Dragon Island II Restaurant

Have lived in Saugus for quite awhile and there are many Chinese food places around of course (ex. Kowloon, Out of Asia, etc) but for a more reasonably priced hole in the wall type Chinese spot, Dragon Island is your go to in this area. The Boneless Spareribs are my favorite as well as the Egg Roll which is much more unique in comparison to many other Chinese restaurants as they double batter and fry it creating an extra outer shell of batter which soaks up duck sauce just right keeping all of the ingredients inside with them falling out into your sauce which is a consistent annoyance with most Egg Rolls. Personally, I frequent here often and if you live in Saugus or around the area, Dragon Island definitely will fill you up and quell your Chinese cravings.

Horrible service rude staff and bad food. Delivery was an hour late and we live around the corner, when we said this thier reply was «well you should’ve just walked.»

Food is always great and fresh and orders are always right. Staff is friendly and food is ready quickly to pick up!

As far as Chinese restaurants go, this place is alright. There must be a reason why my Dad insists we drive 10 mins from Melrose instead of ordering from a nearby restaurant. (It’s actually because they use whole cashews in the kung pao beef, not peanuts.)
We ordered on Christmas Eve and there was a 45 min wait for pickup. It’s a busy time, I don’t blame them. When I arrived, there were maybe 8 people waiting. I was taken aback by some of the other customers’ rude remarks and overtly hostile body language. If the kitchen staff was sitting around while I waited for my food that would be one thing, but all 10+ people (what a crew!) were working very hard to make all the food and prep the orders. I only waited an extra 10 mins. If these peoples’ time was soooo valuable, they could have not ordered when they were told there was an hour wait.
Anyway, the place looks a little run down, but I have no complaints about the food. It’s as expected. I wish they had itemized receipts though. I always just blindly pay because everything is listed on a piece of paper in another language and I can’t understand it.
Pet peeve: The menu says «Celestial Dragon» in big letters and then underneath really small it says «DBA Dragon Island». It just bothers me that the DBA is so small. I don’t get it. It sort of defeats the purpose of a DBA.

If I could give less than one star, I would. The rice is always sticky and old, I ask for (and offer to pay for) extra sauces, but they either criticize me or don’t give me what I ask for. Today I asked for 3 extra ginger sauces and I would pay. They said it’s ok, then gave me one large and 2 small. The worst part, however, was the boneless spareribs. I ordered a small side order and probably only 3 were edible. The rest were nothing but fat. Disgusting! The beef teriyaki is just as bad, and you can’t even eat the ends of the chicken fingers without breaking a tooth. I have given them several opportunities, but it is consistently bad. I am finally giving up. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Their food is great. Great portions for the meals. Cant go wrong orering from here.

Best egg rolls in the area right now. Their Beef and Broccoli is amazing. I love the Beef Teriyaki nuggets. Their only real shortcoming is a mediocre version of General Tso’s.

Went there tonight and ordered take out. Asked when given my bag if pint of sweet n sour sauce was in thrre. Guy said yes. We get home and no sweet n sour sauce and chicken wings were suppose to be house spicy wings. So I called and they delivered the sauce and wings BUT they asked for the wrong wings back. What the heck are they going to do with them? I don’t think I want to know. Rice was really dark and just wasn’t good at all. We won’t be back. It use to be our go to place but it’s just not consistent and taking back food freaks me out. We’re done.

Catered food for 20 people had enough food for 25+ at an excellent price. Everything was very well prepared and tasted great. Thank you very much!!! Not sure why there are some bad reviews Albert was very polite and treated us with excellent care. I don’t even like Chinese food (my man loves Chinese food and it was his party) and I thought this food was really good. This place is a great place for delivery and pick up.

Grew up in Saugus and this used to be the best Chinese food in town, last few times I went here and was horrible. Tonight was the last straw, got some chicken lo mien and it was horrendous. I’ll never go there again. Try Hong Kong Express for your basic Chinese food fix in Saugus…

I am so disappointed with the food here. The place itself makes me wonder if the board of health has ever been In here? It appears very dirty and run down. The food was gross, chicken wings were undercooked, the rice was dry and clumpy. Don’t waste your time here.

I have ordered from them on several occasions. Always seems to be an issue. Over charged, wrong order, long delivery time, spoiled duck sauce. The final Issue was the deal breaker … Ordered delivery took them over 45 minutes. poured duck sauce on the food only to discover it was sour (spoiled)…I’m all set with this place

Order from here quite often and never had a bad meal except for one time. I ordered some General Gao chicken. Didn’t have much chicken in it, mostly the flour coating. Other than that, everything else is great.

One star, and not a chance for more ever. We ordered delivery, just a combo, a couple entrees, and a soup, at the end of the order after placing the order and telling them the card info we asked for the total… and click. According to the menu the total should have been $ 41, but the reciept price was $ 53, signed it, thought about it and called the restaurant. The restaurant first accused me of using an old menu, asked me what color the menu was, and said Yup we haven’t had that color in years. Sadly the gf had picked up the menu on her way home from work that day. I calked them on their lie, I then asked them to itemize the order, and they refused.

To others. Stay away, shady dealings here and the food is just as crappy. I overpaid for crap food, don’t do it…
