Excited to see a self-serve froyo place inside the mall, but this falls short of pretty much everything I was hoping for. The flavors were that unnatural sweet kind, not like REAL frozen yogurt(more like the kind that is trying and failing to be ice cream) and they had a guy getting samples for you, so it took forever, and of course I didn’t try as many flavors as I wanted to… normally I’m not a sampler, but because this FroYo craze can be hit or miss on the flavors, I always try before I buy(but I do always buy). In any event, the toppings selections were small and awkwardly placed across from the machines, so you’d have to cut through the line of people waiting to get yogurt to get to the toppings, and half of the options were just in bins haphazardly on a table with plastic spoons stuck in them. The selection wasn’t very good either. With so many of these places popping up all of the sudden, it seems that Yochill didn’t do much research on their competition before they opened. I’d rather leave the mall, drive to Streets of Woodfield, and fight for parking just to get Red Mango, which is quality, than to go back to Yochill.

This replaced the Frulatti that was here for years.(Actually, I was pretty upset when I found out.) Anyway… A couple friends and I went here and while the product tasted good, it was WAYTOOEXPENSIVE! They said the small cup«starts» at $ 3.something, but both my friend and I paid close to $ 6! I don’t like the whole pay-by-weight thing. As a concept, it’s fine, but I would rather you just dispense it for me and stop when I hit the $ 3 mark. I probably won’t go here again. Yes, it’s central to the mall, but Yogen Fruz is a 3 minute walk in the JCPenney’s wing of the mall, and I won’t have any sticker shock over there.

Yochill is a new frozen yogurt place at Woodfield right next to Coldstone Creamery and The Icing. It’s definitely a nice addition to have a frozen yogurt spot at Woodfield… but it’s rough that it’s right next door to Coldstone! That’s like torture! We must have been the first customers of the day at 1135 as when I went to get the regular tart flavor, it was all watery. :(I dumped that bit out and got some more and all was A-OK. When I was finished getting my yogurt, a worker came out and ran all of the machines for a minute for just that reason I’m sure! A minute too late though! They have 12 flavors with some cool options like Cookies & Cream and Cappuccino… Plus you can pick a center setting in each console area so it mixes the two flavors on that machine together. The toppings are limited here but they have the essentials and made my friends and I happy. They have a few tables in front of the shop which offered a nice little break from walking. All in all, if I really need yogurt while in the mall, I’ll stop here. I’d rather go to Red Mango at Streets of Woodfield where the prices are cheaper, the yogurt is better and the staff is much friendlier. Sadly, I don’t see Yochill lasting very long.

One rare day, when I went on a shopping spree at Woodfield(an alien took over my body, I swear), I was craving something cool and noticed Yochill. Since I love trying new fro-yo places, eating here was a no-brainer. I should have gone next door to Coldstone instead. The fro-yo was runny, the toppings were limited, and it was super expensive. Meh. Not coming back.

So, what I really like about this froyo is that they have quite a few flavors if you’re up for trying something different(which I always am). I tried red velvet and coconut. I don’t think either were AMAZING, but it was good and fun to try. You get your cup and serve yourself, pay by weight. They have a little bar of toppings you can add on, but they weren’t labeled so I had to ask what a couple of things were.
