Excellent cake and vibe here. Strong coffee, great prices, and the smell alone in here is worth a visit

Second time getting a lemon bar from here– they’re INSANELY good. Seriously, go here and get a bar! The staff is really friendly and the baked goods are fantastic. Consider me a regular now :)

I ordered a custom praline cake for a birthday from this bakery. I had a surprisingly difficult time finding a bakery that would make a praline cake in Savannah! The cake was unbelievably beautiful and delicious and the service was even better. I had to pick up the cake in the middle of a torrential downpour. They waited for me even though I was late, and helped me in the rain. The cake was amazing. Highly recommend ordering cakes from here!

No ma’am. No sir. When you think of a bakery, a few notions may enter your mind: sweet, decadent, professionally created one of a kind treats that are not easy to duplicate at home. Well, do not associate any of those words with this place. FIRST, I must give credit to the ladies working within the place. They were welcoming and very friendly and I appreciated their excellent customer service because that is a novelty that is rare, but noticeable in this day and age. The items I ordered were less than desirable, unfortunately. I ordered the canasta cake which I was thinking of my childhood when mom would stop by the Gottlieb’s bakery(now defunct) where the rich, pecan infused chocolatey goodness of the stiff ganache that overlaid a pillow soft chocolate cake with the surprise of some delicious and decadent Bavarian cream filling made your eyes roll back into your head — that was the sensation I was hoping for, but we’ll get to that later. Also, I added a cheese danish, and an apple turnover to my order. Sadly, none of items left a semblance of noteworthy praise. I should have known when I held the 8 pound bread baking pan size of canasta cake that it was already not the same as the petit fors size Gottlieb’s cakes, but I held the faith that perhaps the taste would bring me back. It brought me somewhere far from my childhood and a little more closer to the toilet. In fact, the dry bitterness of the cheap chocolate used to make the canasta cake is one that still lingers on my tongue while the greasy pits of soft batter — like pastry dough is rotting in my bile ducts. Sorry Rum Runners, but your customers probably should run to Barnes & Noble and buy you a cookbook!

This is a bakery/café combo. You can order wedding cakes etc from them but I haven’t done so. I went for lunch one day and had a turkey bacon sandwich which was okay, nothing memorable. There is better food in savannah in my opinion. Also, the staff is not the most professional. They were shouting in the back to each other which made me feel a slightly uncomfortable.

Ok I have been meaning to visit this place for a while and was finally in the area and checked it out. I absolutely love the rustic/modern kinda vibe it has. They have a lot of breakfast/lunch offerings however I picked out a lemon bar and a butterscotch bar out of the many little desserts/pastries that were available. They were both AMAZING! And as far as service goes… nicest young ladies ever. You can just tell they put their heart and souls into their food and business in general. I am definitely coming back to try out their food and other goodies they have… and more lemon bars, best ever! Do yourself a favor and check them out :)

I ordered my wedding cake from them. I was really excited because the staff was so courteous and the prices were the best around. Then after a fabulous ceremony my mom forewarned me and she was right… The cake looked nothing like the picture I had provided. It was clearly a cake with red flowers in a very pink and black wedding. I was very disappointed, personally didn’t try any, but everyone said the cake was just ok. With all of the great choices in Savannah I would pass this one up.

I actually can not review their product because their customer service is so bad we didn’t hire them After being referred to them by 2 different people(one from my wedding venue) I was excited to get a quote for my destination Savannah wedding. On 4÷23÷14 I requested a quote for my September wedding, I followed up with emails on 4/29, 5/8, and 5⁄12 along with a phone message left for Meggan. As of 5÷23÷14 none of the emails or phone message has been responded to. I understand being busy but to completely ignore future customers is just plain unprofessional and rude. I hate that this is the kind of customer service I have to report back to my venue and local friends. Obviously we will not be using them for our wedding. Good luck to any others who try to get in touch with them

I was there two days in a row for breakfast. I ordered a Scrambled Egg Sandwich with Turkey and Provolone and was not disappointed! Really tasty! Staff was very friendly. The place is really small, but I think this contributed to a somewhat cozy atmosphere, even if the interior is really basic.

My fiancé’ and I drove down from Atlanta to check out vendors for our future wedding and Savannah RR was recommended to us. Immediately on arrival we were a bit confused as it doubles as a post office. The owner’s mom was nice enough to see us and allow us to taste samples of wedding cake flavors and icing(we did call first) and for that they get the 2 star review but unfortunately the samples were dry or stale not sure which one. The owner and main baker herself acted too busy to even look at us let alone talk, so go figure.

This bakery is newly located and under new management. The baked goods are all made fresh and the owners are pleasant. Give it a try and your sweet tooth will be rewarded.

The café & bakery moved to a new, larger location at 324 West Bolton Street. It’s decorated cute, like a shabby chic bakery. It has seating for maybe 10 people? I hear they will have outdoor seating in a backyard garden this summer. My office orders lunch from here once a month and everyone has enjoyed their meals. Its a short drive from downtown off of Jefferson St. Free street parking. They have delicious soups(selection changes daily), and it’s a good deal as a combo with a sandwich or salad. The grilled cheese(super cheesy and greasy like any all-American grilled sandwich should be) and roasted tomato soup is my favorite. Caesar salad with grilled chicken is standard– lots of chicken, diced and large, homemade croutons. The rum cakes, original and chocolate, are great! Moist and strong flavor. My favorite are the iced shortbread cookies!

Why does this place even exist? I have never received anything but poor customer service and cookies I would not even feed to my dog. Everything tastes the same here, like baked goods my little sister made in 4-H. I am appalled at the lack of professionalism from every employee at this bakery. I walk in and although they all look at me, coming to the counter for my business is only on their time. Usually this is at least five minutes after I have entered the store. Seriously? Get it together people. We won’t be going here again.

Unlike the other reviewers, I find it quaint, friendly and pretty wonderful to have a U.S. Post Office in my neighborhood bakery. I do all my postal business here and then often pick up cupcakes for the kids. I go to Rum Runners a few times a week and never found the employees/bakers/postal workers anything but friendly and warm. This is definitely a family bakery as opposed to the popular and high-priced cupcake boutiques. But my children love these cupcakes, which cost $ 1.50. We enjoy the cookies as well. I haven’t purchased a cake here but have watched the bakers put together some cute kids’ birthday cakes and a killer Gator bachelor party cake.

When I first walked in I thought not a lot to pick from but it was after 5 pm. I decided to try the peanut butter cookies, coconut macaroons and coconut cake. My husband tired the chocolate cake. The woman gave such a mouth watering description of the chocolate cake it almost made me want to swap my coconut cake for the chocolate cake. The peanut butter cookies weren’t good, but not terrible. The coconut macaroons were stuck together. They tasted gummy and the coconut was chewy for some reason. The coconut cake and I laugh wasn’t fit for a Jester. The cake portion had no coconut flavor at all. it tasted like a cheap vanilla cake. The frosting I doubt a kid would like. it had no coconut flavor. It did have a few bits of coconut so I guess the description passed. Now my husband is a nut for anything chocolate. The look on his face told the whole story. He wasn’t a happy camper. He said it was awful. So I thought let me take a nibble. I thought oh heavens to mergatroid. They skimped on the butter and eggs. It was dry as the Sahara Desert. Please pass this place up even if you are biting your nails for something sweet.

I like having a post office/bakery in the neighborhood, but the service here is aweful! The UPS store may not be able to make me a custom cake, but they don’t look at me like i pissed in a mixing bowl when I ask for a strip of tape of the package that I am sending. Really, tape? They may get a lot of business from people that are used to having them so close to home, but for the people that can go somewhere else, I would recomend it.

At first when you open the door you’re confused where you are, as the post office is operating a large counter in the business as well. Also the signage on the door is overwhelming for the post office and not«bakery». I did like the openness of the work side of the bakery and being able to watch all the bakers frosting and mixing. But I’m not sure this business is used to walk in customers. I went with my friend and ordered a couple of slices to go. I was surprised to see the red velvet had only the faintest schmear of frosting on it and the cake itself had no flavor. Its possible the red velvet just isn’t their forte. I did sample one of their lemon bundt cakes and thought that was tasty. Order that.

This place was really confusing from the outside bc of all the referrals to the US Postal Service in the window displays. The reason for that is bc it’s part bakery/part post office?!? Weird but made sense after I tried their baked goods bc they sure as heck couldn’t survive on that alone. I can’t imagine they get much repeat business. The service was mediocre at best and the place had no design, décor or ambiance at ALL. I bought three servings of desserts to take home. Hummingbird cake, Red Velvet cake and Mississippi Mud. The MIssissippi Mud was passable, the cakes were thrown out after one bite. The Red Velvet was incredibly dense and had no discernible flavor, the Hummingbird was dry and crumbly. I considered both inedible and def not worth the calories if I wasn’t going to enjoy it. Will never go back.
