I was referred to this office because they accept Delta Dental HMO. I had been told there would be no charge for the consult. When I was in the dentist chair, a charge was mentioned, so I got up and went to the front office and said I had been told by the referring dentist that there would be no charge. They thought there was, but checked and came back and told me that I was right. I went back and finished the consult. A few weeks later I got a bill for $ 71. and they told me my insurance only paid $ 19. They all denied my experience, though there were three people in the front office hearing it while it happened and I had done the very unusual thing of getting up out of the chair to make sure things were clear. The financial person sent me the referral form from the dentist and showed it said, «patient co-​pay» $ 125 — insisting that made them right. I t turned out that that «patient co-​pay» referred to a deep cleaning charge from the dentist should I decide on that procedure, and absolutely nothing to do with the consult with the periodontist. They did ask me if I had an HMO or PPO, making me think that perhaps thats what they got wrong. No one would admit the error, and when I emailed the dentist, asking him to work with me, and not make me responsible for someone else’s error, he cancelled my appointments for gum surgery and told me he would not handle my case.
I definitely would not go to this office.
I also, during my initial consultation, had some questions, but felt that any questons or concerns to try to understand more were not welcome and considered an annoyance.
When Dr. Steigerwald sent me the exam results and it showed which teeth were needing the gum surgery, there seemed an obvious mistake (a tooth with no deep pockets was circled for surgery), and it took me half an hour on the phone before I could get someone to actually check, and discover that yes, a mistake had been made. They acted like it didnt really matter.

My experience with Dr. Steigerwald was top grade, from beginning to end. His staff is friendly, professional and helpful, everything from scheduling, to billing to post-​treatment assistance.
His office is professional and well light. Dr. Steigerwald explained the procedure to me in a way that was clear, helpful and non-​threatening. My treatment was prompt and painless and the results were exceptional.
Prior to going to Dr. Steigerwald, I met with a different periodontist and the experience was the complete opposite. I felt like the other doctor was more interested in his fees that my dental health.
I recommend Dr. Steigerwald without any reservation.
