Awful !!! Thank you Akins and Bobb for NOT being opened on the weekends … I’m sure you enjoyed church on Sunday while my friend had to find someone to take her kids to school and we had to find accommodations for an unexpected extra day !!! We truly appreciate how thoughtful you were!!! DONOTWILLINGLYSUPPORTTHISPLACE!!!

Traveling to Florida and stopped in Savannah where my car would not start in front of the Savannah AAA office. Had car towed to this shop for diagnosis and repair. Reasonable cost and found they problem fixed it for a total of $ 624.32. Mechanic took me with him on test drive and all seemed O.K. When I got back on the road I found that the gear shift indicator was off two notches and had to drive to Florida with the shifter in Reserves. Stopped back at the shop on my way home and Walter(owner) agreed to attempt to repair it. They almost got it right but indicator was still off in 3 gears. Was told by Gilbert at the front desk about AAA2 year warranty work offered by certified AAA shops which I have never seen in writing. Gilbert gave me the work around on the shift issue and sent me on my way. I took car to the Fairfax AAA repair station who quickly fixed it with a simple adjustment but said I need pay for the repair. When I had the manager call Gilbert at Akins and Bobb I was told that they did the original repair and that I came back to there shop with the new issue that already existed. Gilbert told the AAA manager that he had given me the” Rube Goldberg” work around solution to the shifting problem. My AAA facility took petty on me and quickly adjusted the shift indicator cable guide clip on the steering column shifter that had been drop when Akins and Bob removed and Replaced the Electrical Ignition Switch(see photo) as a courtesy. It was a shame that Gilbert evidently challenged my varsity in regards to the shifting indicator issue. I believe the shop did offer me good and competent service other than for not putting the car back together right and moving me along even though the job was not completely repaired.

After driving across country from Los Angeles, my car was shaking when I pressed on the break. I did my own research, as I do not trust ANY mechanic when it comes to my car and my money, and found out that I needed to replace my front motors. I called the place with the best rating on Unilocal first, they quoted me on all 4 rotors(even though I only needed the front ones replaced) and quoted me out at about $ 500.00 with no student discount. This was not going to work for me so I continued my search. I found this place on SCAD’s website and called to get a quote. Today, I got a call from the guy who gave me the quote and told me there was an opening to get my car fixed. I had scheduled a hair appointment which was conflicting with the time slot. So… they offered to give me a ride to the salon after dropping my car off and pick me up when I was done. What service! Nobody in LA would ever offer that… you were on your own. The guys at this place, Pat and Charlie, are so nice and helpful. They listened to what I had to say about my car and did the repairs accordingly. I will definitely go back to them with my future repairs and refer them to anybody who wants to know of a good mechanic. Try them out! You will be very pleased!
