Amazing food, great prices, and great customer service. You literally can’t ask for anything else. My boyfriend and I love eating here when we come to Santa Rosa from Calistoga.

This place is absolutely delicious. My mom came across a coupon for BOGO free and she looked it up and we decided to stop in and give it a try. I consider us to be breakfast experts and everything about this place was fire. The coffee was hot and fresh; our server Jonathan was amazing, friendly & attentive. Now, for the food Instead of omelettes, they call them scrambles and you create your own. I got one with sausage, mushroom, Jack cheese, avocado, & sour cream. They have 2 different hash options, rustic and classic. My mom opted for rustic which has tomatoes, bell pepper, and onions; I went for the classic has brown. Omg the omelette was delicious! All the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, hugeeee portions too. My mom’s omelette had bacon and I personally don’t care for bacon but I had a bite and this bacon was amazing. Not greasy and fatty tasting like most. This is definitely our new spot for breakfast!

I was passing by casually one day looking for a delicious spot to enjoy my eggs and sausage with a fresh glass of orange juice and I just so happened to come across J’s Grill and Café. I encountered the wonderful staff at this establishment and enjoyed a delicious meal with great vibes, especially with a charming young server… I believe his name was Jonathan? Anyway, he was very quick and caring to my needs! Definitely will be back here

Js Grill, tucked in the corner of a mall at the end of calistoga road, is a great spot for a filling breakfast. Stopped by after a workout and picked the florentine hash from the healthy menu. I added an extra egg cuz I was that hungry. Potatoes were perfect. Not greasy like you think of at Mel’s Diner(yes I’m middle age). I was a bit nervous after reading previous reviews about poor service but I was sat right away and my server was very friendly. Everything I saw other guests eating looking great and big. Nice portion sizes here. I do like that they support two veterans programs as well. Thanks for your service J.

Even though I gave 3 stars, there is hope. The server was nice and helpful, the breakfast potatoes and eggs were really good, and you can’t beat the price. I would try again for lunch. Some things needing work… we were the first ones in for breakfast and the place smelled like mold(maybe because it had just rained) but it was a bit off putting. The coffee was served lukewarm. There were a few gnats flying around our table. The coffee cup had some residue that I had to wipe off around the rim. But I can’t write the place off yet, I will try lunch at some point and maybe have a better experience.

This restaurant is very good. The food was great, they had a very full menu with lots of options. It is veteran owned and they care about their customers. New business so it looks slow, go in, you won’t be disappointed!

I had read about J’s Grill & Café a couple days ago but my wife and I found ourselves at Montgomery Village and so we just ate breakfast at a nice place there, but today we finished doing some grocery shopping at the Safeway on Calistoga Road and saw that J’s was open so when we left Safeway I asked the wife if she’d like to try it because I had read some good things about it. She said we should try it. We went in, sat down and were promptly asked if we wanted to start with some coffee or drinks. I had coffee and my wife had some green tea. Both were good. She decided on a scramble(I think that is what they refer to their omelettes as being) with spinach, onions and mushrooms. I decided on the biscuits and gravy with sausage and their regular hash browns(they also offer rustic ones with onions and peppers in them, I do believe). They were kind enough to add turkey to my wife’s scramble when she requested it and allowed her to substitute fresh fruit instead of hash browns. When our food was served it was then that I noticed just how large the platters were AND our plates(mine in particular because she opted out of the hash browns) were FILLED with a LOT of food. Both our eggs(I forgot to mention that she also had egg-whites instead of just eggs like I had) were fluffy and near-perfect and while I am not usually big on sausage links(I prefer patties) these links were THE best I’ve ever had as the casings were not tough or chewy but were just perfect. The biscuits were SUPERB and the gravy was THE best tasting gravy I have ever had in my 50 years of existence. The hash browns were wonderful and my wife also liked her fruit. On top of all of the great food our server was very pleasant and polite and Tiffany(one of the owners) took time to converse with us at our table for several minutes. It was one of the best conversations I have ever been a part of with someone who owned and/or worked in a place that I was dining at. Just a really nice lady. To top all of that off, I was shocked when I looked at the bill. It was only $ 25.00 and change when I was expecting to pay at least $ 32 to $ 35 before tip. It was an almost-shocking surprise to us at just how satisfied and happy we were with our dining experience at J’s. Will we be going back? Most definitely!

J’s Grill & Café is one of my new favorite brunch restaurants in Santa Rosa. Chef Horton serves up big savory entrees at reasonable rates while his wife and the front-of-room staff take care of the customers. Contrary to some of the reviews on here, I have always received great service from the wait staff. My favorite thing to order at J’s is the Joe’s Special. It is an egg scramble with ground beef, onion, mushroom, chopped spinach with your choice of cheese. Definitely go with the rustic hash browns and the homemade buttermilk biscuit as your accompanying choices. They are still planning out their dinner menu so I will try to come back and experience their dinner service.

The restaurant is new, so I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt. That being said, there are a few things that even a new restaurant should have in place when they open. They hadn’t printed up menus yet. The server told us what they were serving that night, but never told us the prices. Even if they’d printed up simple menus and laminated them that’d be better than nothing. Salad dressing served in little(ice cream) bowls. What? The server also didn’t bring out salad forks until we were already into the salad. The dinner itself… nothing special. Very small salad, salty soup and inconsistently seasoned dinner. Main course was bland, sides were either over-seasoned or not at all. I think with time and experience, they could become a decent dinner spot. I’ll give them a few months to figure stuff out and improve, then go back. Every new place deserves a second chance.

Stopped in last Sunday and was happily surprised. Great live music, from an acoustic guitar player and singer named Aaron. Kellen, my server was very nice and attentive. I had the chowder(home made and fantastic) and a salad(good). I also had some nice pinot grigio. The menu was decent, and the food service great. I’ll return. Check it out!

We thought we had discovered a new local place for breakfast. Last weekend was our first and last visit. Sadly, this place fails on all fronts. The service was very slowly, the servers where waiting around to see who would serve us… they should have tossed a coin it would have been faster. The food took an exceedingly long time to be prepared and the place wasn’t that busy. Lastly, the food. I don’t know what they do with the food but my hunch is they use frozen vegetables. The food had little taste and what there was tasted like they used the same pan to prepare a number of different dishes without cleaning in between.

I don’t know how their food is, because after 30 minutes(not exaggerating) we still had not been given menus. My daughters went a couple of weeks later and it took one hour to be served a simple meal. I’m hoping this is just a case New Restaurant … Maybe they’ll be better after time. I hope so!

This was our first visit to J’s and it definitely won’t be our last! We live in the neighborhood and welcome a great breakfast/lunch place like this. Best chicken fried steak and eggs EVER! Fresh homemade salsa was awesome, and the Sojo Bloody Mary’s were great! Excellent service, great food, we’ll be back soon

Below you will see my original review from when I first went but in the last few months we’ve gone several more times and the young gentleman is no longer there and the servers that are aren’t friendly or attentive and we often have to flag them down if we need anything. And the food is «you get what you pay for». Affordable prices and average food. My husband and I went here on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago and were thrilled to have had a great experience as we live walking distance from it. Our server, a young gentleman provided us with some of the best customer service we have ever had. Very friendly and attentive. He kept our water and coffee full, he went into detail about the menu items, offering up that they were made in house and even gave us a complimentary taste of their calm chowder which was amazing and I can’t wait to go back and get a full bowl. We both enjoyed our breakfasts that we got. Love that it’s locally owned and run, will definitely go back

Well… Husband and I went there for Sunday breakfast today. The server was great, but we felt so bad for him. Sunday brunch and he was the only server! Maybe since they’re new, they can’t afford more help. Who appeared to be the hostess did a little bussing, but it still wasn’t efficient. We felt bad asking our waiter for things because he had too much on his plate already. Mediocre food. Maybe lunch is better. We liked the military photos of the chef/owner and were thinking some more personal décor like that would give it more of a family feel. which would match the diner-style food better than the landscape paintings and wine display too.

So far I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying an amazing BLT sandwich as well as a «Burbank» sandwich(imagine french toast stuffed full of cheese and meat) at J’s Café. Both were exceptional. The homemade fries are amazing and I love how I’m greeted with such a nice staff and welcomed by one of the owners. Next up? A bacon waffle!

Came to try this new place and I must say the J’s burger was amazing! The bread taste fresh baked(not sure if it was but if not you set had me fooled) the French fries were home made and melt in your mouth! I def will b ordering it again! Hostess and staff were on top of everything and brought food out quickly! Can’t wait to come back!!! I really enjoyed the décor of the place, having local art displayed gives a nice touch for the community! Keep up the good food & service!!!

We had a really weird experience here. First, we ordered salads and asked if we could add grilled chicken to them. You would have thought we were asking for something really strange — it took some convincing to get them to do this! Our Greek salads were strange. Way way too much dressing, and just a huge amount of sundried tomatoes and olives. Hardly any feta. No lettuce. If we hadn’t added the chicken, as mentioned above, they would have been quite bad. The salad cost $ 12(!) plus $ 4.50 for the chicken — rip off! I also had a piece of a plastic fork in my salad that I bit into… The soup was pretty good, and the servers were friendly, if confused and slow… Overall, overpriced, mediocre food at best. Was hoping for better!

When I walked in and saw a full restaurant I was excited, but realized it was only full because service was so slow. I’ve been a restaurant hostess and server for years, so I hate to bash. I know how it can be. But this place was a little ridiculous. It took asking 3 people including the owner to finally get us some coffee and water,(the water never even came). Coffee came with about a tsp of cream. That took at least 20 – 25 mins, no exaggeration. Getting our order in took at least another 15. And another 20 to actually get the food… Which just wasn’t good. Flavorless hashbrowns. The eggs were alright. Mushy English muffin, burnt apple sausage that literally just tasted like a Granny Smith. Maybe the lunch is great? I won’t be back to see. The workers were just all over the place in there for 6 tables. I know it’s a brand new but J’s should really get it together. Go to Su Casa next door. Jose is a great cook and the service and food is 100 times better. Sorry J’s. 2 stars because the hostess/owner was kind of almost apologetic. And. they almost made me late to work.
