Oh, Quest, why are you such a disaster? This is the question that continues to plague me every single time I have to turn to them for lab work. Today was no different. I arrived to drop off one specimen that was taken at my surgeon’s office and to have blood drawn to go with it. The stark, uncomfortable waiting room was filled with people. There were signs stating that patients should sign in, but no sign in sheet to be found(it turns out that you either have to ask for this carefully guarded clipboard list or wait for one of the receptionists to notice that someone new is present, at which point it is slammed on the counter before said person). Customers were complaining – one rather belligerently – that people without appointments were being taken before people with appointments. Two employees got into a cat fight over office duties while I waited. Some poor man was told, rather loudly, that he’d kept his stool sample out of the freezer too long and needed to produce another(?!). The phlebotomists were kind, but clearly overworked, and it took two attempts for them to draw my blood. Despite the number of blood drawing stations available, there are never enough phlebotomists present for all the chairs, and the place seems chronically understaffed. I personally only go there if I’m forced to – otherwise, I use my primary care physician’s lab. The difference is like that between night and day. Avoid this place if you can, too.
