Go. Get Brisket. Go. The sausage link is so good it will make you slap your grandma… go go get sausage. Go You stand in line order at the counter, they cut meats right in front of ya, check out and go find a seat at a picnic bench inside or out… very Austin TX feel… Can’t wait to go back…

Best pulled ork– baked beans and cole slaw. Our ribs were a bit dry but we returned for another dinner.

Was in town on business recently and love to try bbq when I travel. Ended up going with the Beef-o-rama combo which is a beef brisket sandwich along with two sides. I elected to not go with what I believe was a horseradish option on it and just had the carmelized onions on the sandwich, along with extra sauce. For my sides I did the baked beans and mac ‘n’ cheese. The sandwich was simply amazing, with a tenderness and flavor you’d be hard pressed to find outside of Texas. I actually wanted to order a second one but was just too full to attempt it! The baked beans were right up there with the sandwich, with great flavor that complemented the beef-o-rama perfectly. The mac ‘n’ cheese, while good, wasn’t of the same caliber of the sandwich and beans. It wasn’t very cheesy, and the pasta noodles stuck to each other. This did not degrade from the overall experience at all, however I might be inclined to try a different side next time I’m in town. Of you’re in the area for any reason, you’re definitely missing out if you don’t give this place a try. I know I’ll be back!

One of the few BBQ restaurants in SRQ that serves decent beef brisket, but at a price. Just had the Brisket sandwich with two sides, all very good, with beer for $ 16. That’s not a cheap lunch. Had the brisket plate earlier in the week and again, while good, a bit pricey for the portion served. Very quaint building with lots of atmosphere and great outdoor seating but I have to wonder how long they will remain at this location with the way the developers are buying up and building over downtown Sarasota.

Good BBQ at a reasonable price. But it basically a quick lunch dinner. You get in line, place your order, and carry your own tray to a communal picnic table. Food is very good. Parking is tight. Lots of service vehicles which is a good sign. If your in a hurry but don’t want junk fast food this is the place. On this assignment I went there 3 days in a row.

Great BBQ and lots of southern sides to choose from. Nice little selection of microbrews. Live the décor. Very southern feel.

Was visiting from out of town and read the other reviews on Unilocal.I had the pulled pork sandwich topped with slaw and pickles. Had the baked beans, cucumber salad and sweet potato smashed with pecans as sides. Everything was awesome. Make this place a definite stop if you are in the area.

Last Saturday we returned, the green Bean was not cooked through, and the flavor was lacking. The staff was also not quite friendly or helpful. What a difference with my last visit. The smoked chicken and sweet potato were still amazing.

Good old bar b que in downtown Sarasota– meats and vegetables well prepared and broad selection of sides — Nancy’s bottles their own sauces which are delicious– portions are normal in size — orderliness is fast and staff is courteous — prices run high for some but quality is there — worth a visit !

I want to start off by saying their barbecue is very good. Then I’ll tell you it’s pretty expensive. For sides we tried their cole slaw, cornbread, au gratin potatoes and sweet potatoes. The sides were okay. The best of those were probably the au gratin potatoes. There’s a potatoes tasted pretty watery. The coleslaw was just OK. And the cornbread was too sweet, more like a dessert. We tried the shredded pork, and a combination of lean brisket and shredded brisket. Like I said, the barbecue was very good. The place is very small. The interior part of the restaurant has only two large tables. Then there’s an outside small area, along with a screened area. The employees were very nice. Oh, and also, you serve yourself, cafeteria style. No wait-staff.

The place I miss most in Florida is Nancy’s BBQ. Never had a bad meal or experience. I always go back when I’m visiting Sarasota.

Found this lovely little bbq place on a side road while traveling for work. So glad I did! The atmosphere is modern and not too fancy. The style is counter order, then find a seat, most of which are on the screen patio. I got the Big Salad, which certainly lived up to its name. A two-meal portion of mixed greens almond slices, bacon, and bleu cheese, with, of course, BBQ on top. The $ 8 price point includes chicken, or you can do brisket for $ 1 extra. So, of course, I went for the brisket. It was tender, perfectly smoked. As an aside, the other person in my party ordered the 4-sides dinner: two portions of collard greens, one macaroni and cheese, one baked beans. All were sizable portions and, she said all were delicious. Especially the collards. The only thing I would change about this place is for it to have more dedicated parking.

My husband & I came here this past Saturday. We ordered a rack of ribs, Mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans & corn bread & shared it all. Everything was great! The only thing I probably not get again was the corn bread, it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t anything to write home about. I can’t wait to come back & try some other items!

Nancy’s has the best bbq in the srq! They have lots of choices, but the brisket tacos are my favorite when they have them.

BRISKETBRISKETBRISKET… this is how brisket should taste. I ate the brisket sandwich for lunch and to describe it, well it had the char bark with so much flavor and the fat on the edge just melted in your mouth. The baked beans were pretty good and meaty to but the mac & cheese was not very good, not bad but not good either. The place itself almost looked like a hole in the wall place but it pretty nice in side and has a screened in outdoor patio if you want to sit out there. I want to go back for more BRISKET.

Some of the best bbq I’ve ever had! It’s that good! It was really difficult to pick exactly what I wanted since it all sounded and looked good. But I ended up choosing the Pulled Pork Sandwich, which was amazing! They started off with a large amount of Pulled Pork and tossed it in their signature bbq sauce and throwing in some bacon bits. Then they piled it all on to a good-size roll. The actual meat was tasty! The fact that they smoke their meats really comes through in the flavor. From there I choose my two sides which were the BBQ Beans and the Sweet Potato Mash. They were both delicious in their own right. The beans had the right amount of spice and the right consistency: not too thick/not too thin. The Sweet Potato Mash was sweet without being too sweet, and they were mashed perfectly without any lumps. I’m definitely coming back to this place when I’m in town again, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving some good BBQ!

4 stars? Really? Not a 4 star bbq place. I enjoyed the sausage, although my husband said it was under cooked. The sides were pretty terrible… sand in the collards, their«signature» sesame slaw had no flavor, and the potato salad was blah. Brisket was ok, but fatty. The Chicken– the publix rotisserie is better. Ribs– unremarkable, pretty fry. Rolls had mold on them and were like cafeteria food. Actually, the rolls in a cafeteria might be better. We had ordered the Tractor Pull family dinner and I was a huge waste of $ 75. Also, I called to place the order and gave my credit card to them, as someone was picking it up for me. Then when he got there, they ran his card. Ummm… what was the point of me calling and giving it to you? Why didn’t you run it like you said you would. When I spoke to the woman on the phone, she said it would be ready in 30 min and then called back and said it would be an hour. I should have canceled the order and ordered pizza. Would have been a much better dinner for half the price.

Why 2 stars? Because it just wasn’t in the cards for us. — — — I seriously wanted to enjoy Nancy’s, but it just wasn’t in the cards. I absolutely loved the look of the place. It’s close to exactly what I would do in an alternate universe where I open a BBQ joint. Unfortunately, that’s about all I enjoyed about it. First off, this was our first visit to Nancy’s, so we weren’t familiar with the exact process of ordering. It seemed simply enough, but when we got up to the front of the line, the guy carving meat seemed to show zero interest in addressing us or asking us for our order. It was this weird awkward moment where he wasn’t going to explain it to us, so we just kind of awkwardly said our order loud enough for him and the girl a few away to hear as well. I still don’t know who I was supposed to talk to, but I do know that the guy cutting meat had no interest in customer service. And for the record, I hate complaining about something like that in a Unilocal review, as it could be an isolated incident, or a guy just having a really bad day, but it just bugged my girlfriend and I. At any rate, we eventually sat down with our humongous plates of food, and were ready to dive in without a life jacket. Unfortunately this was the result of our findings: Brisket — we ordered this, as it seemed to be their featured meat. It’s really tough to make good brisket, and unfortunately, it did not happen here. Some of the driest brisket I’ve ever had. Ribs — Not bad, nothing special. Pulled Pork — My favorite of the group. Unlike brisket though, pulled pork is almost always pretty great no matter where you go. Chicken — Had an odd flavor to it. We didn’t each much of this. Mac-n-Cheese — Pretty bland. Not really worth ordering. We had some other sides as well, but all in all, we didn’t really enjoy our experience to be honest with you. I hate killing any small business with a negative review, but I have to be honest… and honestly, this was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time.

I LOVED this place(& I’m not a huge fan of BBQ). At first when we pulled up it looked like it could be one of those run down old BBQ shacks with only seating outside in a screened in porch. I was hungry so we parked & walked in. They also have an indoor area with 2 large picnic tables that you can sit at family style with all the other patrons. We didn’t know what to order so we asked the staff. They said they were known for the pulled pork but their personal fav was the beef brisket… So we ordered a tray of both. The iced tea was fresh and strong. I really enjoyed the cucumber salad. What impressed me the most was how clean and well decorated the place was. It had pigs everywhere. & to top it off I had just purchased a wrought iron pig head…& the same one was on the wall. It was fate.

Yum! I came here by myself while waiting on an appointment for a tattoo. I have wanted to come to Nancy’s for a long time now and I kick myself for not visiting sooner. They have all sorts of BBQ offerings, but I chose to keep it simple with Brisket, greens and sweet potato mash. You should not order the sweet potato mash, it was bland. DEFINITELY order the brisket! Don’t be foolish and get seduced by their other offerings. Overall I give Nancy’s 4 stars, I will bring the fam next time and that will be very soon!
