Absolutely the best breakfast food I’ve had in quite a while, besides when my husband cooks. Its a small place. No frills. Lost in the 80’s/90’s décor. But who cares! The food in every way makes up for it. And you can watch her cooking your food. Waitress was good at what she did considering she was the only one and had to serve every table and those seated at the bar. Highly recommend checking this place out. And the prices are great!

My husband and I went here because the reviews were good. We were not disappointed. My husband ordered a blueberry pancake that was bigger than his plate, super thick and had fresh blueberries. I had the scrabbled mess which was delicious, the eggs were cooked just right. The food is super inexpensive and the restaurant looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 80’s and that’s what makes it so charming. We sat at the counter which was cool. The server and cook did not talk and they weren’t friendly — that was disappointing. I would definitely go back.

I visit Saranac Lake often. I always look forward to eating my breakfast here. It feels like you are in your grandma’s kitchen. The food is cheap and tasty. It is run by a feisty family of women. They favor the locals over the tourists, but if you respect their atmosphere, you will get great service. It is an experience to eat here.

This place is a basic home cooking diner and if you expect anything else go somewhere else for breakfast or lunch. I recently went back to DJs for the first time in 10 years, I used to go there with my dad as a kid and we both used to love getting their plain cheese omelette. That has always stuck with me and when I went back I was scared I was going to ruin a great memory. I’m so glad I was wrong.(Additionally, I think they’ve had the same dozen or so regulars since I was a kid, lol). The décor won’t be making it into gourmet magazine anytime soon, but you don’t go to DJs for the décor. The omelette was just as good as I remember it, buttery and oozing cheese, with an English muffin on the side. You really can’t beat it for a simple breakfast. They have plenty more on their menu and although I haven’t tried most of it I would guess it lives up to the same standard as the omelette. The best part is the prices, you cannot get a more filling meal for less money anywhere in saranac lake. Your arteries may thank you if you don’t make the omelette your standard fare ;-).

What an amazing breakfast! Hometown charm mixed with a good, hearty breakfast makes for a great start to the day. We received one of the biggest pancakes we have ever seen in addition to a good omelette and French toast. The best part of the meal, however, was the flavor of the place. The owner knew everyone and got to know everyone she didn’t. We felt right at home and can’t wait to stop by again next time we are in town!

This was the perfect small town diner meal after four great days of canoe camping in the area. We had burgers and fries. I had a side of homemade macaroni salad, creamy studded with crunchy minced vegetables. My husband has a bowl of chicken rice soup, very tasty! And we all split a slice of excellent banana cream pie. It was a Thursday, meatloaf day. Most of the regulars were coming in for it. It looked good!

Very quaint, old time diner feel. I especially enjoyed the fresh coffee. The specials we had were very good. We would definitely come back.

DJs atmosphere is right out of the no frills 1960’s but the breakfasts are about as good as it gets. The pancakes are some of the best ever, anywhere. There is usually some kind of special French toast and omelets. Sausage gravy is particularly good. I never skip DJs when in the area.

Good basic home cooking in a small town atmosphere. Nothing off the charts. Homefries not included on most of the breakfast entrees. Coffee is included though.

Great cheap breakfast — it is what Norman Rockwell was seeing when he painted!
