our server was lovely — deftly handling a water spill and providing what we needed before we even asked for it. She warned us that the food would take a while because it was freshly prepared but then she brought out the soups and salads immediately. The thick split pea soup with small chunks of ham was served very hot with a few croutons sprinkled on top. Other than that we had the skirt steak, beef kabob, philly cheesesteak, and hamburgers. Everything was good solid diner fare, with a reasonable bill at the end. I’m sure we’ll be back.

A really solid, go– to type big menu diner. Very good portion and value, food that tasted good, especially for a diner. There was an old school waitress working her tail off for the bills that she has to pay with just enough attitude to make you feel normal but not so over the top that you feel she didn’t respect you and your hard earned dime paying for a home cooked meal. Top that off with the surly diner pimp lingering in the background so the operation stays smooth and efficient, I’d say Al & Andy’s isn’t quite the birthday treat but a great alternative to having to cook and do your own dishes.

Old school type diner in the heart of schiller park. Great breakfast, try the greek skillet, probably the best ive had in the area. Dinner is good too, lots to choose from, comfort food. Waitresses are friendy and fast. Only drawback is the place could use an update, but overall good place to stop and eat.

This is the place I compare everyone else’s Benedict to. I don’t know what it is… It’s just amazing. Coffee isn’t bad either. The staff is real but never rude. Pleasant place to have a conversation and catch up…

Old school family type restaurant, probably more of a breakfast place overall though. Been around forever — when I was in HS, my friends and I would stop there for breakfast after an all-night card game. My waitress, Brenda said she had been working there for 37 years and recalled it being pretty busy there 24⁄7. Different times, but glad to see this place has persevered. Ordered a Denver omelette and a side of corned beef hash. Omelette was slightly fluffy and browned just a bit, but overall was good. CB Hash was of the typical canned variety; unless a place makes outstanding CB Hash from scratch(Once Upon a Deli — Northbrook), I prefer it that way. Glad I decided to stop and revisit this place — I’ll have to try their fish fry someday.

Nice breakfast before going to hit the city. Our hotel was by the airport so checked Unilocal for s close breakfast place. We had the Irish Eggs Benedict and eggs over easy. Everything was delicious my wife even tried my Irish Eggs Benefict and loved it. Cooked our bacon crispy as requested. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Today was my second time here. The first time, I was really sick, so I only ordered toast. Today, it was extremely disappointing. This place is 2 blocks from my new house, so I really wanted to like it. I really did. When we walked in(as with our first time) no one looked at or acknowledged us. We sat at our own table. We waited for someone for ten minutes before my dad went to get menus for us. Then another 15 before someone came to our table. Normally, we wouldn’t have waited, but like I said, we really wanted to like this place. Finally, a waitress comes, takes our order, and brings our food. The food came out pretty quick. Here’s the awful part. It wasn’t until our food came and we had a reason to look down at our table(we are one of those«noses constantly in the phone» families) that we noticed the swarm of ants on it. Literally, hundreds. We were wiping them away with napkins, but we couldn’t swat them fast enough. They were all over. We got our check pretty quick after that, which was good because none of us wanted to stay and eat anyway. When we told the waitress, she acted like she didn’t believe us. The other thing that bothered me: I was never able to get a refill on my water or coffee. We never saw the waitress again until she slammed our check on the table.

Traveling from out of state I had enough of hotel and chain restaurants Unilocalers you did not let me down I had a wonderful dinner of chicken Parmesan… Service was really friendly, and I am a;ways happy to spend my money at the local mom and pop restaurants. Prices were more than fair So if you are looking for some comfort food this is the spot, but just know its not fine dining here

Portions are large! Food is good, seems high quality. Only complaint is the milkshakes are over priced for the size. Other than that, it was a good experience.

A great NY style diner around the airport. Order the small skirt steak & eggs. Plenty to fill a sumo wrestler. The long-term history of the cooks and wait staff speaks volumes about the place. A lot of character and energy.

Great spot. I have been coming here for 8 years and we love it. It’s got a family atmosphere. They make great breakfast at good prices. The owners are good people and are very friendly. The staff is attentive and have a great personality. The food is always hot and fresh. And the coffee is always hot. They’ll make anything you want if you ask them.

I’m going to be sick… This is how I feel sitting at the booth with gnats flying around my fresh out the freezer square fish sandwich. I tried the clam chowder and searched and searched through the goop to find any sign of it having clams. …I was not sucessful. If I wanted cafeteria food I’d just go to the hospital…

Pretty empty around 7:30 when I went in. Read some reviews that suggested the Eggs Benedict, and in my opinion that is the ultimate test of a breakfast joint. It came out and looked like I had hoped, perfect. The eggs were poached beautifully, the English muffin was toasted just right, and the hash browns were nice and crispy on top. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star review is because of the décor. Obviously you get a nice, hometown feel, but it just felt a bit old and behind the times. I know some places thrive on that but I got the sense of «we are doing okay and that’s good enough for us». That doesn’t say anything about the quality of the food, because it was awesome. And the waitress was nice enough.

My eggs Benedict was DELICIOUS, amazing hollandaise sauce. Hash browns tasted like they cut them fresh it has a homey feel to it. . When driving past it looks like a dive but its close to my new house and not expensive at all. This is going to be my go to breakfast spot for sure!

While an extraordinary number of options on the menu might lead one to assume that the restaurant hasn’t perfected any of them has happily turned out to be very wrong concerning Al & Andy’s. Taste alone tells you that they take they have taken their time working out each recipe with care and diligence, and the wait staff is so personable they make you feel like an automatic local even if you’re just visiting the locality. My normal diet is a staple of rich and spicy fares, yet I was not disappointed with the Greek chicken. It was very juicy, well done, and very flavorful without being overwhelming. I will definitely be returning.

I ordered the potato pancakes because I’ve always heard about them but have never tried it so I was curious. I was thinking it was going to be like a crêpe, texture-wise but it was more like a hash brown with a little cheese or something inside. It tasted great and it came with sour cream and sausage links. I loved the feel of this diner and there were just enough people to make the place feel alive but it wasn’t crowded. Coffee was hot, servers were attentive and the price was great. It felt like I was eating in a place from 60s, without all the gimmicky crap on the walls like a lot of places have nowadays.
