First time at this location and it was not a great experience. They had about 5 employees behind the counter and only one group of customers all together in front of me. One employee was helping that group and the other 4 was just talking among each other. I found it weird that when you walk through their front door it does make a sound to alert them a customer came in. However, none of the 4 greeted me or ask if I needed assistance. I waited a good 10 minutes until the associate that was helping the group ask another associate from the back to come out to help me. I feel this location lacks leadership. I will not be returning to this location and I will let all my friends and family know about my terrible experience.

I don’t even particularly like ham but this stuff is delicious!!! Price is a touch high but who really cares when it is consistently fabulous! Worth the trip.

Best ham around. Staff pleasant, but how can this location be out of honey mustard for the Easter rush. You’d think that would be a no-brainer for their buyer. Improved the check-in/check-out process this Easter.

I am from Michigan and so is Honey Baked Ham Co. When I saw that there was one in Saugus I figure I should check it out. I stopped in a few days before Thanksgiving. Normally, I don’t make big holiday dinners but my girlfriend to have Thanksgiving dinner together. The problem is that I have never cooked a turkey and I didn’t think it time to buck that trend. Small house fires are not romantic. So I decided to make everything else from scratch but the the turkey. I picked up a smoked Honey Baked turkey. It was super easy to prepare, since it was already cooked. It took the stress out of cooking for me, which was well worth the $ 40 bucks I paid. Even though my girlfriend was skeptical she changed her mind once she tasted it and said we she get another one next year. I am guessing we will, I know my culinary limits.

The lines are long, the parking lot is a nightmare and the waitstaff are terrible, but the hams are the best and we get one for every special occasion possible(sometimes we even make one up). The ham is great served cold for the next week, and the hambone makes a perfect base for soups. The side dishes and deserts are nothing special, but go in and get a ham. Oh, and be willing to spend a bit of money, as they are not cheap.

This place is difficult to get to when there is traffic on Route 1! Make sure you check the traffic reports before you head out. As soon as I walked in the door, they offered me a plate full of food samples. I believe there were baked beans, cheesecake, baked turkey, and cranberry sauce. Everything tasted like chemicals except the beans and we ended up buying a small tub of that. Another teenager handed me a paper flyer detailing the deals they were offering that day. I actually didn’t want to take the piece of paper but she wouldn’t take them back so I ended up leaving it on the counter before I left so it could hopefully be recycled. We left here with a ¼ ham. I was told that I was given cooking instructions but when I checked the bag later the papers inside were all coupons and leaflets trying to sell me more ham. I checked the website and it directs you to serve the ham at room temperature because heating it will dry out the meat. I think it is pretty ridiculous to tell people not to heat the ham so I threw it in the oven for about an hour and it was great. I think the ham is really delicious and I do not like to eat ham! The honey glaze is really tasty. Also, I had the impression this place would be more of a shop with products on shelves that I could browse. This place was more like a deli where one long wall had a counter with fridges lined up in the back full of hams. There’s no shopping taking place other than going to the counter and ordering what you want.

We have been getting hams from here for Christmas and Easter for years. The best part is going to the store to get it, because you get to try out samples of the other products that they sell. You can also order a ham and have it delivered to your house in time for your event… all you have to do is defrost it. Watch out for the old ladies, though… they’ll cut you for free samples.
