Adorable little eatery with excellent food and great service. Our waiter was very informative, friendly, and gave good suggestion. Price was reasonable and certainly worth it. If you’re in Savannah make your way to B Mathews you won’t regret it.

One of my favorites for brunch, just be prepared for a little wait on the weekends but well worth it! Their shrimp n grits is the best around! Made a grit-lover out of this new englander… Coffee is delicious here, too…

We were told there would be an hour wait which we were okay with because everyone raved about how delicious the food was. Well the drinks were good, I got the pomegranate mimosa and it was tasty although most of the juice sank to the bottom. I ordered the shrimp and grits which was delicious but could of been a little warmer. The biscuit with the sausage gravy was AMAZING and others said they enjoyed their meals as well. The huge downfall with this place is the service is SOSLOW, 45 minute wait for your food slow. So if you have an appetite and some serious patience, check it out.

Wow, what a nice break from the cheesy touristy traps on River Street. Great food selection and hip Savannah vibe. We were here for breakfast. Awesome selection of quiches and breakfast sandwiches. Lunch and dinner menu looks great too. Would definitely be back.

Artsy, eccletic little spot away from River Street. Charming and unique with fun breakfast and lunch creations. Great service and excellent food! Highly recommend ! I had the quiche of the day: salmon and kale. Delicious! Hubby had the breakfast sandwich and was equally satisfied.

Great meal, interesting menu — fresh food & nice take on regional specialties. Great cocktail menu. Beautiful old building creates lovely atmosphere. Went for dinner at recommendation of hotel clerk and glad we did!

Came here for lunch today with my boyfriend before we set out to do touristy things. Service was slow, but I saw that our server had most, if not all, the tables in front of the bar, so I understood completely. Beer list was very sub-par. I settled for a Sierra Nevada sour, which I’ve had before. Their cocktails may be better, but I didn’t see a list. Our server recommended a few things on the menu and gave us plenty of time to decide. I had a chicken salad sandwich with fries. Fries were like warm, and sandwich was good. Could’ve used a little something… maybe cranberries. Really loved the décor inside though… paintings and the bar. I was surprised that our server took care of my beer(maybe because my birthday was yesterday?). Wouldn’t mind coming back for dinner if we come back to town… if the menu is different.

Came here at the recommendation of a Savannah local, and she was right. Yummy food, friendly and fast service, and nice ambience. If I ever find myself in Savannah again, I’d return to this restaurant. Have the Shrimp and Grits and a side of Blueberry Pancakes!

Visiting Savannah for a day and a half, I really wanted to find some signature southern dish that I knew I couldn’t get anywhere else; yet I didn’t want to go with seafood. Found this place on Unilocal on the main drag called Bay St.; just a few blocks down from the Holiday Inn Express where I was stayin’. They’re located on a corner, and really visible from the street. Interior aesthetics were rustic traditional — cozy and warm — with bare brick walls and old-fashioned wood bar. The vibe wasn’t formal at all, and totally casual, which I liked. Service was really pleasant and I was seated fairly quick, and they almost immediately gave me a basket full of warm bread with a side of honey butter. This was good. I went with the following item from the menu — Orange and sage-braised pork cheek with parsnip, apple and horseradish purée, orange jus, oyster mushroom and asparagus gluten free — $ 22 The pork cheeks were super tender. It did have a sauce that seemed to have a vinegar or worcestershire base, and though good, was a little bit salty(but still really bearable and good). The apple and horseradish purée was a tad bit strong and caused an flavor imbalance, so I mixed a little bit of the honey butter(that came with the bread) in with the purée, and that made it better. Overall, they were good, and would surely come back on my next visit.

First time here and I’ll definitely want to come back to try more dishes. Food was great and so was the customer service. It really made this gloomy/rainy day better for me. Reasonable pricing and portion of the food.

We got here in a Sunday at about 11:00 am in January(the off season) the wait was 1 hour. Go with the wait. There is alot around to fill the time and they will text you when your table is ready. Thanks to the wait we were able to order cocktails with our brunch. No alcohol before 12:30pm on Sunday in Savannah, another reason to take the wait! I never had a Bloody Mary and really wanted to try one, the waitress we had offered me a half cup option for only $ 3.00(not on the menu). I took her up on the offer and added the shrimp and girts. The Bloody Mary was not my cup of tea… way too salty for me. Here enters the nice server again…“How was the Bloody Mary?” Me…“not for me, too salty” Nice server…“I won’t charge you for it!” What I didn’t even have to complain? I wouldn’t have seeing how there was nothing wrong with the drink it just wasn’t the drink for me. Now into the AMAZING shrimp and grits. Do it. Get the shrimp and grits you will not be sorry. Creamy and savory. Oh so good. Only 4 fresh shrimp, but good size ones and only about $ 9.00 can’t be beat for the price.

Stopped in here today on the recommendation of a friend. Glad that I did. I was eating alone, but never felt out of place during my lunch. My server was very attentive and also helped me with my decision between two sandwiches I wanted to try. I ended up having the turkey with pancetta sandwich with the pasta salad as a side. It was just the right amount of food and was delicious. I will certainly be stopping in here for a meal again before I leave Savannah.

5 star food, 2 star service, so I’ll settle for 3 stars. The food was great, the service was not. Some of the best hollandaise sauce I’ve ever tried on the scramble. They ran out of duck when we went which was a bummer as I heard their duck and waffles is really good. I feel like I may have just had a waiter that was tasked with too many things. He was the bartender as well even though we were seated at a table. He never came by once to fill up our drinks and didn’t bring us the food nor did he bring us the check– we had to ask twice. I would try it again for the food and give their service another chance!

Y’all… y’all…yalll!!! In my best bama voice! This is a really good brunch spot! I rate my spots on good eats & good drinks. This place is definitely it! We came here for Sunday brunch. It was super packed. FYI please make reservations. We got our names on the wait list then walked around Savannah. Once we came back we were just in time to be seated. I. Was. Starving. I ordered the famous B. Matthews Bellini that I keep hearing about. Listen, if you want a good brunch cocktail with a kick. Order this… you’ll be in love with everything around you lol. Next we ordered our food. I got the small order of the biscuits & sausage gravy, shrimp n grits, & my date had the bay street scrambler. Everything was flavorful without being over powering. I appreciate that in a spot. It was sooooooo good! My ONLY complaint was the food was luke warm. I like my food piping HOT ! The only reason I didn’t send it back was because I was so freaking hungry. Overall, I would definitely recommend a reservation here! The service is cool, great food, great drinks, & pretty OK atmosphere. I will definitely be back! Next time I’ll make sure they know I need it HOT!

Hubby and I came here for dinner as a last minute change in our vacation itinerary. It was very convenient to our hotel, which was one of the reasons why we chose it. B. Matthews is very inviting and warm. A cozy little corner restaurant with a great atmosphere. This is definitely one of their assets. Sitting here having a meal was very relaxing and quaint. Hubby and I had good service and, for the most part, pretty delicious food. DUCKCONFIT — This is one of the apps we shared that did not turn out like expected. The menu does say«potato scallion pancake» but we weren’t expecting the duck confit to be INSIDE the pancake. It didn’t have that rich, luxurious taste like other traditional duck confit. This is one of my husband’s favorite things to eat, so he was definitely disappointed. We pointed it out to our server, and he said we weren’t the only ones to make that comment. FRIEDGREENTOMATO&BLACKEYEDPEACAKE — Now this one was very delicious. I could have eaten just this(perhaps two orders) and been perfectly happy. My favorite was the pea cake — tasted like a black bean patty. I love black bean patties. So yeah, this one was very good. RABBITCASSOULET — This was my husband’s entrée, and he loved it. Kind of like a stew of braised rabbit and beans in a tomato broth. Very hearty and flavorful. I took a little bite — and while I have no interest in eating rabbit — I thought the dish tasted delicious. The beans, for me, was the best part. SEAREDGNOCCHI — This was mostly good. The gnocchi is homemade, which gets bonus points. It was light but filling. However, it had too many pine nuts in it and personally I am not a pine nut fan. However, this is nothing against the dish itself — just a preference on my part. I did enjoy it very much if I got a bite without pine nuts. Dessert was pretty good. Hubby got the chocolate panna cotta with was awesome. Topped with a berry compote and a delicious almond twill cookie on the side. I had the mango upside down cake, which was nice but that panna cotta was so much better. All in all, dinner was good. Not overly moved by a couple items, but nothing to really complain about. Just preferences. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re looking for some good food and nice atmosphere.

I had a great time at B Matthew’s Eatery. Me and my guest could not decide who had the best meal. The choices for bunch presented a challenge because I wanted to try them all. I settled on a duck and waffles. I was not disappointed with my choice. I love duck and usually try it when I find it on the menu. This was the best duck I had found in years of searching. The waffle was extra crispy on the edges and perfect towards the middle. Let’s not forget the«B. MATTHEW’S BELLINI» made with Leopold’s Peach Whiskey, Rothman’s orchard peach liqueur, cava. This is brunch we are talking about! Without a doubt, when in Savannah you can’t go wrong with a visit the BME.

We had a great brunch here. We made reservations online for 10 am, we we arrived I felt we could of probably gotten a table without a reservation but it never hurts to make one. However by the time it was 11 am, I saw many people waiting. So here’s what we had. I ordered the Old bay scramble. Very delicious, tastes much better than it actually looks. It was scrambled eggs mixed with mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, cheese, scallions and perfectly crisp bacon. It came with a biscuit and I ordered sausage gravy on the side. My husband ordered the Shrimp and Grits and let me just say it was AMAZING. We’ve been living in Atlanta for the past 2 years and only started trying Grits once we moved to the South and we are big fans and order it often. These grits are one of better ones we tried… also they’re very good at Hueys on the river. Anyway you must try this dish and thank me later!

We got here 15 minutes before they opened on a Sunday and there was already line. We only got to stay in Savannah for one night, but throughout our short stay, we kept hearing/coming across B Matthew’s so we made a decision to try it. If you don’t get there when they open make sure you call for a reservation(I am not really sure if they take reservations). I got the biscuits & gravy and it was the best that I have ever had. If I am ever in Savannah it will be challenge to try other things on the menu when I know the biscuits & gravy is so good. But I think I’ll manage. Last thing is wasn’t expensive at all They could raise their prices if they wanted, with the value that you get, but I’m not complaining.

Great spot for brunch in Savannah! We got here early on Sunday morning anticipating a crowd. A line was already forming by 8:30(they open at 9). Once the doors opened, we got in and seated right away. The building doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the interior is very nice. The dining area is small and fills up quickly. I ordered the Mayme’s omlet — spinach, carnelized onions, goat cheese & tomatoes with hash browns and fresh fruit on the side. The portion was huge, and the price was great($ 8.25). The hash browns were a bit too salty for my taste, but the omlet hit the spot. My husband ordered the biscuits & gravy. The biscuits were the perfect consistency — light, fluffy and delicious! Service was great. Our waitress was very nice amd attentive. Food was a bit slow coming out, but that’s understandable considering how busy they were. Take Unilocal’s advice: make a reservation online(go to their website to book a table), or arrive before they open to beat the rush. It’s worth waking up early!

My husband and I spent one long day in Savannah and what a great start we had with brunch at B Matthew’s! We arrived 30mins early for our 10am reservation and there was already a wait for those who hadn’t thought to book ahead. We were asked to wait about 15mins and were eventually lucky enough to be seated at one of the few outdoor tables. The gorgeous sunny day definitely added to the experience! I had a mixed mosa with apricot juice, my husband had the peach whiskey bellini. My drink was pretty average(as you might expect from a mimosa), but his was quite good! If I was a whiskey drinker, I probably would have enjoyed it even more. My fried green tomato and pimento cheese sandwich was great! It had bacon in it, but I don’t even think that was necessary though it certainly didn’t take anything away from the meal. The sandwich also came with a side of roasted red pepper potato salad – great flavor! Husband had the crab benedict, which had a wonderful crab cake. Would definitely recommend both of these. Though I only saw the inside briefly while heading to the restroom(I think there was only 1 unisex bathroom in the whole place), it had a nice vibe and rustic-y interior. Street parking was free and easy to find right out front that morning. Price was about what you’d expect and I definitely recommend making a reservation.
