If you like getting harassed by phone messages go here. We stopped in because we were curious. They require a phone number to bid. We didn’t see anything we wanted and left. Then the automatic calls started – 4 or 5 a week. I called and asked them to stop. They did for awhile, then they started up again. It’s horrible. Don’t go!!!

I was driving down Golf today when I saw a large truck pull up alongside me with a large sign attached to the back. It was sort of like the one’s you see driving down the strip in Las Vegas advertising ladies for hire. Since I had nothing better to do at the time, and it was right down the street, I figured why not check it out? Best I can gather after registering is that this place holds auction events periodically across the country with the Schaumburg location being a particularly busy hub. A gentleman at registration took me ID, explained the process, and sent me on my way. The place is stocked to the hilt with high dollar merchandise!!! I am not talking about what you would find in a typical Schaumburg furniture store either, we are talking ultra primo all wood mahogany dining room tables that seat 12, Persian rugs, artwork from highly known artists, vanities made out of pure marble and onyx… you get the idea. They give you a stack of blue tickets with your bid number on it and you can place it on items that you might want to bid on. These items are then eventually filtered in front of the auctioneer and away you go. You do not need to place the blue ticket to bid, but it will get the item in front of the auctioneer faster. They start all the bidding at about 10 – 20 percent of the retail price of the item. Bid frequency was a mixed bag. Some items had a fairly ferocious bidding war, others like my set of oak bar stools I got for 50 bucks, got no interest at all. My strategy was to wait to place my blue ticket on an item until a majority of the high rollers(mostly guys in their 60’s with 20 year old girls in tow) either shot their wad or else their endurance ran out and they left early. The most expensive item I saw purchased was a room sized and rare Persian rug that walked for just shy of 10 grand. A dealer would probably be looking for 25−30K for such an item in my estimation, so there are some good deals to be had if you have the bankroll to afford it. Hell, you could probably sell some of them on Ebay for that matter. I am not sure how frequently they hold events at this location, but they did say it was fairly regular and you can sign up on their email list to be notified when they will be in town. They have a «sell to the bare walls» type of model, and they stay for 5 days at a time. I plan to stop by tomorrow and see if I can score another decent deal. If nothing else, watching all the guys burn through tens of thousands of dollars is fun enough to entertain me. I made a short video of the proceedings, which I will attach shortly, and if I go back tomorrow I will take some more pics. —EDIT— I did load the video, but it is only viewable on the Unilocal app on your phone or iPad. Not sure why.
