I was so excited when I stumbled upon Amsterdam. They have such interesting items and the salesperson helping me, Nick, was so friendly. I found and old iron bed and Nick gave me a really good price. He even offered to deliver it for free since their truck would be making a delivery in my area the following week. Well, it is 3 weeks later, and although they have taken my money, they have not delivered the bed, nor do I have a delivery date. The owner did not return my call or email and Nick has now become confrontational. When I asked to just cancel the order and to have a refund, Nick refused, saying that there are absolutely no refunds. I just disputed the charge with my credit card company and they have refunded my money, but it is a shame that it had to come to that. Great stuff, but unless you can leave with the item I would avoid shopping here. They are sneaky!

Great space and a sense of stylized harmony with more treasures than you’d ever think. Tourists like me: The yard is worthy of a simple tour, coffee in hand. Whimsy and décor galore. Glad I stopped in. Owner was lovely, Thank you!

What an odd place this reminds me of something out of the TV show pickers would just dream off I guess we need to have something for everyone this is not my cuppa tea but needing to satisfy my husbands need to pick up junk we dont need… we stopped and ended up walking away with something we don’t need… I’ve read the previous reviews and as listed there something for everyone which I’m sure there is. most likely you will find something that you dont need but that you will want! Happy pickings.

My wife and I have been coming here for years. We make special trips from an hour away just to walk around. We have found a lot of really interesting pieces at this place. We have dealt with the owner as bargaining buyers who like to dicker as well as sellers to the shop of extras we have found and not needed. I have always found his information sharing, hospitality, and deals enjoyable and professional. He sells a lot of upscale stuff so his prices are sometimes a little higher than you might have expected but the pieces are good pieces. And I can say that he offers fair prices when you are selling to him

My Husband and I purchased an large and expensive piece of furniture from Amsterdam. We love the piece and it will look great in our new home. The Owner told us that he had the top trim pieces for the hutch and that he would dig them out of his storage. When we went back several weeks later to pick up the piece he hadn’t found the trim. After several phone calls the Owner finally called us back, and said he would look more extensively for the trim. As of today we still haven’t heard from the Owner. I have given up and purchased trim from another shop. People shouldn’t be able to get away with cheating their customers.

On a whim up to Holland, we stopped by the side of the road to kill some time at Amsterdam. The furniture outside drew us in, and we had a great time looking around the shop. Everyone was friendly and helpful, yet gave us enough space to let us snoop around without feeling watched. We didn’t grab anything, since the car was packed to the gills ready for the holiday up the lake house, but we will definitely be back soon!

Every time I visit Saugatuck/Douglas I tell myself to skip a trip to Amsterdam as I always find something to buy. This week’s trip was no different. Everyone will find something to add to their home whether a fine vintage piece of furniture or art to the very best in kitsch. For the longest time my husband tried to convince me that we needed a large polar bear figurine I assume was obtained from an old miniature golf course, yes very large polar bear. Visit the store to find out for yourself. A trip is an adventure itself!

(aka Amsterdam Antiques and Oddities) THISPLACEISAMAZING! We recently went to Saugatuck, MI for the first time, we went in October so we were there«off season» which meant we had to plan certain days to go to places during off season hours. It was our last full day there and after 3 previous days of pretty uneventful browsing elsewhere, we ended up tracking down a Uhaul Rental to take everything we found inside Amsterdam of Saugatuck! Great prices on unique finds you’ll have trouble finding anywhere else. There is definitely something here for everyone and it’s worth the trip!

Fun location — parking lot was very busy on a Friday late afternoon as cottagers arrived in town for the weekend. Worth a stop to browse and see if anything appeals — well merchandised, they likely have a constantly rotating inventory with stuff coming in and going out. Lots of interesting items, furniture, and surprisingly, when were were there — dishes! Could be a fun place to go to furnish a beach house. Would I recommend: Yes Would I return: Yes
