Great Wall

Great Wall is a Chinese takeout restaurant located in the Crosstown Plaza and just several yards away from another Chinese restaurant (United Buffet).
The place is order at the counter with open kitchen and a few tables for eating in. The menu offerings include the standard Chinese dishes including Cantonese, Hunan, and Szechuan cuisines. Most dishes on the menu are priced under $ 10. Lunch Specials (daily until 3PM) and Special Combination Dinners are offered. See the menu at
I stopped in here for lunch takeout recently. I ordered two lunch specials, L7c Shrimp Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice and L23 Shrimp with Szechuan Sauce and added Hot & Sour Soup ($ 0.70 plus tax) and a Wonton Soup ($ 0.70 plus tax). However, each of the Lunch Specials I ordered were listed at $ 4.75 plus tax each, but I was charged $ 4.95 plus tax each. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the prices changed. They did throw in two bags of fried noodles with my order, which few Chinese takeout places do. Some New England Chinese restaurants give you bread with your order.
Anyways, the food order was hot and ready to go in under 10 minutes. The portions of food were good sized, filling up each rectangle styrofoam container and the soups came in pints.
The Shrimp Lo Mein dish had tender shrimp (cleaned), cabbage, onion, scallions, tossed with soft noodles, on the oily side. The Shrimp with Szechuan Sauce had plenty of tender shrimp (cleaned), broccoli, carrots, water chestnuts, green peppers, fresh mushrooms, red chili peppers in a spicy brown sauce. The pork fried rice (yellow color) had a firm texture with a mix of onions, sprouts, and small pieces of roast pork. The hot & sour soup had good spicy flavors with a mix of fresh mushrooms, tofu, bamboo, egg, celery in a spicy broth. The wonton soup had 3 firm wontons filled with ground pork in a light chicken broth.
Overall, both entrees were very good and served hot and fresh. The soups were also very good, especially the hot & sour soup, which rivals the hot & sour soup served at Sun Fung Chinese Kitchen located less than a mile away.
