Brown Bag Sub Shoppe

By far one of the best sandwich shops that I have ever been to. My favorite by far is the meaty grill cheese on rye. The staff is top notch and very family friendly. Every time I come to brown bag I honestly feel like I’m at a friends house. They are the 100% percent opposite of a robotic big franchise no individual personality big business which is what I love about them. If you want to talk or hear about local sports, local issues, family life or just get the best sandwich on town… this is the place to go. Keep up the good work.

If you’re looking for a Panini, this is the best place in my opinion. We have had many, in several of there offered varieties and have yet to be disappointed. They have wraps and subs too but we have only had the Panini’s (probably because they’re sooo good)! They have the favorites and a few interesting twists. Highly recommended!

What a great little sandwich shop. It’s nothing fancy on the outside and you could easily drive by and miss it. There are so many great sandwich shops in Albany, the competition is fierce. Sure it’s nothing fancy, but for what they pride themselves on they do it well. It is clean, has a menu that would please even the pickiest eaters, has strong service, and is charming in its own way.
I ordered the turkey jerky which was a heavenly panini of turkey and bacon with your choice of cheese. As if that wouldn’t have you salivating already to it they add avocado spread and a cranberry mayo. AMAZING!
My husband got the roast beef deluxe. It was a sub of roast beef, bacon, cheddar, red peppers. Really a solid showing but cowered in the shadow of my panini. It didn’t stand a chance.
I only wish it were closer to where we lived, I would add it to my repertoire of places I frequent. They also have the option to build your own salad and sandwich but with so many delicious creations on the menu… why would you?

Simply put, this is a great sandwich shop. Our whole family loves a good deli sandwich and the Brown Bag delivered for each of us. The food was great, fresh ingredients and plenty of them. The staff was friendly, obviously cared about the food they prepared, and took great care of our party of seven that walked in unannounced.
Parking is plentiful but seating is nearly nonexistent. If you’re in the mood for a great sub or fantastic panini and have somewhere to eat it, you can’t go wrong here.

This place is great. I’ve been working in Schenectady for a little over a year now and have been looking for a good sub shop ever since I started working here. I am local to the Troy area so I’m used to delicious and huge Deli & Brew subs. I had found a few good deli style places that make very good sandwiches (Gershon’s and Maurice’s) which I love but no place I found had met my desires for a quality hoagie. The Brown Bag sub Shoppe takes the cake. I so far have only been here once but I’m sure I will return and continue to have very positive experiences whit this establishment. I ordered a large Deluxe Roast Beef sub with their «Russian Dressing with a kick» (a bit of horseradish!!!). The sandwich was HUGE. I originally thought I would eat half of it for lunch and eat the other half later in the day as an afternoon snack; this I thought until I tasted it. It was so delicious I finished the first half of this giant sandwich in 5 mins. so I started on the second half and by the time I was done I was ready for a nap. There was so much food that I didn’t feel hungry or eat for the rest of the day. Next time I will certainly get a small sub or try one of their many delicious sounding paninis.

I’d never been to this tiny shop, despite living close by. I decided to give it a shot, based on the great Unilocal reviews I’d seen. It’s right across the street from Rollerama on Hamburg Street in Schenectady, and parking was ample. Granted, it was just after 5:00 when I arrived, so no one else was there, but for the size of the place, there’s more than enough parking.
Definitely cozy inside –there are only three tables of two, so I’m not sure where you’d sit if it were really busy, or if you had a larger party. Today, I was getting my stuff to go.
I came in with a list of five items to get, and the friendly employee made each of them lovingly. My family got subs and wraps. Topping options are plentiful, and very fresh, and you really get a LOT of meat in each sub/​panini.
My daughter actually wanted a chicken Caesar wrap, which they don’t technically offer, but the employee was able to cobble it together, using turkey instead (which was just fine). Meatball and ham & cheese subs for my sons were OK. Nothing to write home about, but definitely better than you’d get at Subway. My wife got the Jerky Turkey. We thought that it was usually served as a sub, so that’s what I ordered for her. Apparently, it’s usually served as a panini. Since the employee told me this after he’d already half-​prepared the sub, it was no big deal. The sub was still great. Next time, I’ll probably try to talk everyone into getting paninis, because I feel like that’s where BBSS shines.
I went with their signature item, The Brown Bag Panini. It was really something else. Fantastic. I can’t wait to try each of the other paninis on their menu.
Each panini comes with a bag of chips (SunChips /​Doritos /​Lays /​Cheetos). Unfortunately, no baked chips. SunChips are as healthy an option as you’ll find.
There are also homemade cookies, served in packages of two. They were VERY soft, and needed to be handled carefully, so that they wouldn’t fall apart.
I’ve already got four stamps on my loyalty card!

This place is AMAZING! They have unique sandwiches and paninis which are always delicious. The deli meat is always fresh and tasty. I go here for lunch all the time, great little lunch spot!

Met a friend for lunch and we split a signature Brown Bag Panini and had a HUGE salad. Both were delicious and fresh and very pretty. Great service, too. We will definitely go back.

Very friendly staff. We weren’t sure what to order since many options sounded so good. We were offered to try a sample of their turkey salad which was very good. It’s a small place very neat and clean staff wore gloves which were changed in front of us. It’s nice to know places still care about being clean. Our sandwiches were tasty and we will be back to try more!

I stop here after my hair appts with BobbyJo at Mainstream Hair Studio. The staff are always friendly, the service is quick without feeling rushed, and the food never disappoints. They use albacore tuna, not the chunk light that other places skimp on. Love this local shop!

brown bag! I love this place, even if you think it is a tad expensive but the amount of meat/​toppings they put in each sub/​panini is worth it. I have almost tried everything on the menu.
The Jerky Turkey is by far my favorite. it has a spread of their homemade cranberry mayo, and avocado spread among other toppings. The flavor is wonderful!
Their homemade chili is yummy also. They also have a sandwich card. 10 stamps and you get a free sandwich.
