This park was a nice place to be able to step back and just relax. Ride the carousel, peruse the springs and be sure to visit Spit and Spat.

Sitting along the northern edge of Congress Park in downtown Saratoga Springs, NY you’ll find the famous Congress Park Carousel, and during the summer months the carousel is mobbed with gleeful children who want to ride the horses.
The carousel now sits inside a specially-​constructed gazebo with weather-​proofing around the sides to protect the hand-​carved horses and other characters on the carousel. Each horse is hand-​painted, and features a real horsehair tail.
When my nieces were younger this was a very popular place to visit, especially since there is an ice cream shop located nearby. I still enjoy strolling past the carousel when taking a walk through Congress Park, and pausing to watch the next generation of youngsters enjoying the calliope music while riding the ponies.

I haven’t been on a carousel since I was a little girl, and my goodness I wish I did it each time I saw one. The fantasy-​like music, the gentle moving ride. We were laughing like kids again. I’m so glad they have this gorgeous carousel! Go on it!
