This is the place to hit, if you want a sandwich. Don’t be put off by its modest exterior(or interior for that matter). If you get a panini from the Trading Post, you’re going to be pleased. We were looking for a quick bite, before we left for our long trip home. I ordered the Seward, which was exactly what I’d hoped it would be — a delicious, gourmet, roast beef sandwich with tasty jalapeño mayo, and gouda. The sandwich looks smallish, but trust me, its plenty. My husband felt that the breakfast sandwich was tasty, but a tad small. The rest of our crew ordered Well Dressed… their regular panini of choice. This aint their first rodeo. I was pleasantly surprised by the jerky! My niece bought a few pieces… they have it right there in the barrel by the register, like fresh pickles! Seeing that, I was cynical. But, I thought I’d try a piece. That was the best jerky I’d had in a long long time. Not too salty. You aren’t taking in all kinds of preservatives, and you aren’t spending an arm and a leg on three pieces of shriveled meat. They also have a ton of really cute chachkies and grocery type items to buy. I fell in love with one of the mugs there… but, as I’ve managed to collect about 150 mugs so far, in my lifetime, I thought, nah. So, do me a favor and buy it. It’s adorable — and OVENSAFE?! Cmon. Not much else I can say. I love the Trading Post!

This is a fantastic family run business! Our family stopped in here prior to taking off on a 5 day paddling and camping trip. We grabbed some last minute essentials including homemade sausages and other great fresh produce. The thoughtfully homemade baked goods and delicious breakfast sandwiches were a perfect way to start our day. We stopped back in our last day and enjoyed deli sandwiches and fresh made coleslaw. The store has a little bit of everything including food(fresh and canned), camping gear, souveniers, beer and fresh dairy products, ice blocks and cubes. I was impressed with the variety of goods that a little store in the Adirondacks could offer. The personality of the store and the owner were memorable too. Thanks Trading Post!

The Trading Post is a shining example of the classic general store or ‘camp’ store. They’ve got everything you would ever need for a weekend, or a month! Every kind of camping gear and accessory you might need, a large ‘Beer Cave’, a full line of grocery items, and most importantly of all their meat and deli. Their deli makes a mean sandwich and they have an AWESOME lineup meats, all butchered in-house. Don’t miss the home made bulk Italian and breakfast sausage!!!

The Tradiing Post gets a solid 5 stars from me. I’ve been coming to this store since the 60’s. I was just a baby back then. The store hasn’t changed too much. I’m not sure about the ownership. My mom would send us in the boat to this store to get milk in the morning. We would tie the boat up across the street and the three of us would pick enough blueberries for pancakes, then we’d get milk and ice and head back to camp. This would be around 1969 – 1974 or 1975. Enough silly memories. The Trading Post could be more expensive than it actually is. It’s basically in the middle of nowhere and it has a lot to offer. Their Italian and breakfast sausages are amazing. They have a great beer selection for such a small place. The meat is fresh and a good deal. We cooked rib eyes from there based on a recommendation and they were great. They carry 3 year aged River Rat Cheese for the same price they sell it for in the town they make it in. They cater to the campers and really have everything you would need which saves you at least 30 miles round trip to Saranac Lake and a little less than that to Tupper Lake. They turn stuff over so often that you never have to be concerned about dates on packaging. It’s a true gem.
