Buzzard’s Bay is located inside Wolf’s Hollow Brewing, and though they share a phone number, it does appear they’re run separately from each other. I was disappointed that they don’t do combo plates. I really wanted to try a mix of their BBQ to get a better idea of how good it is. Actually, they don’t do any plates at all. The menu consists of mostly sandwiches, though they do have smoked wings and ribs too. I tried the brisket sandwich, which came with a small side of coleslaw, and potato chips. The coleslaw was a standard cabbage based slaw, and it was very lightly dressed. I liked it. My sandwich was a good sized pile of brisket, a few pickles and their mustard based sauce on a soft bun. The sauce was excellent. Tangy and sweet, but not cloying. It worked really well with the brisket. The pickles looked to be house made and were very fresh. I wasn’t impressed with the brisket though. It had a beautiful smoke ring, but it was cut along the grain. That’s a big mistake. It would’ve been easier to eat if it had been cut across the grain, and it was stringy and chewy as a result. It had a good bark, but the bark wasn’t that flavorful. Overall the brisket was very mediocre, and lacked tenderness and flavor. I do want to get back and try the wings and ribs. My hope is they’re better than the brisket.
