Great flight school for EMT and aerobatics! Already having a private pilot certificate, I completed the EMT(Emergency Maneuver Training) modules I &II here last year in a Citabria and Decathlon. Each module is four lessons consisting of a thorough ground lesson in their classroom and a flight of less than an hour. It was an eye-opener as to spin recovery, spirals, unusual attitudes, wake turbulence recovery, control surface failures, etc. For the spin lesson we did about 20 one and two turn spins and recoveries in just one day. I highly recommend the EMT program — I am much more confident in my day to day flying. Plus my awesome instructor Mark King would demo aerobatics after we’d completed the lesson… which has led me to begin aerobatic lessons in their Super Decathlon and working on my tailwheel endorsement with a goal of competing in IAC contests. Aerobatics is seriously the most fun flying you can do and Santa Paula has a large waivered practice area 3 miles away. The front desk staff is great and the half-dozen instructors I’ve met all seem to really enjoy teaching everyone from primary students working on their private to those of us crazy enough to want to fly upside down.

I just received my pilot license this past week, and did all my training through CP Aviation. CP Aviation is a great place to fly! Their planes are all in excellent shape, rates are among the most competitive, and the staff of employees ranging from instructors to office staff to maintenance personnel are all friendly, knowledgable, and friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate me in my quest to achieve my goal. A side note on the instructors, Berkeley Brandt and Omar Lala were both exceptional, as was the chief pilot, Dennis Magdaleno… these were the only three instructors I flew with(I’m sure the rest of the instructor staff is just as good).
